First of all... speaking at a distance of two feet away is not how either one was designed to be used. I've the 104, even have a foam windscreen, and it's as sweet as can be. And on the used market it's not really all that much more expensive than an SM7B with an extra cloud lifter. I paid less than $600. I prefer the clarity of the Neumann and the old notion that dynamics are quieter than condensers is absurd. I've found that by having to push the gain higher to drive a quiet dynamic, RE20 for example, can introduce all manner of extra noise depending on the interface or the mic. They're all over the place noise wise. I've spent all manner of money on all manner of different mics over the years and found that it's just better to spend the extra and not quibble over the price so much. The "sound" is what we're after.

"Screwdrivers and microphones don't really go together, do they?" 😂😂😂 Holy cow -- the minute you switched to this mic, I got a headache! I really don't dig this mic at all. Awful. And I thought I didn't like that Beyer Dynamic mic!

In fairness it is nicer closer in from memory but I didn’t record that. I assumed it would be sort of warmer but it’s quite like the 103, a bit much in the presence department for some things
