This my new version of Aria Canons and Quodlibet is different from my cd edited by Dynamic in 2014 because it is without ritornelli as I usually play during my concerts. For several variations I changed the tune of the guitar with the fifth string in G.
I want to thank :
-M° Eotvos that with his work inspired my transcription
- the sound engineer Francesco Apolloni of PIMS Studio’s that is my third ear….. Aria, Canoni, Quodlibet e Aria da Capo from Goldberg Variations BWV988

This is beyond amazing. It can easily be placed among the best guitar recordings ever. Thank you for the many years of hard work, perseverance and strenght of will that allowed you to reach this level and gave us the chance to watch and listen to this absolute superb performance.
Samuel Conceição Thank you so much for your beautiful Words !
It is absolutely perfect.
Absolutely perfectly true. The hours, passion and dedication are unsurpassed. Bravo Mr. Salcito!!!!
Agree totally. Absolutely amazing to watch him play!
Sometimes that is not enough my friend, all that without motivation and the right enviroment to grow mean nothing. I know why Im telling you this.
I ate some lamb chops and drank some blood wine while listening to this. It was magnificent.
Yeah. Really rich flavor indeed.
Edit: Have you heard Sylvain Blassel's take on this?

@@msumungo yes it certainly is masterful.
I never thought the Goldberg Variations could be so well played on a guitar. Amazing
BACH is really a Guitar, not an Organ maybe.🙏
I'm truly impressed by your playing. This is so technically demanding that most players won't even try... but you completely own the piece and interpret it in such a beautiful musical way that it seems not to be difficult at all. Bravo, maestro!
Peter Laman thank you so much!
I love the Goldberg variations and on a whim decided to see if there was a version played on guitar. UA-cam rewarded me with this astonishing version - what a perfect blend of technical execution and pure feeling.
I feel so privileged: I can hear you play Bach's works on the guitar, and the maestro did not.
OMG! I used to think nobody plays this after Glenn Gould...simply stunned speechless...so unreal! If there's only one reason to live this life this is it!
Wonderful! (full of wonder . . .) ! . . . . all the finger-snapping magic of plucked strings, the roundness of a wind instrument, and power, timbre , and resonance of an unenclosed pipe organ. Wow!
This is what happens when you dedicate yourself to an instrument. Words cannot describe this.
Bach: the greatest art, the greatest technique, the greatest musical imagination. This performance conveyed all of them
A tribute to Bach, a tribute to guitar. A tribute to life. Thank you!
I’ve been listening and studying these pieces for years and I’d never thought they were possible to play on guitar. You sir, are absolutely an incredible musician. Well done indeed!
Level 99 of guitar playing, i believe there s nothing after this
A pianist who's never heard the Goldberg Variations before: I wish there was a transcription of this heavenly composition for the piano.
😃
The original piece was composed for the Harpsichord.
I think a pianist did transcribe them for piano once ummmm what's his name again, Gary Gold or something.
@@NegativeBodhiImage Glenn Gould and this piece is written for the Harpsichord.
@@PheresMusic I was joking.
Ancora infinite grazie e ammirazioni.
There are very few guitarists alive today who play with such verve, such understanding of the spirit Bach intended. You are a truly gifted artist and your attack on these musical fortresses is brave and fearless!
Bach is played with the head and sensitivity - not with emotion in a disheveled quasi virtuoso bel canto style. ua-cam.com/video/S2VKxnjOkxE/v-deo.html
@@JesusMagicPanties Mastery of the instrument aside, paradoxically you highlight precisely what is appealing about this performance and isn't about the other: emotion. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy it.
Brilliant. Astounding. Crystal-clear. Heavenly. BACH at his best.
Marco, I think Bach would give you a standing ovation. Wonderful musicality. Thanks for the gift!
Thank You , probably he would have smiled a lot ....:)
Know what'd be even more EPIC? All 30 variations on the ELECTRIC guitar. That'd be sick!
NOOO!!!
After Glenn Gould, piano, I was sure I'd never hear the Goldberg Variations on guitar so authoritatively. (Mr. Salcito, amazing ... everything, thank you!)
Yes, I absolutely agree.
The strings give this keyboard masterpiece a new life! Thank you.
Absolutely amazing. I just typed, " Goldberg Variations guitar, " and this magnificence emerged. I must now find the album that contains all of the variations, as I can assuredly say that, for me, the best piano rendition is that by Schiff; harpsichord -- Pinnock; and, now, guitar -- Salcito.
This takes me back to my first discovering this piece when I was a child shortly after Glen Gould passed away. It melted me and brought me to tears. This interpretation like Gould's brought me to tears. I was a young boy who loved playing guitar in rock bands. The Goldberg Variations changed my musical life. Your playing of this piece took me back to a very wonderful moment and also brought me to tears many decades later. Thank you for that Marco.
I'm so happy that Goldberg's Variations have raised such moving emotions.
Your reminiscence had a similar effect upon me. A cure for dry eyes !
I'm no guitarist, though I have "busked" on Violin during hard times.
He seems a very strong minded artist with a really fine taste for expressing Bach's counterpoint . Outstanding transcription for guitar and perfectly played. Thank you Maestro!
Esteban Peretz Thank you so much!
This only serves to reinforce my long-held conviction that the music of Bach has no bottom or limit to wonderful interpretation.
Well done Marco, it's always nice to have an old friend for dinner ✨🍷
What an outstanding right hand technique... This brings a plethora of flavors Bath itself would be impressed to hear
Grazie!
I cannot agree more with the previous comment!!! Majestic!
Goldberg Variations on guitar. Wow that's awesome. I recently bought your double CD with the complete set.
So many marvellous players. But only one divine composer...
complimenti vivissimi. Ancora complimenti
Scoperto solo ora: SPLENDIDO !!!!! Grazie.
Excellent! Extraordinary!
OMG, you got it, incredible, i always asked me if this piece could be play in guitare.
You are a master Marco. Thankyou so much for this present to us.
Das ist Perfekt! Dank schön!
An incredible tour de force, out of control
I smile with joy.
Meraviglioso!!!!!
Iscrizione e like istantaneo.

Beautiful! wow!
I know everybody knows it but I can't help saying it Bach was an absolute musical genius. It's the first time I listen to the Goldberg Variations on guitar. A b s o l u t e l y sublime!
There is a certain honesty in this interpretation that I rarely feel when listening to other interpretations.
Thank you so much
What a beautiful tour de force. Well worth it for one of humanity's great pieces of music. The ability for M Salcito to make the polyphony sing out and remain clear is incredible. And so we have a new version, for guitar, to add another facet to the way we hear this incredible music.
Maestro dei maestri!👏👏👏
he is awsome, his right hand dances, I have never seen anyone else with a right hand that moves so much and gives such a feeling and add to the mood
Thank you so much!
o my goodness. how can i thank you enough???
Omg.. such ornamental way of playing like literally, look at Marco's right hand.. so beautiful.
Best ever Seriously there are no words for this
Maravilloso, Bach siempre Bach
many times Bach makes me feel as if I would have listened before. Great composer, and performance too.
I got the CDs yesterday, and the transcription alone deserves an award. They give Grammys for garbage, and for this- nothing. What a world.
The transcription is total artistry and you have actually brought out colours to the music not heard before so natural on the guitar. Thank you this is a very special moment in the history of the classical guitar another star in the heavens.
Trascrizione impeccabile, esecuzione da paura. Marco Salcito!!!! Divino!!!
Antonio Passaro grazie mille!
The problem with most guitarists, as well as many pianists (except for Glenn Gould), is that they turn Bach's music into "classical" pieces, however well they might play it, they don't transmit the "spiritual" (or religious) dimension. At the end of his compositions, Bach regularly inscribed the letters “S. D. G.” (Soli Deo Gloria-“To God alone, the glory”). Very beautiful rendition of this Variation which is extremely challenging for the guitar. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
He plays this masterpiece so fine on guitar? I cant believe it.
Breathtaking beauty with full control par excellence !
Bugün tanıdım bu kanalı. Çok beğendim bu kanalı. Huzur buldum. Günlerdir burayı arıyormuşum. Performansınız, emeğiniz, enerjiniz için teşekkürler.
Un genio eterno interpretato da un maestro
Grazie Maestro Salcito.
Grande Marco Salcito!!!!!
Grazie Francesco!
What is most impressed me is that his treatment of the music. It is so sincere and honest. And because of that every note of this work has such a deep contrast of light and shadow which gives this performance true dignity. Great performance.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words😀
Amazing. What a joy to watch tremendous musicianship like this.
This performance was impressed on my mind, I bought your album.I have listened many "Goldberg" albums, your performance is most splendid to me.Sorry,I can hardly speak English. But, I want to express to you my gratitude from Japan.
Thank You very much I'm really happy You enjoyed my work!
Your english is just fine, japanese friend.
Gracias. Felicitaciones...
Time for illumination because we are all connected. Why so harsh? That was a sweet message from Japan.
Don't you think there is enough hate in the world already.....jeez.
Love from Austin TX
Very fine work, Mr. Salcito 👍
Disclaimer: No pianist was made jealous in the making of this video.
On a serious note, very amazing performance... Even the piano community is jealous hahahahaha.
UNBELIEVABLE !!!!
Incredible, so chilling and mysterious i am breath taken
moving beyond words
I'm blown away. Incredible virtuoso playing. I just discovered this on here and thank you for playing it for the world to enjoy.
Jesus, these pieces are hard enough on a keyboard where all the notes are right in front of you. I can't even fathom how much work it must have been to figure this out from a technical perspective. Hours and hours and hours...
too much actually... and result is still poor..
@@NenadStefanovicbach just like your mother
@@tosgemyou have a problem? Or you are just strong on words online? I guess you don't have idea what I am talking about... but you are just a noob with idiotic reply...
@@NenadStefanovicbach you are an elitist snob
Just because it is too difficult to play fugue on a guitar. It's super hard for guitar players to achieve the same level of performance as those famous pianists.
GRAZIE MILLE PER LA BELLISSIMA MUSICA
Had I not witnessed your video of your amazing performance of such technically demanding counterpoint-the Goldbergs, no less!-I wouldn't have believed this realization was even possible for one player on a single guitar. Thank you for your infallible technique and astonishing command of this cherished music!
I absolutely love this piece and have love Glen gould for years especially hearing him hum. But this is mind blowing. I now listen to this as much.
maravilloso
Amazing. The clarity amidst the complexity. This is true beauty.
by far the bestest performance on youtube. I dont know how you play all this wonderful stuff by Bach. My all time guiding light. Thanx heaps.
Astonishing and beautiful.
Enhorabuena.
It is very hard to believe that anyone in the world is able to perform the GV in such a beautiful way on a guitar, but Marco Salcito is doing just this. His guitar delivers an entirely different emotion compared to the piano. One even tends to think it must have originally been composed for guitar. Now, if I have ever heard a masterpiece, this is certainly one. I could listen to the Aria da Capo alone for hours.
DieDigitalDenkfabrik Thank you so much for your words!
Marco Salcito Marco my pleasure thank you in return for broadcasting! Yours Markus
I love how his facial expressions represents that how much he is enjoying playing it ...
Thanks ... It's the truth !
A gentle soul baring playing
Wow!!! Incredible clarity and separation of voices. Very musical!
My heart is touched by this music and this perfomance. Thank you very much!
alejandra gualdi thank you so much!
a unique transcription (very common practise those days) following the highest ideals of baroque in every aspect ...thank you so much!!!
I listen to your video everyday before I go to bed. Thank you
Thank You! I hope You will make beautiful Dreams 😀
Inspirational Marco.
I didn't think it was possible on guitar!!! Wow
Dear Marco, this is an incredible feat of musicality and inspiration. You have really given a voice to the guitar that is unique. I am listening to the album on Spotify often, almost obsesively. Your right hand technique is stunning, as a matter of fact it's beyond technique because there is no effort to it. You make it look easy, and you make it sound perfect. BRAVO!!
Give me 20 years and 500 edits and I could do this! ha ha. Wow, this is just fabulous.
This is first class, Just dont know how he does it!!
