Making an 18th century gown from Ikea materials

  • Presenting an 18th century dress I made with materials and fabrics from Ikea. The fabric is the "Ljusöga" model, a fabric print based on historical eighteenth century examples. This dress is based on historical examples but I am not a dress historian, this is not really historically accurate. I used mostly the sewing machine to make this gown, and of course the DIY trim from an Ikea bag was just a fun thing to do. It is worn over the historical underwear, shift, corset (stays) and petticoat I made before:

The simple black velvet trim looked so pretty tbh. (Very much my taste ❤️) But the Ikea bag is so original... How could you not choose it? 😂

Nice Rococo twerking there! The dress looks great, and SO much work. I think the IKEA straps are fun, but agree that maybe you can fancy them up later. My favorite thing at Ikea are the Swedish meatballs in the cafe.
