+Vela Vela Mind speaking a language that we can all understand? For all we know you could be cursing Her Majesty the Queen's name and getting away with it
From the comments I gather that Judas was someone who betrayed Jesus in the bible, is that correct? If I put that with this video, then wouldn't she basically just be saying that she still loves someone who has broken her heart or something, not that she loves someone who betrayed Jesus?
Marwa Majdoub I don't know if she's Catholic now, but I know at some point in her career, as well as growing up, she was Catholic. That's how she knew Peter built the house of God and alludes to it in her music video.
+ginro dino You are correct. How I interpret this song is that she can't stop forgiving and loving a guy who has betrayed her, even though it's the last thing he deserves; just as Jesus forgives those who don't deserve it.
For those who don't know, it's a reference to the biblical story of the anointing of Jesus. While visiting the town of Bethany, Jesus is visited by a "sinful woman", who anoints his feet and dries them with her long hair. The identity of the woman is often debated, but she is traditionally believed to have been Mary Magdalene, one of Jesus' closest disciples. Mary Magdalene, therefore, is often (erroneously) depicted as a former prostitute because of the "sinful woman" part. Mary Magdalene is often depicted in popular culture as being in love with Jesus (most famously in the 1971 musical Jesus Christ Superstar), and there are (debunked) rumors that she had a romantic/sexual relationship with him. So it's interesting how Lady Gaga is equating herself to this sinful woman, but one who is in love with Judas Iscariot, and not Jesus Christ, the one Judas betrayed. Edit: There's actually quite a bit more to this, in case you're interested. In that story where Jesus is anointed, Mary is actually chastised by Judas himself for wasting such an expensive ointment on Jesus (one of the stories dramatized in Jesus Christ Superstar). So even in the Bible itself, Judas is cruel to Mary. Essentially, this whole song is about someone who wants to move on to a newer, more wholesome partner, but finds herself still attracted to someone who didn't treat her well. And Gaga, quite brilliantly, uses a love triangle between Mary Magdalene, Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot as a backdrop for this situation.
@@derien9532 also a biblical reference..besides the condom part 😂 when they arrested Jesus, Simon cut off one of the soldiers ears during the fight. I grew up in a private Christian school and all I got from it was a deep understanding of a lady gaga song 😂

Just for the record, I’m Christian, Baptist specifically, and I find this song fine. It’s not actually saying she’s in love with THE Judas, it’s just using the story of Judas as a comparison/reference when talking bout an Ex she had that she loved but he betrayed her. Granted I don’t think this song is writing that well and specifically the end part is weird and when I first listened to this song I did think she was saying she loved Judas for betraying Jesus, which if that was the case then yeah I would’ve hated this song, but after reading the comments and listening to it again, it’s most likely about her Ex. Personally I don’t think it’s wrong to use bible stories as comparisons or analogies, it gets more people interested in the Bible or least the stories of the Bible, but maybe I’m wrong and to each their own. I don’t think she’s “not a Christian” or a “bad Christian” for singing this song and I don’t think that you’re a “bad Christian” for listening or liking it either, not saying she is or isn’t a Christian, i don’t know but just saying. Have any of you heard this old underlining plot where Mary Magdalene is in love with Judas? She is the torn between the man who saves her soul, and the man that satisfies it? Jesus is the man who removes her passion and Judas is the man that sets her passion to flight. It's as old as the story itself. This isn't satanic doctrine, but was a hotly debated interpretation throughout the Catholic church of the scripture when I was a kid in the 70's. If I member correctly, the story goes that Mary Magdalene is a woman who struggles with the dichotomy of her soul. The character of Mary Magdalene is a teaching tool for all of us as we struggle between the spiritual and the physical. Jesus is a frail man with inner strength and charisma and Judas is a physically powerful man with equally powerful charisma, but in a sexual sense. Magdalene is caught in the middle, between these two polarizing giants. (If you know the name of Jesus, you certainly know the name of Judas.) It is said, in this theory, that Magdalene is only truly saved when she witnesses the resurrection. My question is, how do you write about something you claimed to know about, are versed in scripture and such, but don't know these simple, old school thoughts and debates about these stories. It's like you haven't given any of your mind to what you say you know. Haven't you ever questioned what caused these events to transpire? Asserting G-d is all powerful, that all these events had taken places for a reason, and these reasons were enough to cause action, shouldn't you're own judgement, experience, and common sense lead you to see these events unfold somewhat naturally, as if they have a human aspect to them, thereby, giving a man with free will the ability to see rationally and logically the strife of what occurs to humans when they encounter divinity? No? You've never given this any thought? Then you are just sheep. Your lacking of responsibility to use your own mind. Why should I, or anyone else give credence to you or anything you believe in? At best, Lady Gaga exploited a wonderfully rich, underappreciated aspect in the Judeo-Christian cannon. This interpretation that Gaga gives EMPOWERS Mary Magdalene's femininity, her dichotomy, and the overall salvation of the character. At worst, Lady Gaga's interpretation leaves her throat exposed to wolves in sheep's clothing, such as yourselves. For your lack of insight, faith and willingness to be easily lead, you should be ashamed.

As someone who is gay, this song has a particular meaning to me. It symbolizes me as someone who used to try to resist my attractions to girls (the figure of Judas is a metaphor for that).
This song is about "forgive our own mistakes and move on", Gaga said: "We should forgive Judas (mistakes, bad feelings...) inside us and move on" it has absolutely nothing about religion, please, calm down!

as a Christian yes I've heard the story of Judas plenty of times and how he betray Jesus, but this song is in no way offensive to anyone, because she says even though he betray she still loves him and that's what being a Christian is all about we are suppose to love not hate, guide people to heaven not condemn them to hell.. that's all I'm going to say please lets not make this a huge argument, my point and the points of many, love the sinner hate the sin. thank you all and have a nice day

I am beyond repentance
(Story of Judas the Iscariot)
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
(Story of Jezzabel)
But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
(Story of Elijah)
Judas, kiss me if offenced,
(The Betrayal of Jesus)
Or wear an ear condom next time
I wanna love you,
But something's pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to
(Story of Thomas the Doubter)
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby he's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby
I'm just a Holy Fool, oh baby he's so cruel
But I'm still in love with Judas, baby
Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas
Ohohohoh
I'm in love with Judas
Judas! Judaas Judas! Judaas
Judas! Judaas Judas! GAGA
The music video also has a lot of Biblical references like the Mortem Lapidem, the engulfing wave, the Maundy, the spiked incense burner
You literally pulled all that crap out of your ass and made a metric shit ton of mistakes along the way. How embarrassing for you.
Oh WoW
@@dhrgkbqxtjr2743 Why so rude?
@@ea-tr1jh Because it's annoying when stupid people act pretentious even though they obviously have no idea what subject they're talking about
@@dhrgkbqxtjr2743 Does that justify your utter nastiness?
Old but Gold.
Preach👏
great, I get awkward around christian religion
I can't fangirl to this song without feeling so awkward
eh that's what I get for relating it to a biblical game

Xephonix Oh no. The original video is filled with stupid ass people commenting "OMG THAT'S THE GUY FROM THE WALKING DEAD!!! ♥" And it's like 85% of the comment section.
ik! its like on every skating vid ever, there are more posts telling people to stop comparing Yuri to Yuzuru Hanyu than there r people actually comparing the two (c'mon there has to be some YOI fans here!)

ありがとうございます🙏!!
I never realised how amazing the lyrics were in this song! It's a shame that some people will miss what she's singing, in many of her songs :o
As someone who is gay, this song has a particular meaning to me. It symbolizes me as someone who used to try to resist my attractions to girls (the figure of Judas is a metaphor for that).
i was born into a very religious family and i literally used to BLAST this on full volume as a child-
*i am the righteous hand of god😌🫰*
This song slaps 🛐🛐🛐
Damn, this came out in 2011?! I feel like it came out 2013 at the earliest.
Cassandra Emagena same
2013 was when songs like ARTPOP and Applause were being made and released lmao
Most of the comments on this video are complaining about christians commenting on this video. .w. i dont even see any christian comments...
The Christian comments have drowned! X'D
"Jesus is my virtue, and Judas is the demon I cling to"
This is far better than the video version...
I'm not a big Gaga fan, but this isn't bad
Wayne Blackwood me too

Lady Gaga doesn’t mean she *loves* judas she meant that ‘Judas’ is the one that betrays her or something;-;
I don’t know~_~
She's using judas as a metaphor for her ex lover who wasn't the best

Michelle Eichtinger every catholic likes this song? So what’s the problem
This song is about "forgive our own mistakes and move on", Gaga said: "We should forgive Judas (mistakes, bad feelings...) inside us and move on" it has absolutely nothing about religion, please, calm down!

One of her best songs
Such an addicting song
What she says:I'm just a holy fool but baby he's so cruel
What I thought she said:I'm just a horny fool but baby he's so cool
She DOES say horny fool
I thought it was "I'm disappointed oh but baby he's so cruel"
that is exactly what I thought she said too!!! thank God for the lyrics video.......
I love this song she is awesome.
That moment when this song turn on in the party !!! oh yeah bae

I really like this song, especially the chorus. She really is a talented artist.
Can’t wait to see Gaga dec 28th in Vegas!!!!
I love this song amazing
I love how people throw themselves at Lady Gaga for singing about someone who betrays, when is the same person who created the song "Born This Way", a song that helps people with low selfsteem problems and insecurity, result of the awful bullying, more than a lot of people would do for them today.
To all the ladies in here, including males, please thing twice before posting something you may regret one day, thank you. Have a nice day.
"or wear an ear condom next time" HAHAHA I NEVER KNEW SHE WAS SAYING THAT
I’m here from TikTok after 2 years of trying to figure out what this song is called cause I heard in a cosplay vid and found it catchy
I saw a orochimaru cosplay!!
Yes. Welcome
I came from a TikTok where a girl was kissing draco Malloy
@@manishagupta8125 lol
I definitely can relate she isn't actually talking about religion that's where people get confused she talking about her boyfriend who did all those things lie or cheat or whatever even after he betrayed her she still loves him and she feels it's wrong but she keeps going back to him that's what I think not sure though
as a Christian yes I've heard the story of Judas plenty of times and how he betray Jesus, but this song is in no way offensive to anyone, because she says even though he betray she still loves him and that's what being a Christian is all about we are suppose to love not hate, guide people to heaven not condemn them to hell.. that's all I'm going to say please lets not make this a huge argument, my point and the points of many, love the sinner hate the sin. thank you all and have a nice day
you have my respect,sir.
big like for this (y)
Starr yuki Miller thank you :)
Comment of the day!:)
*Clapping*
Dominique Laborde I just hope is not way to promote Judas instead of Jesús. Otherwise it's against morality and can influence the vision of Jesús. Jesús was nd still his the paragon of truth, love, courage, our Lord. 😊
I CAME HERE FROM THIS SONG BEING ON TIKTOK- I MISS THISSSS
I LOVE THIS SONG :D :D :D
