    Excellent work. But no job is complete until the painters come along and paint it shut.

    Clear, consider and to the point. Love it. Now to try and translate this to Canadian 😂. I did work like this in the UK before emigrating and there’s the odd time it still crops up on the older properties. It’s a pain trying to find the right materials in a country that doesn’t have them!
    What did you use for the weather stripping? I need to see if I can get some over here.

      I do know that Mighton Products (www.mightonproducts.com/) ship worldwide.
      My goto solutions are shorturl.at/enuDU and shorturl.at/djuY8
      I've no idea about shipping charges and customs duty.

    Who on earth ever worked out that cats cradle?! I’m a Luddite and do one at a time but now I’ve seen you do it I will try it next time. Thanks for another great video Jim 😊

      😂😂😂 Do it half a dozen times and you'll realise that it makes sense. It actually speeds up the operation. All you have to do is tie the weights on and the job is done. I know it doesn't look as if it makes sense, but...it will. 😊

    How do you get the window to hold itself ? I have some windows that just fall. Fall too fast.

    More great content Jim. What draught proofing strip did you use on the bar that sits below the bottom staff bead?

    Fascinating... You make it look so simple!
    Since the staff bead will have to be taken out from time to time for window maintenance, could one fix it in place using screws instead of nails to make removal and refitting easier? Or is that a bad idea? (Forgive me if this is a stupid question: I'm new to all this!)

    • @jimsear
      @jimsear  Рік тому +1

      Short answer...yes. Generally, the right hand staff bead and the right hand parting bead. Another video for another day. 🤓

      If the screws get painted over you'll have trouble removing them.

    Jim, what rope/cord do you recommend? There's quite a bewildering choice on eBay --- jute, hessian, cotton, waxed, unwaxed, etc... Which of these is best in your experience?

    • @jimsear
      @jimsear  Рік тому +1

      That depends...
      Weight of window, size of pulleys, preference of client, personal prejudice 🤓
      Generally waxed cotton www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/product/waxed-cotton-sash-cord-6mm-diameter-100m-coil-147202 will cover most bases.
