- Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Director Sam Raimi sat down with us for an exclusive interview on the latest film in the MCU. Raimi said Doctor Strange 2 was a horror film, with Steven Strange, the Scarlet Witch, Wong and the rest of the cast all having to deal with Marvel's first attempt at a true horror movie.
Sam Raimi has a history of both great super hero films, like the Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire, and great horror films like Evil Dead and Army of Darkness with Bruce Campbell, so he felt like he was the perfect director to take marvel down the horror route with Multiverse of Madness.
So why is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness a horror film, and what can we expect from Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and the rest of the crew as they deal with this terrifying new universes? Find out in our exclusive interveiw! - Розваги
Man, Sam Raimi just gives those "wholesome dude" vibes, like you can tell it would be really fun to have an in depth discussion with the guy about his art.
Whether if the movie is bad or not, its great to see Sam doing his own things again on a bigger picture
Did you not watch the video? He clearly says he doesnt want it to make it a Sam Raimi thing
The script is weak. His direction is outstanding.
@@lander.96 Agreed. But an 8/10 thanks to Raimi
@@lander.96 agree
It’s got raimi’s fingerprints all over it from a directorial and cinematography standpoint, but you can really tell he wasn’t the writer like he usually is allowed to be with his other films, his direction absolutely carried the film
I’m really hoping that he comes back and oversees the supernatural side of the MCU.
Sam Raimi should direct and be the writer of Dr Strange 3
@@amzz7713 Sam Raimi was never a script writer, though. But tbh, I prefer Scott Derrickson to return for Doctor Strange 3, so that Sam Raimi can be in-charge with the supernatural team of the MCU that will come very soon: Midnight Sons
@@salverobosa7135 Scott Derrickson's work in DS1 sucks. Sam Raimi made DS2 feel like an actual Dr Strange movie. He should direct the sequel
Y E S P L E A S E
@@salverobosa7135 I would prefer Scoff Derrickson working on a Ghost Rider project. I’m hoping Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson do something with Elsa Bloodstone. I would love if they brought some Buffy tone into that.
FINALLY. An interview that confirms they utilized Giacchino's original theme! Alright, I'm sold on the movie. Don't need anything else, I'm already hyped!
Sadly it was barely used
@@waybig011 it was used as a motif throughout the movie, which wasn't bad imo
Doctor Strange’s theme had some pretty signature and unique instrumentation imo which Danny elfman pretty much abandoned in favor of his usual string symphony (like the original spider man theme) and it’s a lot more generic in MoM tbh…
(spoiler-free, don't worry!)
Towards the end of the movie, during the last big fight scene, you can really see some of Raimi's trademarks with tilt-shifted close-ups as the tension grows to a climax. I really loved that.
The make-up and use of Strange's powers during that scene were just classic Evil Dead!
yes, i loved that you can tell it was a movie directed by sam raimi. Obviously its a marvel movie first, but there were so many instances where i was appalled that i was watching a marvel movie. Sam, in my opinion, nailed this movie, he's a fantastic director and its honestly my favorite marvel movie ever.
Brutal af
Definitely, but also in the previous scene at Kamar-Taj with the water.
The movie just EXUDES Raimi's spirit constantly, and that scene was like the culmination of that. Completely blew my mind
Sam Raimi really is the perfect fit for Doctor Strange. He just gets that weird, pulp horror vibe that permeates many of Dr. Strange's comic books. This movie is amazing, I can't stop thinking about it a whole month later
Too bad the writing wasn't fitting. Sam Raimi was a last minute pick for the director's chair based on the pick of Kevin Feige who bashed Dr Strange.
You know its going to be a one hell of a experience if its Sam Raimi directing it, he's such a fucking legend of a director who has a true passion and love to his own craft.
Sam Raimi did an amazing job with the movie
Agreed. Loved the movie too. The Horror elements were a nice touch.
His direction and cinematography absolutely carried the film
this film was awsome
Give this guy a real what if series ...he will show you the darker and the most and unpredictable possibilities in the vast multiverse
I love how Sam Raimi (my God) allways talks with absolute passion about all of his movies. And i can relate to the other guy, honestly i dont even know how i would react by meeting Sam Raimi
Right? Lol I love the fanboying, I would of been even worse if I met the man, he really is one of the greatest directors, an absolute legend
Raimi got me into movies when I was four years old, as well as introducing me to Spider-Man -my favourite superhero- and the Marvel universe -my favourite fictional universe-. Many years later, he introduced me to horror with Evil Dead, which has become my favourite film genre. If I were to ever meet Raimi, I think I would just say "thank you, thank you, thank you" on repeat, lol
@@Coldoroki His works, other than Evil Dead, are so underrated. Darkman is one of my favorites and it is awesome that there is a sequel on its way with Neeson and Raimi both returning, wow this is so freaking awesome! Raimi is a badass legend xD
Raimi is just human Allah is God
So exciting you got to do an in person interview again! Great interview once again BD!!
Sam Raimi has emerged from the mountains to demonstrate once again how to truly make a good CBM, can't wait to see it this weekend
CBM?
@@MasterChiefSpartan117 Comic Book Movie
Sam Raimi is part of my childhood. I grew up with his film.
Same!! Darkman, Evil Dead, Spider Man movies, even Drag Me to Hell, haha his movies are so freaking awesome 😆😎👌
There's definitely some big Raimi scenes, that are amazingly him, in this movie.
I love the fanboying from the interviewer lol, raimi really is a living legend among directors
3:54 changes/reshoots
Sam Raimi is so great!
“It's not about me” but Sam that's why you're movies are so good 😭😩
I really dont care what they say now. I've seen it and loved every minute of it.
Sam Raimi initially didn't want to direct any future superhero films, having lost faith in himself due to the critical and audience backlash he received from Spider-Man 3 (2007) due to studio interference from Sony. However, getting the call from his agent about this film encouraged him to try again, as he had thoroughly enjoyed the first Doctor Strange film (as well as the character himself) and wanted to see if he could live up to the challenge of meeting the audience's expectations once again.
Great interview BD! I’m so excited to see this movie!!
The scariest Superhero movie in history
ahahahahah
I’m literally laughing out loud at eye-popping
sam raimi like hidetaka miyazaki
they love doing their thing
Since Ash Williams is canonically in Marvel through the Marvel Zombies comics, i was really hoping we'd see Ash introduced to the MCU. But at least we got a Bruce Campbell cameo.
Ooooh? gotta research this one, thx~
Oh yea, haha they made a prequel to the MCU with ash William trying to warn the superheroes about the zombies, but was never able to make it in time. It was cool though that Spider-Man was able to fight off the infection for a few minutes at least.
He looks really old compared to last bts from spiderman. Damn , time flies fast. Sam raimi made our childhood memorable
Can someone tell how to get that fanart (put a link if you have) on the cover of this video? It's amazing.
He is the one that made the movie amazing ! Loved it
good questions from the journalist
Sam "The King" Raimi, I love him so much.
It's good to have you Mr. Raimi..
Imagine if this guy directed the supernatural side of the DC universe. Swamp thing, John Constantine, the Spectre, etc
The classic 1973 Olds Delta 88, in all of Sam Raimi's films has a sore spot with me. Because my family owned the exact same year and model of the car. It was yellow as well. And the sore spot comes from the cheap vinyl seats in the damn thing that would get extremely hot in the Summer, and when you'd get in it while wearing shorts, you'd burn your thighs when you'd sit on the seats. I hated that car for that very reason. We had it from '73 to '81 when we replaced it with an '81 Buick Regal. First year of that classic Grand National design. Beautiful car that was. We had a two-tone brown one. Only problem was the engine was a small V6, pre-fuel injection, and it was severely underpowered. Funny thing was that I made a comment that didn't age well, at all...I said, I don't see cars' interiors getting too much more advanced than that. Because for the time, it had a really nice interior, compared to the awful 70s interiors. As an 8 year old kid, I would have never guessed how high tech they would become some 40 years later.
Can't wait for this. Watching it this Thursday. 👌
Let us know what you think!
Don’t leave until “it’s over”
Ngl there were some parts that actually scared me
He is just the nicest guy
Love this man
That's cool, that's cool? Are you serious? Have you not watched No Way Home and welled up with tears when Tobey's Spiderman confronts Doc Ock to tell him that he's a good person? Danny Elfman's Spidey score is clearly audible.
Ppl to Sam Raimi, " You made movies with magic", Sam : " that's what every good directors did".
I saw the movie last night and it was awesome, I loved it! 👍🏻🎬
If anyone handles horror greatly, Feige has to hand it to Sam Raimi himself-- AND more of that intensity they built up with SM2 Octavius. Nothing holding his materials back, just purely inspiring story-telling.
"Excellent at their marketing" nah they spoilt too much 😭
I'd say he did succed.
Dang the one who’s doing the interview is a fan. U can tell lol.
If marvel to do marvel zombie universe, sam raimi will fit the job!
OH MY GOD I FUCKING LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH
😍
The Evil Cape that Dr Strange ( Evil Strange) had was just awesome 😎
I love him haha
Watching this after seeing the movie, I'm a little surprised by his "it's not about me" answer. I remember thinking that he Raimi'd the hell out of Dr. Strange in the best way.
Spidey 2 is miles better because MCU is so afraid of being intense and interesting
Sam Raimi deserved better!
Mr Sam Rami i know you just give us Ash vs Evil Dead but if you could give us another Evil Dead with bruce campbell pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Raimi’s elements of directing are all over this film. Idk what he’s talking about. Wanda crawling out like the girl from the ring, the Dr Strange corpse, just to name a few
I think he’s just being humble. Okay if he were to come out and be like “My style is all over this film” (which it is? it would make other directors in the MCU who haven’t had as much creative freedom give a side eye to Feige
I blame the writer
He really thinks the hospital scene in Spider-Man 2 is more intense horror than anything we see in Multiverse of Madness? Having seen the movie, I think several scenes are more intense than that.
I had issues in the film but damn the film was epic
The movie wasnt that bad, 5/10
I think Sam raimi did his part well. But I am not too pleased with the plot and the lack of emotional connection
You could tell he wasn’t one of the writers, but his directing absolutely carried the film
Sad to hear him talk about how he couldn’t really put his stamp on the film. He has such a unique style and it’s not surprising to hear Disney sucked all that creativity away from him. Marvel need to trust their directors more to come up with a unique vision for each film…they’re all starting to feel the same these days
Well, i think you need to see the movie first
@@elvioliuvandy1329 Did you watch the video? I’m going off what the director said. It doesn’t get more clear cut than that
@@TheBrownLamb Just watch the movie and find out
@@ven0m_spider073 Oh god no. I’m so beyond over 95% of these marvel movies. Most of them do absolutely nothing for me. I won’t support a studio that sucks almost every creative soul out of their creators
@@TheBrownLamb How about watching the movie first then judging it..
Bruh make a red pill Spiderman please
блин , какой он уже старенький, почувствуй себя старым называется...
Saw the movie yesterday, the whole movie does remind me of the old Spider Man trilogy especially Danny Elfman's theme on the background. Of course the horror sequence in this movie screams Sam Raimi but imo the movie seems a bit rush and there are things that I am slightly disappointed, compare with No Way Home to MoM, NWH is way better than this movie. I give it 6/10 for this movie.
Is a MUSICAL Film better?
Imagine 😂
No it wasn’t
Marvel and raimi do not mix
Yes they do
Spider-man trilogy?
Marvel Zombies Movie is right up there about to happen next
Movie was awful should of kept the original people who made the first one
the hulk was my favorite superhero until ruffalo turn woke. please Cumberbatch don't be woke bc Doctor Strange is now my favorite. be genuine please!
The movie was terrible story-wise but my God, Raimi was incredible
Movie sucked so hard 1 was much better
Haha this is the funniest thing i heard man you are really funny 😆
@@jdshady8381 its more funny that you think its a joke
It’s way better than 1, but it wasn’t amazing.
@@jdshady8381 hes right the first 1 was better
1st one was definitely more coherent and cohesive in terms of storytelling
