  • If the only force acting on an object is gravity, we automatically know some things about the kinematic variables and can use this info to predict motion. For example, the acceleration in the vertical direction will always be 9.81 m/s/s down, because gravity accelerates everything on Earth at this rate if there is nothing pushing up on the object. If we "drop" an object, that tells us that the initial velocity is 0 m/s, because it is not moving up or down to start off. If we want to know about the maximum height that an object reaches, we know that the final velocity of the object will be 0 m/s, because an object will rise until slowing to a stop before falling back down in the other direction.

Great video! I was wondering though, how do we round our answers in physics ?

erm a dumb question but since the acceleration is constant, will one equation (if variables are known) be correct?

from the 2.04 sec time to reach max height .do we not count the time as twice meaning going up and the down before i consider that one of the 50m height??

erm i think you are right acording to motion graph

why is it -9.8 for the second part of the last question its fallling down from max hight

      i mean the acceleration

erm well it really depend on your frame of reference, but if you decide that falling down mean negative velocity(going opposite direction to the positive velocity), then acceleration of the faling down motion should be negative as well, -9.8 mean your velocity is increased by -9.8/sec per sec(the object accelerate faster negatively-or downward
) this could be all explained by doing a v-t & a-t graph
