I think the best time was 1993-1995 because technology and computer software was'nt as good like after. I think the artists needed a lot more creativity. The birth of this scene was at early until the mid nineties. You can feel and hear the difference to music after this time..

Totally agree between those years 93-95 so many classics & I don't thing you could make music like Eye Q for an example tunes like the volunteers - sun down, B-Zet- blue illusion flat horizon mix & the piano in nemesis-two minds so many pieces of beautiful music, Peace
I personally don't think the best era of Trance / Hardtrance has to do with technology nor creativity, but rather what was hip back in those years. Many tracks from 93-95 sound very similar. Tracks from the late 90s sound different etc. Truly original tracks are few far in between. Many tracks use very similar drum patterns, chorus and 303 bassline.
Personally, the best era of Trance / Rave was 93-95, especially 94'. This however is my own opinion.

This is the trance that we want to hear now, timeless!! Fortunately, many techno djs nowadays incorporate classic trance into their sets while "trance" djs made commercial crap out of this genre.
They diverge and call it 'progressive', the euro acid scene has it down atm, with their hard acid techno trance sets :D

@WATCHINGYOURTV You totally hit the nail on the head there. The advancement of computers and audio editing software has created a scene where creativity is no longer prized as it used to be in the creation of techno.
When it comes to music, creativity will always be king.

@WATCHINGYOURTV Hi, i know, 1993 was the peak of Techno/trance and the best years of techno/Trance were 1993 to 1995, just before House came into the (over) ground clubs (whwt a blame and shit!). In 1993 to 1995 there was the underground culture which before and afterwards never existed. It was the bst time of my life!!!!

@WATCHINGYOURTV I Totally Agree With Your Comment you really did need Talent for creating a whole range of new sounds & putting the equipment to its limits as of today you only need a Computer/Laptop a midi & some software which is brilliant as it opens it up to so many more people to make electronic music but for me Il always be an Analogue Lover : )

@somaton643 No way is this darker than modern hard trance, its MUCH more euphoric. Although I think this is much better.
@02sayep Well the modern hardtrance is divided into to parts, one that takes over too many elements of techno and one that takes over too many elements of dance ... Both are not dark
But I know what you mean ... In the early 2000s and around 05 there were quite a bunch pretty dark ht tunes =)

hard house started coming through about this time, that was pretty good stuff and quite techy untill the whole tidy trax thing screwed it up into image and popularity contests. sign of things to come unfortunately.

Classic trance often has some dark edges to it and the Dark Trance genre formed back in the early/mid ninetees ...
Speaking of the commercial shit nowadays, you're right ... But listen to stuff like Artha - DNA e.g. ;) It's a lot darker than this track ... (I consider this track as not dark at all but well ... ^^)

more boosted trance with heavy and harsh synthesizers and sometimes faster. If it goes close to happy hardcore than it becomes "makina" but you can easy recognize it.
