I’ve been driving this car since February (close to 7,500 miles now) and I can honestly say no complaints w/ this car yet. Gets the job done and my drives are so comfortable and pleasant.
I just test drove this yesterday and I fell in love with it. It was my first introduction to Kia and I’m honestly considering it. I’m 6’4” and finding a car that I can sit in front and back with 2-3” of space headroom is amazing. I loved driving the 23’ Civic, but this one for the features and price is a great deal also.
Boxy, ugly...but zippy, 35+ MPG highway, lots of cargo space with seats down, plenty of rear seat room for adults, exceptional head room...all this for $20k Base model?
I too have a 2018 Soul but I have the ! model with the turbo and love it! Your correct the amount of cargo space and passenger room is amazing, the fuel economy is great, the handling is quick and nimble and it's really reliable as well. It's a blast to drive. The newer models look very on trend and stylish in my opinion
The Soul seems like a lot of bang for the buck. Price aside, few cars are this distinctive, stylish, fun, and practical in one package. Seems like a home run to me.
Somehow Kia and Hyundai have become some of my favorite car manufacturers in a very short amount of time. Despite their flaws people make them sound so much worse than they really are
I have two mechanics I know at a Kia dealership, they both have replaced 200 engines so far this year on less then 3 year old kias. My coworker bought a new Hyundai and it blew the motor at 11500.
I always rent cars whenever I go on trips from Vegas to Cali (3 hr drive) and every single time I get my hands on a Soul, it’s been ALWAYS a fun time in it! I was very impressed that this thing just gives me the quick boost of speed whenever I need it even at the 147 mph. It didn’t feel like that at all! Also offers great handling, spacious, and vision too. It’s probably the best car at its price and some of different vehicles at a higher price point don’t offer the same feeling I get with the Soul. I’m really considering this as my next one, it’s just so fun!
If you can get over the looks, the Soul is a fantastic little vehicle. I ended up going with a Forte for my wife's car, but the Soul had a ton of room, which I really didn't expect from a small SUV!
If Kia made a larger Soul to live alongside the regular Soul that'd be cool. Something with more room like the Honda Element. Wonder if it would sell well!
I have a 2020 GT line Soul that ive done a lot of work to from spoiler, built more on the defuser, interior trim kit, wheels, carbon fiber, intake, and added several GT line accents and smile everytime i walk out toit from work. Ive drag and rolled raced it, i love the sport tuned suspension. I do cars and coffee and won a few awrds for import and daily driver! thanks for a awesome review
For the price point, this car is well worth it. The room, the features, that nice gauge cluster, the interior and sport mode and normal is nice to. Definitely a nice car.
I used to drive muscle cars and luxury performance vehicles. My minimum satisfying engine power was about 300 hp. I test-drove the '24 Kia GT-line, and I can't believe how excited I was by this little car, which only has 147 horses - the kind of power that used to be a non-starter for me. I also drove the 2.0 l, 200 hp Soul a couple of years ago, and that car had double the adrenaline rush factor. I will never understand why Kia shot themselves in the foot by stopping its production.
I agree I have a 2018 Kia Soul ! w/1.6 turbo at 201 hp and it's a complete blast to drive I so wish they kept that into today's models. Cause a lot of people see the box car and specs and don't give it a look when honestly it's a all around winner in my opinion. Sure it won't be that hot hatch or that throaty muscle car but it's not meant to be. It's meant to be practical and fun to drive which it is.

@@502Chevy Yes, it's very nice. I used to have the automatic with tiptronic, but I had to get a real manual. On certain pavement with warm tires, the car takes off very quickly, and the short first gear only hits 29 or 30 mph at the rev limiter.

Thanks for his review I’ve got preowned 2019 Kia soul in Korea. Everything works well except DCT makes little bumpy feelings when it’s not heated though.
Why can't Subaru make their CVT (outside of WRX & Wilderness) responsive like Kia & Hyundai CVT (IVT)? H/K 2.0 is down on power due to running on an Atkinson Cycle (fuel economy), but their IVT has their vehicles outrunning other competitors with similar size engines and transmissions.
I really wish they would add AWD as an option to the Soul. But maybe they're worried it would eat into the sales of the Seltos (which they don't market at all) and the Sportage.

My 2019 is the gen 2, but the ride wasn't the best, not horrible. The wind noise is pretty loud at 60+ mph because it's basically a box coasting down the road. Not sure if the gen 3's are better. I wish they could make the 2009 Soulster concept as commercial production .. the design was so futuristic that looks better than EVs look today
I notice Kias and Hyundais always do mild refresh in their design every 3 seconds. Which is good because the design is fresh every now and then. However, i feel like, its not really practical.
Drove one of these and I would heavily suggest saving up money to get a Civic hatchback instead unless you absolutely need extra height. The Civic has a more spacious trunk area, better feeling cabin and the interior in the Civic has a lot of room for both front and back passengers. The 1.6T was likely discontinued in the Soul because of its availability in the Seltos, essentially a 4WD Soul. They want to sell more Seltos, and the Soul isn’t their big sales vehicle anymore. Or so I think.

At this point just take the bus haha
