Akechi doesn’t see the Thieves as friends/teammates, just equals and tools for his personal ends. However he sees it, both he and the Protagonist have a common enemy and goal for this arc.
Mystery ? It’s further proved by the ending dialogue of the final boss. Everyone is hyping joker up and saying nice things and Akechi is just telling him to do his Goddamn job.

They don't have the drive to both demand he be better and learn what his deal is. Joker does. Joker is literally the only friend Akechi has. The only person who is alright with the prickly real Akechi. Akechi will never admit it but I suspect part of the reason he seems somewhat more sane is because he is spending time with Joker. He doesn't need to hold back or pretend with Joker. At last he has a person that can keep up with him and will treat him as a valued comrade even with their history. Of course there is the fact Akechi knows that he either wins and "dies" or losses and becomes something his true self will hate.
I love the subtle change in his expressions. They're basically resting bitch face variants of his detective prince facade. He's not quite psychotic, he's just pissed off.

When Akechi asks Joker about what happened after they went their separate ways at Shido's Palace, is this because he already knows his fate? Or is it more likely he realizes after Joker explains everything?
Well, he only joined temporarly with the only intend to fully betray them at the end, so you could argue that he never truly joined them. Since they only made that sketchy Deal back at Sae's Palace.

I'm pretty sure it's an unspoken rule to not spoil anything past the pancake scene regardless of how long the game has been out for, and here you just go ahead and put _that_ as the thumbnail. I've already gotten past the pancakes so _I_ didn't get spoiled, but I can see this affecting other people.

A lot of people like to point out Sumire being similar to Joker. In a lot of ways. But I also feel like a lot of Sumire's character is just a female version of Pleasant Boy Akechi. Both use bless skills. Both seem to be sweet nearly all the time and are polite. Both join the party relatively late in the game. Both take a break before truly joining the group. Both are interested in Joker. Both initially don't agree with the Phantom Thieves. Both are actually hiding a darker secret to themselves. Both don't really consider themselves PT even while helping out. Just a thought.
I didn’t feel particularly sympathetic to Akechi in the vanilla game but the 3rd semester content really swayed me over - I kinda feel betrayed by the true ending because of it
I don’t know for sure, but I would REALLY love it if she did. If Aigis, a girl who is a robot who loves the P3 Protagonist deeply even after his death, can do it, then so can Sumire.
Wakaba being alive takes away all the motivation and history of futaba and sojiro. Everyone is ok with the akechi's permanent presence in the group even though he knows all the people he killed and his betrayal is super strange. these additions seens like a fanfic
I mean, the oddity of the former one is exactly the sort of thing the MC and Akechi are referring to about the world being wrong. The world at this point essentially IS a fanfic... one being written by the new palace ruler.
