Yes, I couldn't stand his character. Like he worked my nerves throughout the entire movie. But he is a very good actor! All of them were amazing. I was crying at the end of the movie when they ended up dying.

These are the ancient Egyptians! look at them!! they are the epitome of how the ancient Egyptians looked. These people were pushed south ages ago. The current people of Sudan aren't the original people either. They were pushed south too. There are still many blacks in Egypt but they don't show them on film.

The craziest one (Faysal Ahmed) in the movie is the most sophisticated, well spoken person there.
Well he’s the only that knows most English other of all of them and grew up here. But sophisticated actually Barkhad abdi surprised me.

Actually they are all Somali. Barkhad Abdi came to the US at the age of 7 & judging how well these two speak English I am guessing they also came here at a very young age. amazing acting considering some or all of them had not been in films before.

Good work by a first time, off the street, debut actors.. how ugly is their death scripted in the film though?.. when you play a villain in a film one thing you don't have to wonder is, your character gets screwed in the end.

A must see Movie!! I love all casts.
I have to say the movie real strength was in its realism not dreamed up plot. I wanted more scary and violent but it actually told a story that was real of itself. There was no need to embellish it. It was a look inside Somali pirates and that's how it gets.
All 4 of the Somalis actors were awesome! Faysal and Barkhad deserve academy awards!

What I notice is the features and how African always stereotype with wide noses
I heard the reason why people who originally inhabited the African continent have broad noses is so when they breath more air can go through their wider nostrils to cool their brains, which is needed in the hot African climate.
So people with the slimmer longer noses are the people who have been living in colder climatic environments and need less air to cool down their brains.
I dont knowhow true this is, but im going to run with it because it sounds legit.

Somali's usually have thin noses too, they don't have typically African features
@@Dom-fx4kt I don't know, what are "typically African features." What do Tutsi look like? or Fulani? Or Khoisan? or Taureg? or Nubians? black skinned Africans have many different types of features. These guys have a "Horner" look but that look exist in other areas on the continent as well.

Quay5885 Im sorry to tell you but the Somalis now don't look much different then their ancestors. Now we do have people who look like Djimon Hounsou in Somalia they are what we call the Somali Bantus great people. As for ethnic Somalis they look pretty much the same. Lets remember the Bantu expansion didn't reach the horn of Africa.
There's no difference between old somalis and current Somalis, and Somalis have no "negroid" features.
