This just popped up on UA-cam and I had to laugh because (as I said five years ago), this was my old band. I had no idea this song was still being discussed.
As to where we went, like many bands, we just broke up and went our separate ways. Four of us still keep in touch, and Kristine is one of my very closest friends. None of us know where Brad (drummer at the time) went. I'm a professional photographer now, and I'm generally working on deadlines most of the time, which is why I didn't even know this was still being chatted about.
For those of you who posted lovely comments about this song, thank you. It means a lot to me (and will to everyone else, once I alert them to this page). I wish we'd had greater success but it never quite worked out for us. We did ASCAP showcases, Geffen and Atlantic came to rehearsals, we made the cover of College Music Journal and were profiled in the Los Angeles Times twice, we released this indie CD on the Piece of Mind label, got a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell, got played on KROQ twice, and then, things just kind of stopped. Which is sad.
We really worked so hard for so long. There were so many wonderful bands in LA that just never quite made it. I'm so glad that we recorded some of our music so we can say, hey, that was us, way back when. As to getting this on Spotify, I never even thought about it. Not sure how a tiny indie would go about doing that, but maybe I can look into it one of these days.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you again to those who said they liked the song and would listen to this kind of music if it was on a streaming platform. It's so lovely to read all these kind words, truly. It really means more than I can possibly say. You can find me on IG under @dinadouglass or @dinadouglasspunkrockphotography (different types of work on each account). Thank you again.

Nice! You make amazing music and Too Many Joes is a very underrated band. Though, I have one question for you. How many joes is too many?

So fun to see this song posted to UA-cam, as I was the singer of this band. We're all so grateful for the continued interest. I didn't know about the Reddit mystery until two years after someone posted looking for the band who performed "Say Something." An update on the band and what we're all doing now is here: www.andrenaphoto.com/reddit-mystery

It was a mystery because nothing was known, even though it sounded very good and it was a professional job. I am sorry that artists like you, so talented, do not receive the recognition they deserve.

Dina Douglass, is this your song? ua-cam.com/video/8I6rsyIKCUI/v-deo.html
Cause it is also a lost song for a while, someone wrote in the comments, it could also be the same voice.

This song really has an admirable 90s alt-rock sound, and with its gentle harmonies and close harmonies, I feel like it could have made a really valid hit

I found this song for the song. The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet, which is actually called, Like The Wind, and I really liked it a lot, it looks a lot like the songs of Lisa Loeb or the band Sixpence None The Richer, that sweet girl rock , ringing in a field full of flowers. I imagine that when I listen to this song

Very nice song, this goes straight into my Top 20 of the '90s. With upward potential!
Listening again two years later, it reminds me a lot of 'Stop the Tide', first single by His Latest Flame

    Actual lyrics:
I've seen her sit alone before
Never sure why she was black and blue
I've heard her cry like this before
I've known a lot of men like you
You might have treated her like something
I've seen her hide from you before
I've watched her cower in her room
I've heard her lie for you before
I've known a lot of men like you
You might have treated her like something
    Like you
You might have treated her like something
Why don't you realize and say no no
    Realize and say no no
    Realize and say no no
When you realize you say something
    Will you say something
(Second half of the song is a repeat of the first verse and two choruses)

    This whole things fishy.
    1. By evidence of the posters claims and the tracking of this band... it doesn't add up
    2. If the popularity gap made this song a mystery wouldn't the exposure at least create a backup of info for someone to discover WAY prior to now?
If this is legit them. They should SERIOUSLY capitalize on what's left of this if they are with us.

    • @xaver-p2
      @xaver-p2  7 років тому +38

It is legit. It's just a really obscure band that hardly anyone has heard of (and has broken up long ago). There are likely to be lots of bands like these which are undiscovered and don't exist on popular streaming services.

Why is the vocals so fucking hard to understand ? I’m not a native speaker but i think i can understand most vocals in songs, except this, it feels so weird. The only thing i can hear is “you might’ve treated her like something” . It’s really weird.
