What I liked about GB1 vs GB2 is that in the first there wasn't a real villain but rather that gozer was a manifestation. They could have done the same in 2. Vigo could have been the equivalent of the Marshmallow man, as in the evil takes the form of the painting due to circumstances. I always thought in the deleted driving scene where it shows Peter looking over his shoulder out the front with concern is because the way he was driving down the street anyway
I am much more fond of GBII than I was 20 years ago. It does things I do like such as Peter and Dana’s relationship feeling more genuine and the idea of the river of slime. That said, I do still have my problems with it and some of them are connected to these deleted scenes that you mentioned. Others included never liking the idea of the GBs being run out of business and/or people no longer believing them (despite the fact that thousands of people saw Stay-Puft back in ‘84) or the relationship between Louis and Janine. (Being an RGB fan I am a die-hard Egon/Janine shipper) ;)

I’ve never heard so many conflicting stories about one person in my life. It’s like half the population loves Bill Murray and the other half hates his guts.
At 15:03 where Dana asks if something about her is a plot point that should have been included in the movie. This would have given more purpose to why Vigo sought out Oscar than just finding a child instead of the script being fast and loose around this plot point. Also when Ghostbusters 2009 game came out, Akroyd talked about in the lore how folks who were possessed by Zuul or Vince could be more susceptible to other supernatural entities seeking them out do to their supernatural potential.
I hope they add those deleted scenes to Ghost busters 2 rerelease it. Those scenes would make the movie better. Because those scenes were deleted certain scenes were confusing. Honestly it really was how long it took to make a sequel. 5 years for a sequel was way too long, and by the time it came out the popularity of the Ghostbusters was not as big as it was when the 1st movie cameout.
Ghostbusters 4 should be explaining how everyone in NewYork forgot how Ghostbusters had saved the city from the ghost. Even after everyone had witnessed the city being haunted. Like, how did that happened? How many people who witnessed it for themselves and religious leaders asking the Ghostbusters for help in part 1 all totally forgot ghost are real and called them frauds
GB2 would have been better if Dana Suited up and went full Aliens on Vigo. After stealing her baby. It would have been cooler than a cheap Louis Tully laugh.
So I have a question, is Minty that kid from Road Warrior? I saw the movie and by fluke the credits were rolling and I saw the dingo kids name was Minty?
You should also do a video on the original Ghostbusters script, the one before all the rewrites Dan did with Harold. Now that script is really out there.
Oddly enough, the Filmation Ghostbusters cartoon had a lot of elements of the original script. Namely flying cars and traveling to different dimensions and time periods.
I don't care if it's not the popular thing to say, cause I LOVE Ghostbusters 2!!! I've always loved it, since the first time I saw it as a small child. In fact, finding out some years later, that there's many people that hate it, was a huge shocker for me, as I always thought it was beloved! Now with the abomination known as Ghostbusters 2016, in existence, I don't know how anybody could still hate part 2. I wish they would've left Ray's possession scenes in, & I think it would've been awesome to bring Walter Peck back.
same here ! i have never understood the hate Ghostbusters 2 has always gotten, i enjoyed it as much as i did the first one, i felt part 2 was a great continuation of the story of Ghostbusters. ( and i enjoyed the music in it as well i have always been a Jackie Wilson fan ) ;-)
Judge Wexler: I tried 'em for murder! Gave 'em the chair! You've gotta do something! Dr. Egon Spengler: Why don't you just tell them you don't believe in ghosts?
If you watch Elf with Will Ferrell you will see that his dad (the late James Caan) stays at the exact same NY building with Dana Barrett, where the final battle happened! When James Caan exits the building to go to his office and he talks to the Elf in the cell phone, you can clearly see the exterior of the building, the same entrance where Ghostbusters entered to fight Gozer, the same street (and the same view with the trees and all...) where Gozer tried to kill them before they enter the building! That was cool !
It's a shame the Vigo stepping out of the painting scene never happened, would've loved to see that. That really does look creepy AF and Frickin awesome. That scene for sure would've given me hella nightmares as a kid. Great video, as always, Minty!
You know what I think?… using “underrated” is OVERRATED!! Give it a rest for crying out loud! I have no idea what everybody’s infatuation with using the word “underrated” is on UA-cam, but shut up with saying it so it so much. Everybody is constantly inaccurately using the word “underrated” on UA-cam to the point where it’s unusable 😣😣😣😣😣
agreed, I also think the scene they did leave in of rays initial possession whilst scanning the painting does the same thing though for the story we can understand why at the finale it happenss
Too hot to handle, too cold to hold They're called the Ghostbusters and they're in control Had 'em throwin' a party for a bunch of children All the while the slime was under the building So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped Grabbed their proton packs off their back and they split But what about VIGO, the master of Evil Try to battle my BOYS? That's not Legal!!!
They should have left in the part about Vego and Rasputin. Some back story on Vego would have been nice in a flashback, like when he possessed they guy the could have shown a short flashback to Rasputin teaching him how to do it or a conversation about it. It would have filled out the Vego character a little more.
The problem with that is that the backstory of Vigo was changed to be a ruler in Carpathia in the 16th century. So not only did Vigo's reign end 300 years before Rasputin was born, but there would also be a considerable distance between them as well.
Vigo is older than Rasputin as stated Vigo came to Russia as a migrant most likely influencing Rasputin and others into the occult and caused chaos in Russia. Could have had a sub plot where Vigo was the one who gave Ivo Shander the texts on the occult and the means to summon gozer.
I LOVE Ghostbusters II, it has an amazing score, great set design, a killer theme song in Bobby Brown's "On Our Own" and a great message, Spreading Positivity in a way the Helps Others as well as Yourself, and is a perfect New Year's Movie! Fantastic video Minty, keep up the great work and Happy New Year! 😊
Gozer was great for the first movie as a god not having that much character development and only appearing at the end adds to the mystique of gozer and fits handling a god that way while vigo being a human turned super powered spectre and making him more fleshed out and known earlier made him more intimidating due to him being not a god but a human.
Do you know what’s actually REALLY terrible? The way that everybody on UA-cam overuses the word “underrated!” Stop saying “Underrated!” Not only do they overuse it, they also misuse it and use it inaccurately
Ghostbusters and GBII were both great. Nothing beats movies and music from the 80's.
Ya ya ya know it!

Never understood the hate GBII got. Solid film imo.
Jason Loke? sounds close to my name
You should also do a video on the original Ghostbusters script, the one before all the rewrites Dan did with Harold.
Now that script is really out there.
90% of that script (well the plot ideas anyway) ended up in the Ghostbusters video game from 2009.
Oddly enough, the Filmation Ghostbusters cartoon had a lot of elements of the original script. Namely flying cars and traveling to different dimensions and time periods.
It sucks we never got a Ghostbusters 3 because of Bill Murray.. at least they came back for Afterlife.
Afterlife is pretty much Ghostbusters 3.
Is the second one that disliked? I haven't seen it since I was a kid, and I remember thinking it wasn't as good as the first, but still liked it.
Will lives in the usa, I live in the UK.
Doubt I'll ever watch it with him..
That was in LA I believe

Elf was one of the worst movies ever made. Not to mention one of the most overrated movies ever made
It's a shame the Vigo stepping out of the painting scene never happened, would've loved to see that. That really does look creepy AF and Frickin awesome. That scene for sure would've given me hella nightmares as a kid.
Great video, as always, Minty!
The river of slime itself gave me plenty of nightmares.
@@diablojones Dude, the scene of Vigos head floating above the river of slime gave me nightmares.
well, he does kinda step out of it in the final scene, we just dont see him do it, its a cut-scene.
I too think GB2 is highly underrated, and I too agree that having Ray possessed by Vigo would add to the structure of GB2.
^ This is why you don't feed the trolls, kids. Also, don't do drugs, stay in school. ;)
agreed, I also think the scene they did leave in of rays initial possession whilst scanning the painting does the same thing though for the story we can understand why at the finale it happenss
Too hot to handle, too cold to hold
They're called the Ghostbusters and they're in control
Had 'em throwin' a party for a bunch of children
All the while the slime was under the building
So they packed up their group, got a grip, came equipped
Grabbed their proton packs off their back and they split
But what about VIGO, the master of Evil
Try to battle my BOYS? That's not Legal!!!

Would like to know how they got Cheech Marin to cameo in it. His "Better late then never" line during the Titanic scene was hilarious.
Probably a garbage bag full of greenery.
I can totally imagine Bill Murray saying, "I'll only do it if they pay me ten million dollars." just to have the movie studio call him on his bluff.😆
GB2 is my favorite of the originals. Their soundtrack is better than the original soundtrack
Dr Peter Venkman:
Sometimes, s**t happens, someone has to deal with it and who you gonna call 📞?
My favorite one liners of GB™️II.❤👍💯
I wonder if Egon ever had a change of heart and gave Bobby's son a Proton Pack 🤔

Atari 8-Bit Ghostbuster Music is now stuck in my head 😂
I always liked Vego as a villain more than Gozar. Vego had more of a presence and just the painting really upped the creepy factor
Gozer was great for the first movie as a god not having that much character development and only appearing at the end adds to the mystique of gozer and fits handling a god that way while vigo being a human turned super powered spectre and making him more fleshed out and known earlier made him more intimidating due to him being not a god but a human.
Gozar came back in AFTERLIFE and it was Really cool
@@bridgetclement2968 Gozer never died
Ghostbusters II has its faults but a lot of great scenes and characters, too. A terribly underrated movie.
Do you know what’s actually REALLY terrible?
The way that everybody on UA-cam overuses the word “underrated!” Stop saying “Underrated!” Not only do they overuse it, they also misuse it and use it inaccurately
… besides, this movie isn’t that underrated anyway. So thanks for proving my point that “underrated” is used when it’s unnecessary yet again
@@nsasupporter7557 wow, I'm literally mortified.
