Just a headsup: I merged two of my Gmail accounts the other day and in the process a lot of my UA-cam information was deleted. Apparently this also includes my comments and replies so now it looks like people in the comments section are talking to themselves...
This is genius... Whoever came up with this idea needs to be involved with the series. This documentary should have been a part of the ''extras'' menu in the remake. BRAVO to amazing Shelley Blond and everyone involved with this!
I think this is (by far) the best fan-made Tomb Raider related item ever!! Oh my God, it's perfect, simply perfect!! As archaeologist and historian myself, I firmly state that this is what a History/Archaeology documentary should be: instructive, entertaining, well edited, well scripted... Thanks for doing this, I'll wait for more to come!!
Incredible this feels like an official extra made for a collector's release or tv special. Criminally underrated hope the newest episode and it being TR 25th anniversary gets you the attention all those involved in this project deserve.
I can't believe I'm only discovering this after years of watching Tomb Raider content. I feel like I've stumbled upon a piece of the Scion myself, how incredible this is. Most of all I love that you hired Shelley Blond and didn't (couldn't) steal her likeness through AI like I see many other videos doing now.
What a brilliant video. I'd honestly never thought about the overall structure of the St Francis Folly section before and I love the idea that it's a vertical structure that goes further back in time the deeper you go.
Just came across this as I was looking up history on Tomb Raider given the impending rereleases of 1-3. Love how this is produced, the history and addition context coupled with the story…simply brilliant.
Incredible, entertaining, and educational. Fantastic job with the editing. Having the original voice of Lara Croft was so incredible. I'm excited for the next episode.
Such an excellent video! Reminds me of the old history tv shows I watched as a kid. Recently I've been on a tomb raider bing and have always been in love with the classic games but never played them till now. I never realized how much of a walk through history they were but its amazing how timeless this game and Lara herself really are especially today! 🥰❤️🔥
Thank you so much for your comment! "A walk through history" is such a great way to put it. You're never or seldomly directly confronted with genuine historical information yet the games are filled to the brim with them if you look closely enough. That always fascinated me the most about playing them growing up.
This series is so well produced! It must have taken you so long to put this all together, but it turned out so well! I feel like I'm watching the BBC. I definitely agree this is the crème de la crème when it comes to online Tomb Raider content!
Man this video has been a rollercoaster ride. Only found it because I got nostalgic for the PS1, then I see Shelley's name and got even more excited, then I started watching it and my joy went through the roof! Then I saw the amount of views it has and got saddened by the criminal lack of notice this series has gotten. A documentary about history and geography around THE exploration video game of our time! Narrated by none other than the very first voice of one of the most legendary video game protagonists of all time!!! How does this not have millions of views?? Also Shelley if you ever see this I also loved you in Peep show, wish you'd done more episodes!
@@SimonBucherHistory actually I got so excited I decided to replay the entire series, well at least the PS1 ones haha. I really hope the UA-cam algorithms bump this to the front page for you soon man. I don't understand how this has so little views. It's superb!
Wow, this was great, being narrated by the original voice of Lara was a fantastic touch. Very well done professionally made documentary, thanks for the your amazing effort. Look forward to watching the rest.
@@SimonBucherHistory Thank you for providing this great content for us Tomb Raider fans, judging by the rest of the comments people love it. It definitely deserves more views.
Thank you so much for this!!! I learned so much not only about the true history of what's presented in the original game, but parts of the story that completely went over my head (mainly why the dinosaurs were in the Lost Valley). Completely eye-opening. It was also amazing to hear the information presented by the original (and my personal favorite) Lara Croft, Shelley Blond. Excellent work; this was very well done.
1:00 Oh my god~ The.voice 🤩. 3:20 Like the music. 17:50 omg, that close (art and game). 19:00 Actual picture😲. 24:25 Music reminds me of Yugioh. 26:40 Whao! Thank you !! ED is perfect.
Amazing first episode! This was such a great idea and I honestly can't wait to see more. Hearing Shelly Blond again on the episode just made me feel so nostalgic and brought me right back.. it's almost like hearing Lara think aloud again ^^ FANTASTIC work :)
+CroftManor No.. thank you for the video, I must watch it again soon. I only wish that Shelly spoke more in the original game :) Makes up for it here though haha
Almost 40 minutes and still my attention never wavered away. This was so interesting and so much detail, that I am amazed how deep Tomb Raider even went into their historical accuracy. And then there's you! Discovering every detail and combining them with the game, it's so impressive! You really did a very great job, and I really can't wait for the second episode. I just learned so much, that I hoped every video game out there was historical accurate and made me learn more about history like this. Chapeau on a great pilot and a great start to an amazing series!
This was a very educational and ornated view of Tomb Raider. wow, it's suprising, how much history related stuff was actually in the games, and its amazing how well you implemented that in form of a documentary. Great job Simon, Shelley and all the other people who worked and helped, so that this film could be what it is!
How could I find this just now? This was so well done and Shelley is just the perfect narrator for this. I grew up with the Tomb Raider games, playing all the classics on the PS1 with my dad in my youth. And I still love the Saga until today. I really enjoyed watching this video, especially listening to Shelley, the first voice of Lara Croft who has introduced us to this Saga all way back in 1996. Can't wait to see the other parts!
I have been a fan of Tomb Raider since I was 3 years old and these documentary-style videos are so well-made, well-edited, fascinating and an incredible tribute to this wonderful series! I'd also love the idea of doing the narration for one of them. I can happily send in a recording of myself from my own mini-script. It'd be so cool to be a part of something like these. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a fantastic day!

Excellent job! Knowing the story behind the game and how the designers were influenced by these historical places to create a very good story. One thing they left is that Tartessos, a culture who inhabitied the south of Spain, is partially connected to the myth of Atlantis. Recent discoveries have pointed out this but game was released in 1996. Great video anyway. First Tomb Raider is my favourite game as it is part of my childhood. You should have used more scenes of the original game. And one last thing: I like how you pronounced "conquistadores" and "Francisco Pizarro". I am Spanish, that's why I am saying it :D. Thanks for the video!
One word... WOW! (Additional words) how hard have you worked on this? If you actually traveled to those places for this, WHY DIDNT YOU INVITE US!!!??? omg! This could’ve been fun adventure!!! Well, this is great, it’s like you’re trying to prove that Lara is real and alive and still going through her adventure! Subscribing!

A fantastic video with great splicing of game and real world footage! The only thing I noticed is the narration could be a little slower, this is something that I would to see changed for the next video. All in all though wonderful content!
