Nah, there’s a huge difference between a lightsaber gun and a blaster. Blasters are deflected by like every barrier. Lightsabers cut through like every single thing ever.
darren - i said pretty much. I know lightsabers are powered by kyber crystals, and blasters are not. I'm just pointing out that he basically described blasters. And even if there was a "saber gun" powered by kyber crystals, it'd probably be just as fast and easily deflected by another lightsaber. And it'd be way too dangerous to have a laser just keep fuckin going yknow? It'd be dope for sure, but it's been proven that lightsabers are a great defense against projectiles. So another laser gun is just pointless ya feel?
If that was true they could never use cover because the laser would go through everything and never stop. Also whenever some is shot by a blaster they just fall with no hole in them, but a light saber cuts through them like rice. So clearly the blaster laser is not as good of a laser as the light saber laser.
Regarding the discussion on tenure: tenure doesn't mean you can't be fired. Tenure means you can only be legally fired under very limited circumstances. Those depend on the university you're in, but usually that boils down to doing something illegal or sexual harassment. So if you go into work and do a big ass line of coke, you're probably not coming back. Also, you're probably going to jail for a while. Additionally, adjuncts face more demanding research and teaching requirements and they can be fired for not meeting those. Tenured professors face more relaxed requirements, if any. Furthermore, depending on state laws and regulations, more and more adjuncts are being forced to become "at will" employees which is a legal term of art - it means the employer can let them go for any reason whatsoever. A tenured position can only be terminated "for cause" - which requires illegal behavior, sexual harassment, gross negligence or something truly egregious to even set off the termination proceedings. Firing an adjunct is pretty easy. To fire a tenured person, there's a much more complicated, extensive process that needs to take place including official hearings, quasi-legal proceedings and potentially going to court. The point of tenure is to guarantee the safety of ideas and discussion in universities. It makes sure that universities can't fire extravagant professors or those that simply propose radical ideas that are scientifically unorthodox at the time. It's unfortunate therefore that education has become much more like a business that wants to be able to fire employees left and right as long as it suits their image and profit margins. Tenure positions are now rarer than ever in history and it has made academics into paupers. The erosion of tenure holds back scientific progress and drains the scientific community of talent.
Francisco Rodrigo Lazcano Acevedo Well the problem with Venezuela can also be easily attributed to the socialistic ideas that the previous and current government have been using. The wealth has left the nation because the wealthy are not safe there. If a government can come and take your private property no questions asked then you ultimately end up in a situation that people do not want to be in. But given how you said you believe States are antithetical to socialism I take it you understand that Socialism will never truly be enacted in any actual capacity.
Imo it didn't really age as much as the public consciousness came around to his shortcomings. I was not immune to this either, I certainly had at one point in my life liked Elon. But in my defense I was like 21. There's a broader issue with what Rob is saying though, not that you or anyone cares. Specifically around the ideas that a philanthropic billionaire should be allowed to do whatever they want to do with their money if it's "doing something good". 1. Compounding with tax breaks for donations (which is to me against the spirit of charitable giving, and I believe charity should not be a tax deduction) is the money to charity can go to things related to the charity, not the actual cause. Charitable events/fundraiser which can essentially just become parties and may not serve any more purpose than raising "awareness"? Set up an organization and hire a bunch of your family and friends to work in the organization and pay them? All very possible. 2. A lot of the "I'm going to give money later or at the end of my life" stuff can just be revoked. Bill Gates could totally change his mind, or maybe some huge personal disaster comes around and wrecks him and his organizations financially. The promise of future money means nothing until it's actually donated. This is completely besides the idea that if you have the money on hand to work on severe problems in the world and don't, you're kind of an asshole. 3. Paternalism. It's a common issue with charitable giving that an individual or organization thinks they know the things a population needs, often misaligned with the actual underlying problems. An example would be a cause that gives children backpacks and some school supplies, but the money could arguably better be spent improving the public schools or supporting the families more directly so they could put the money to what they need. Maybe they have their backpacks and school supplies already sorted, but struggle with transportation or have food issues. 4. External charitable giving can disrupt internal grass roots efforts to organize and create solutions for issues a population faces. An extreme example: Why would we work on building infrastructure for water procurement and sanitation when we are brought bottled water or large tanks of potable water from Dasani. To extend this, aquafina could have just started a bottling plant on a lake or river, and are exporting a majority of the water, and "donating" a small amount to local struggling populations. But now the population has less access to water for themselves or farming or whatever. Anyway, all that to say that charitable donations are not an inherently positive force, and have some clear criticisms. Charitable giving can still be important, just some things to keep in mind.
You gotta remember that parades started as a show of military force to discourage rebellion and make people feel protected. All the bread and circuses stuff got added with time.
That Tarkovsky quote perfectly sums up your discussion about Burton. 58:30 "If you try to please audiences, uncritically accepting their tastes, it can only mean you have no respect for them".

Morte Faery I may have actually been underselling it. I've seen multiple tweets of him complaining that he had slept for 12 hours several nights a week. I am a few years younger than him and he reminds me of my 16 year old cousin. I don't begrudge people with sleep problems but I do begrudge people who just complain about it without actual changing his habits. It's almost as though no exercise, playing video games all day and always drinking coffee is a terrible idea.
They can both be uppity about their opinions, but the shit Rob gets uppity about is some semblance of correct/sensible/typical. Austin meanwhile gets really fucking silly about specific things that makes him come off as someone whose diet consists almost solely of chicken tenders, fries, and spaghetti (after having his mom pick out all the visible tomato), which I believe he said was basically the case until recently in his life. So while I can understand where his malformed taste comes from and that he can't help but be wrong, FUCK YOU AUSTIN DON'T YOU DARE SHIT TALK SOURDOUGH BREAD
There's a relatively famous place called the Field of Screams in Pennsylvania that even when you're just walking around the common grounds people will dart out of the shadows at you in various makeup. A few have chainless chainsaws.
-how would you go about picking art for your new apartment? -I'd go "hey Kate, what art should we..." -no, Kate's not an option! -she's dead? like that's the only way for NL to not ask for kate's input, is if she's dead
If I were to pick one piece of art over another, I'd rather have something that actually just looks nice rather than a "conversation starter". Patterns are cool, space is cool, flowers are cool, spooky or just really nice landscapes are dope. I'm alright with abstract if it's like, some weird dark galaxy looking thing, but I'd rather my art not just be a single shape, or look like a 10 year old made it. I'd prefer art without people in it, and I'm not just looking for the typical fruit bowl painting with some grapes, some oranges, apples, and a vase of flowers.
Well, with the unfortunate turn in the arts, art like what you are describing is becoming more rare. Relativistic interpretation is ruining majestic or otherwise noble art because someone can haphazardly throw paint and it will be deemed a masterpiece. But that is apparently a controversial opinion.
I’m not that into modern art either, but you can’t just write it off as “looking like a 10 year old could make it”. That’s dishonest. A Jackson Pollock painting actually has very technical brushstrokes and composition. “Haphazardly throwing paint” is not the point. It’s interesting how modern art can evoke an emotion without drawing on familiar imagery, or the clichés that come with the so-called “noble art” that you describe. The fact that these new styles of art are emerging is a great thing, because the art world is now open to wild experimentation, free from the endless cycle of portraitists and landscape artists in high demand before these movements. P.S. The fact that blank white canvases sell for millions of dollars is still bullshit.
My safety harness wasn't on all the way when they started up Drop Zone at Great America. Luckily I let them know and they stopped it and fixed it correctly. Loved the view, but hated the drop. Never getting on that ever again. Now that I know that someone died on it, NOT GOING NEAR IT!
Regarding the Elon Musk thing: The main thing people have against him (from what I've heard) is the anti-union/anti-workers rights thing that NL mentioned. All that other stuff (not liking Futurama and w/e) if course doesn't matter, but the way he treats workers is actually really shitty. I still the actual work he's doing and he's obviously very smart, but I do wish that he wouldnä't go full on cold blooded capitalist at all times.
Adrian Sanada Sure, HE has gotten far but that's not what I'm talking about. It's about the people that he has used to achieve his position and wealth. Don't they deserve fair compensation and security for their work? Also, the argument was about some people thinking he's an asshole. Is being a shitty person okay if it makes you rich and famous? I don't think so. And again, not saying he's all bad either, but just because someone does good doesn't mean you can't call them out on doing bad things too.
They don't want to lose viewers and stuff. They want to try to make everyone happy and enjoy their content. People who can't handle that and leave are just as bad as people who gets offended easily and leaves, so they gotta choose. Plus it adds to the humor for when they DO say something offensive. Hitler saying "Kill the Jews" isn't nearly as funny as a normal person who never says that suddenly saying that. They can do comedy without relying on controversial things to be funny, if that is not what someone wants there are plenty of other channels who does. Sorry for the long message, I ain't offended nor angry, I just ramble when I comment since I'm like "Oh, this is another point! Oh, another point!"! Thanks for reading this!
I don’t understand this comment. Are you living in a universe where Beavis and Butthead are champions of comedy? You don’t have to be offensive to be funny, and NL isn’t even that big of an offender. Hmm, what’s missing in the NLSS? Oh I know, more jokes about how white people are better than black people! Now that’s what I call comedy. If anything, the show is better because everyone (except Rob) doesn’t rely on cheap shock factor all that often. That’s not the NLSS brand.

1:48:03 is it bad that I legit laughed out loud at the image of this happening...?
whattabout geoguesser :^(
Regarding the Elon Musk thing: The main thing people have against him (from what I've heard) is the anti-union/anti-workers rights thing that NL mentioned. All that other stuff (not liking Futurama and w/e) if course doesn't matter, but the way he treats workers is actually really shitty. I still the actual work he's doing and he's obviously very smart, but I do wish that he wouldnä't go full on cold blooded capitalist at all times.
To be fair he's gotten himself this far by being a cold blooded capitalist. Honestly he's the type of capitalist I aspire to be.
Why can’t the Jedi just always use the force? A lot of fights could have been ended, but they just keep using their lightsabers.
The Crooked Penny using the force leaves you undefended so they can just slice you up
I feel like you guys try too hard not to offend people and it detracts from your streams and the entertainment/comedy of them
why you triggered about it
Common Profligate its amazing you didn't mention nick first, he's practically a sjw. Thanks God for Rob crossing the line occasionally.
Rexels Tom Yeah Robert sometimes gets it right but he is still 50% there only
They don't want to lose viewers and stuff.
LET'S GO
40:57 lmao I wonder how much Rob regrets saying all this shit.
end of quiplash NL is talking about cutting a pizza. he says that his first cut is always 40/60. how do you get a 40/60 cut on a CIRCLE!!!
Have you seen him play video games? Dude is blind as hell, he needs to get his eyes rechecked and get new glasses.
