      If she is ever around another horse, she will do it again because now she wants revenge. She will kick the dog, throw the cat, because she will feel like animals are the enemy. She won't see it as an abuser being caught. They should have found her guilty. And where do vets get off saying the kick obviously hurt the horse, so there was no reason to go check him out. Does that make ANY sense? Don't use those vets.

    • @StableHorseTraining
      @StableHorseTraining  11 місяців тому +7

      The vets were saying that they don't even need to look at the horse, it was abused without even needing to examine it. Either way, no examination is going to find any wounds on the horse. There's no chance that lady can kick hard enough to barely bruise a horse's chest, so an examination would find nothing. They were good vets and said the right thing.

    The tragedy of the whole thing is that she's still allowed to own horses!! 😡 She definitely 💯 percent should have been found guilty, heavily fined, done some jail time, and the most important thing in my opinion, is she should NEVER be allowed to own ANY kind of animal again!! CUT AND DRY, THATS IT!! That was a beautiful horse 🐴 can't imagine what a sad life he / she must live 🥺. And your right Graeme, the horse doesn't fight back because he's so use to that simply being his life. What a horrible person, I sure wouldn't want to be in her shoes come judgement day!! The problem is horses are classified as livestock, so the same behavior that would be considered abuse if applied to dogs or cats is seen as ok. Its like how its illegal to crop dogs tails or ears anymore, but fine to crop tails of lambs or dehorn goats. Dehorning baby goats is honestly horrific, it's burning deep into their head with no pain relief, and any hornless goat you see (probably the majority of goats) has had this cruel procedure done to them.

    I remember seeing this when it first emerged. Not only is she completely fine with abusing horses in public, but right in front of children as if it's at all correct. It really makes you wonder what she does behind closed doors. Disgusting woman
    Forgot to add she's a former teacher, someone who opening kicks and punches any animal shouldn't be allowed anywhere near children. She did lose her job after this incident but for me that's not enough, she should have faced legal repercussions. I'm baffled how she didn't get prosecuted, here in the UK we have animal welfare laws in place to prevent stuff like this, yet nothing happened. She lost her teaching job, her position at the pony club she was apart of, and the social backlash, yet as far as I'm aware she wasn't even fined for this incident. In my eyes the LEAST that should have happened should have been a hefty fine and a ban from owning any animal, and shunned from every stable she tried to associate with

    When she was asked if she would do it again she said absolutely not because "I have lost everything including my career and livelihood." So you are right there is no remorse from her just the consequences of her being caught. Taking a step back further this woman clearly does not understand horses. She had said she wanted to reprimand the the horse immediately for it's behaviour . Kicking a horse or punching or slapping an animal will as anyone would know teach the animal nothing except to be fearful and to associate the person with pain. She says her horses have an idyllic life, they may have fields and good grass but with her as their custodian it would be lives lived in fear. So if the public are appalled by her and are voicing freely their disgust she'll know the concept of living with the anxiety the horses she owns must feel .

    SHE KICKED THE HORSE IN THE CHEST. STRAIGHT UP, NO CAP. How is that debateable as abuse? Stroking a horse's chest can arouse them, it's a sensitive area, he felt that throughout. The assurance with which she strikes the poor animal, yes she's very comfortable hitting them! I don't even know why you'd hit an animal that didn't run away, and instead came to you. Idk, if she's lost her job as a teacher and now people see what she's capable of as a horse trainer, maybe that's for the best. Death threats are bad, don't do that. I can't even fathom what kind of shit the jurors have seen that this wasn't perceived as abuse.

      A horse can very easily strike with a front hoof, very fast, bite very hard and fast with their teeth (which yes they usually do have sharp teeth and a VERY powerful jaw) and will sometimes just tackle and smother an opponent, let alone their back legs for striking. I didn't understand the double negative at first, now I get it. The children have seen it so often then just turned away rather than stare at it open mouthed like they would be if it was the first time. I dated an equestrian for years when I was younger... It really is a microcosm unto itself that I never appreciated - and I still don't. That said, my ex gf, who not only tried to kill me at least once whilst together, routinely optioned her daily frustration and pent up emotional baggage towards our pony. It isn't just a lack of self control with the women in these hobbies. I saw every woman at the livery yard at one point or another also abuse their animals. It's accepted because how much harm can a girl's fist really cause a 1200-pound horse?!

    • @StableHorseTraining
      @StableHorseTraining  11 місяців тому +1

      There are many men that are worse... Less of them, but this isn't a gender issue, it's an individual person issue. It's true that I can't even punch my horses hard enough to really bother them, so while I get that a human just can't directly do damage to a horse, it's mean. Then when the weapons come in, it's a different story. Whips, ropes and spurs and bits all do permanent damage physically to horses as they are both made of a harder material and can be used in a leverage fashion. It's a weird world full of animal abusers with so much trauma built up inside themselves... and then surrounded by people that have it to whom also justify violence as a way to get things done. Then they go to the Olympics...

    The second horse that I rescued had been beaten by a person and killed the person. The horse was tried for murder and the judge ruled not guilty because it was self defense. A man was given the horse custody, but the horse was so scared that it wouldn't let anyone around.
    I was aroun 13 at time. We were visiting the family and I was told to stay away from the horse (actually it was a medium sized pony. The pony kept looking at me with such loneliness and sadness that I had to disobey and go to the horse. I put my hand out to him and he smelled me and let me pet him. He really melted in my arms and was snuggling up to me
    The guardian of the horse told my parents to look and they were surprised.
    The guardian asked my parents if he could give me the pony, so they called me over and asked me if I would take the pony.
    He was a Palomino pinto and we named him Tonka. I retrained him gently and he ended up being a very sweet kind horse and a great children's pony. As long as you didn't threaten him or slap him he was the sweetest pony you could have.
    I almost Hope's she gets a horse that defends itself, but I wouldn't want the horse to lose its life.
    The person that abuses another a living thing is evil.

    Holy shit how can anyone watch that video and not immediately think it's abuse. It's like you said if she's this comfortable doing this in public she 100% does it on the regular in private. It was probably a jury of people who don't know horses and think because they're large animals they can take some hits that a small animal can't. If it were a dog it would be a slam dunk guilty case but because it's a large livestock animal most people don't have experience with or knowledge of it doesn't trigger the same response in them.

    This surprises me and it doesn't surprise me. It surprises me because England has some of the strongest animal welfare laws far surpasing our own and there are constantly cases where people have been found guilty for less. It doesn't surprise me because there still are old school equestrians out there who believe this is the only way to teach horses . They still believe in the now disproved methods from the dark ages and she's going to have people around her who see nothing wrong in what she did and will support her and stand up for her because this is what their fathers did and their grandfathers. The only way to make her understand how wrong she is is to shun her at shows, freeze her out but watch her very carefully in the future. I would even go so far as to never sell a horse to her. Unfortunately her children are going to suffer collateral damage because of her behavior. One day she's going to push a horse too far and it will retaliate ( and rightfully so) and she might end up with severe injuries because of it. Even though justice was not done in this case we do need to be aware of this kind of abuse and if we see it, report it. Report it to the ring stewards, the judges, the show organizers and any other authorities that will listen. File formal complaints and follow up on them. Get the Police and animal wefare agents involved. If we see it we have to speak for the animals that are sufferring it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention because we all need to know what still goes on out there.

    • @StableHorseTraining
      @StableHorseTraining  11 місяців тому +5

      This is an interesting question presented, it leads to thoughts that you're questioning if it's abuse to kick or slap a horse because horses bite and kick each other.
      The attending vet and horse specialist were correct in that a physical examination wasn't needed as there is very little chance the horse was physically damaged by her low power slaps and kick. Horses do take some serious damage from other horses via kicks, bites and strikes and they sure seem to come out of it unfazed or damaged most times. It amazes me to be honest.
      That said though, the behavior is pretty much NEVER for horse to horse in comparison to this human to horse interaction. Horses don't attack for nothing. Horses project their intention well. Horses don't tie other horses up and hit them. Horses don't hold on to a rope on another horse's face and hit them. Horses don't do this over and over and over again to where the other horse has just plain given up on fighting back.
      So, while the abuse certainly isn't about physical damage, the actions, behaviors and intention are all 100% abuse as a human is a higher thinker and most certainly wasn't protecting anything at the time and it was just "punishment", which made no sense to the horse as it had simply walked away from the inept child and went to the other.
