Last night before I went to sleep and after prayers, I asked my dad to come see me in my dream because I've been missing him a lot lately. I said "you're my daddy and I love you, please come see me". (BTW I never called him daddy when he was here). So I dreamt that I was walking somewhere and all of a sudden there was my dad coming towards me, happy and smiling. We hugged so tightly and I said "Hi dad! Daddy! You're my daddy!" And he said "Yes, I'm daddy!" And he kissed my hair on top of my head. He was young, had black hair, so handsome and at Peace. I'm just so amazed.🙏🥲

I loved the part about initially there was no distinction between faith and love with the first people. The prophecy over time was we would slowly separate the two. Then restore them with/through Jesus in our lives.

I've always loved this story. What our lives should be about or the spirit of Christmas. Having charity for others, caring and loving beyond our egos. Always a deeper meaning and message in every passage in the bible. And it's a beautiful thing! I'm finding it hard with the latter of taking action with everything I went through after my mom passed. Never felt so struggled to move to action like I feel at present. I've always moved to action with no issues. But find myself struggling to take an active action to get what I need to do. And that is having to deal with my mom's things. I'm not attached to them, just feel burdened to have to be the one to do it once again. To the point that it can depress and overwhelm me. I would love to be able to know when my Angel is helping me so that I can be more receptive. I'll have to see your other show you recommended. I do feel that my Angel has saved me from certain death many times. There are just too many 'coincidences' (at least I think so) where at the precise moment before a potential lethal event, an inner voice said 'Look behind you', or 'Look ahead of you' or similar phrase. I was saved from falling through an open skylight on a house I was building; saved from a head on collision with a semi tractor trailer; saved from being hit by a train in an unprotected crossing where the railroad workers failed to watch for train traffic and many other occurrences. But what I don't recollect is when my Angel has persuaded to make the right decision or a more loving and compassionate one. I would like to know that. I feel now that I am on the right path becoming more aware, conscious, loving and compassionate, but the old inner human traits keep getting in the way. Sorry so long winded!

The relationship of spiritual world to the natural world. but I’m still puzzled about the part of connecting to angels. Apparently, it was easy for the most ancient church, but not for us. @@julianbristow4793 yes, that's true. We don't have the same instant connection we once did. But I think our job is to look for signs in other ways - for example, sometimes I get a small response after I ask a question during prayer or meditation. It feels like my own thought, and yet I know, or believe, it came from something higher than me! Once I crashed my car onto train tracks, and a man stopped and helped me move it off the tracks before a train arrived! He came out of no where, barely spoke a word - sometimes I wonder if he was a very nice human or an angel? And other times, I feel hopeless and one of my dogs comes to comfort me, or I notice a beautiful bird outside, or a ray of sunlight peeking out from a cloud, and I know it's the Lord or an angel reminding me (and all of us) that there is good in the world and things will be okay. Or sometimes it's the kindness of another person that we benefit from - an unexpected mercy, or act of kindness, or even another driver helping you merge. To me, those are all signs of love and communication from the other world through us! I have been searching for this particular quote for 20 minutes and must move on, so I'm going to paraphrase - Swedenborg wrote that since God cannot communicate with us directly, he does so through each other. So every time we are kind and loving to each other, that is the Lord's love reaching out to us. It feels like it's many levels away from God, but in fact, that's God's love in action - the result of angelic intervention and the Lord's love! We experience it all the time when we are kind and loving, and when others are kind and loving to us. So I would venture a guess that you speak to angels and spirits CONSTANTLY - but not necessarily in language, not in a visible way, not always in an obvious way. I think they communicate to us in many ways that we don't always recognize as such, and yet once we look back, there they were! So those are some thoughts, how does that resonate with you, Julian?

I'm not Curtis, just a member of the Community Response Team, but he has said on one of his live Q&A shows that he has not had an experience that he would describe as a real encounter with an angel, or a transformative spiritual experience. That said, he has had some dreams where departed loved ones show up in meaningful ways. And he believes that we are ALWAYS surrounded by angels, and that every feeling of love and every moment of good and positive thoughts or feelings are evidence of the presence of angels!

Such an important question, Susan. One that most of us wrestle with many times over the course of our lives. When we experience hardship it makes an inroad to understanding someone else's pain. Without it, our ability to feel compassion is pretty shallow. I remember one time I hurt my back. Suddenly all the friends I had who had told me they had back troubles came flooding back, and I sent them compassion, retroactively. Many years ago I was annoyed at handicapped parking spaces. Why do they get that kind of priority? I am in a hurry too. Then I had a child with disabilities, and felt a surge of compassion for the people for whom a closer space makes a big difference. The deeper truth is that this is why Jesus came to earth, to experience suffering too. Now I know that it is not from the safety of a heavenly throne that he wishes me well in my floundering life. Is there anything in Swedenborg about constantly learning in order to stay in the spirit? It seems like if you feel like you have ultimate truth locked down it blocks you from it. But if we have the attitude of constantly learning it opens us up - to let God in.
Well, Aa A, Swedenborg says we keep learning and growing to eternity, so I guess that covers it! He says that the angels admit that what they know is like a tiny drop in the bucket compared to what they don't know. I think it's so true that if we "stay curious," it opens us up to learn something new about what we thought we already knew!

Swedenborg says that a prayer can be answered in the form of a kind of inner joy or peace. And any good, loving, true thoughts and feelings we have are flowing into us through angels, says Swedenborg. Not to mention the many, many people in this world that are essentially channeling the goodness of God and the angels every day!

Hi SK -- Thanks for the love! Yes, we're sorry about the ad thing, and no, it's not just in Australia! UA-cam has been recommending our videos less and less over the last couple of years, so whereas before we would quickly get up to 4,000-8,000 views, now the videos have been spreading much more slowly, getting fewer views, reaching fewer viewers. We've been trying all sorts of strategies of keywords in the titles and descriptions, studying effective thumbnails, etc, but we think one of the reasons is that we have not been monetizing the videos -- that is, allowing ads so that UA-cam (not us) makes money. So, we are needing to experiment to see if allowing the ads causes the UA-cam systems to recommend our videos more frequently, allowing them to reach more people. Becoming a member or subscriber of OTLE doesn't stop the ads, but I'm not sure if the premium YT service would. If you decide to go that route, let us know! Does Swedenborg say why some people that are prayed over recover and live and others that are prayed over pass away ……. When my sister was 2 we all had the flu but she was so sick she went into a coma and the Dr said we medically have done every thing now it’s up to God ……. They said a prayer and my sister spit the tubs out of her mouth and cried ……. She was home by Christmas…….. but why do some die even with prayers ……. Do we choose how long we want to stay on earth and when we want go back home and when our mission here is not over we stay 🤷♀️ what are your feelings on this ?
Vickie these are precious and heartbreaking questions. I am glad that your sister was made well! The timing of our passing is not a small consideration. God orchestrates our death with as much love and wisdom as he does each day of our lives... to eternity. It is not because he was busy, or forgot about us, or we didn't pray enough. One thing that sometimes happens in Near Death Experiences is that people are told this is not your time to go, there is more to be done on earth. Sometimes this is not what the person wants to hear, as a taste of heaven is irresistible. Praying does many things, for the person praying, for the person being prayed for. It can open us up to God's leading in powerful ways, and yet our prayers do not always come true. Here is what Jesus said before he was crucified. “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26. I always considered these events as metaphors... arnt they? what about the other saviors/masters? Buddha, etc... does the swedenborgian theology believe jesus is the only way to heaven? and do you believe we are all the savior? we are all the son of God- not just jesus. (as I do, from studying ACIM).
We believe in one God, the same Divine Being for all people, everywhere (across the universe in fact!). There are prophets and teachers all over the world, who reach different people through different scriptures, ideas, and religions, but they all are teaching about the same Divine Being, no matter what name we give to God (see this short clip: "What Does God's Name Really Mean?" ua-cam.com/video/R1UvjU0AdoI/v-deo.html for more on that). Swedenborg wrote, “People born outside the church [in other words, non-Christians] are just as human as people born within it. They come from the same heavenly source. They are equally living and immortal souls. They have religions as well, religions that enable them to believe that God exists and that they should lead good lives; and all of them who do believe in God and lead good lives become spiritual on their own level and are saved” ("Divine Providence," §330:5c). *I added the words in brackets! ^ God loves all humans, and works to connect with all of us in whatever way we can be reached! Swedenborg (1689-1772) was raised in the Lutheran church, and in fact his father was a Lutheran bishop. So he was steeped in Christian doctrine, and familiar with that worldview. He was a Bible scholar and read it devoutly, and so his teachings and his understanding stem from that perspective, but he was ahead of his time in recognizing that salvation is not a limited offering - that conflicts with the idea of an infinite, loving God. Why was Jesus so important and why was it so necessary for him to die in this manner? Aside from the usual "he died for our sins/ to save humanity" because that contradicts basic logic besides the simple fact that none of it affected much at all because doctrine won in the end and it didn't make people necessarily better for the most part.

@@mickiemontoya8953 at first I thought it was a bright star, but it was in an odd place very low in the southern sky. So I kept staring at it wondering could it be an airplane or helicopter? I quickly ruled that out because it was close enough that I could have heard if it were either of those. This was just after 2am on a Tuesday night, so it was very quiet outside. I kept staring at it and it began to get brighter, and as it got brighter, rays began to form around it. The ray on the top right was sticking out further, that's when I started to see something taking shape. The elongated ray looked like a sword. It was so far away (yet so close) that it was like my mind was completing the image of it. This went on for several minutes, me just watching it get brighter. I could have easily passed it off as my imagination... until the "sword" appeared to slash forward diagonally, and where it struck it produced SPARKS! When I saw those sparks I knew it was real, honest to God it looked like a small, albeit silent, firework going off. I drew a rough sketch when I went inside of what I'd seen. A couple weeks later I was in an old friend's house who passed away in January this year, and I found a deck of ascended master cards I'd given him. I picked up the top card, turned it over, and the design on the back of the cards looks like the rough sketch I made after what I saw. And the design on the backs of the cards is Archangel Michael, the major general of God's army. I figure we have a huge battle ahead.
We are told in the Bible to test the spirits. You may think you’re being guided by angles but it’s most likely fallen angels. What you’re saying is is partly true but partly wrong.
Here's part of 1 John:4 -- "“Dear Friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God." Swedenborg passes that test with flying colors! But everyone is free to accept or decline the ideas he offers. If ideas lead to goodness, usefulness, hope, love, kindness to others, and trust in God, it doesn't seem that it would be fallen angels inspiring them. We wish you well, Morgan, on your chosen spiritual path.
You're right, Narayan -- no mention of Christmas in the Bible. Several pagan festivals were usurped by early Christians, to fit their own celebrations. But it can be valuable to have a yearly reminder to allow Jesus -- God Incarnate -- to be born in our hearts. If we could all make room for that tender birth, the world could be a different place!
Yes, Morgan -- Like most Christian holidays, Christmas was sort of pasted on top of already existing celebrations. But it's all about what's in your heart. Christmas isn't pagan if you are celebrating the birth of Christ in your heart.
Last night before I went to sleep and after prayers, I asked my dad to come see me in my dream because I've been missing him a lot lately. I said "you're my daddy and I love you, please come see me". (BTW I never called him daddy when he was here). So I dreamt that I was walking somewhere and all of a sudden there was my dad coming towards me, happy and smiling. We hugged so tightly and I said "Hi dad! Daddy! You're my daddy!" And he said "Yes, I'm daddy!" And he kissed my hair on top of my head. He was young, had black hair, so handsome and at Peace. I'm just so amazed.🙏🥲

I've always loved this story. What our lives should be about or the spirit of Christmas. Having charity for others, caring and loving beyond our egos. Always a deeper meaning and message in every passage in the bible. And it's a beautiful thing! I'm finding it hard with the latter of taking action with everything I went through after my mom passed. Never felt so struggled to move to action like I feel at present. I've always moved to action with no issues. But find myself struggling to take an active action to get what I need to do. And that is having to deal with my mom's things. I'm not attached to them, just feel burdened to have to be the one to do it once again. To the point that it can depress and overwhelm me. I would love to be able to know when my Angel is helping me so that I can be more receptive. I'll have to see your other show you recommended. I do feel that my Angel has saved me from certain death many times. There are just too many 'coincidences' (at least I think so) where at the precise moment before a potential lethal event, an inner voice said 'Look behind you', or 'Look ahead of you' or similar phrase. I was saved from falling through an open skylight on a house I was building; saved from a head on collision with a semi tractor trailer; saved from being hit by a train in an unprotected crossing where the railroad workers failed to watch for train traffic and many other occurrences. But what I don't recollect is when my Angel has persuaded to make the right decision or a more loving and compassionate one. I would like to know that. I feel now that I am on the right path becoming more aware, conscious, loving and compassionate, but the old inner human traits keep getting in the way. Sorry so long winded!
I've had life-saving perceptions too Mach, but you listened and acted which is what it takes to live, goodwill is all you need to become more conscious and receptive to heavens perceptions IMO

The relationship of spiritual world to the natural world. but I’m still puzzled about the part of connecting to angels. Apparently, it was easy for the most ancient church, but not for us. We seem to have lost that connection. Maybe that is why I’m having difficulty? ❤️🙂
@@julianbristow4793 yes, that's true. We don't have the same instant connection we once did. But I think our job is to look for signs in other ways - for example, sometimes I get a small response after I ask a question during prayer or meditation. It feels like my own thought, and yet I know, or believe, it came from something higher than me!
Once I crashed my car onto train tracks, and a man stopped and helped me move it off the tracks before a train arrived! He came out of no where, barely spoke a word - sometimes I wonder if he was a very nice human or an angel?
And other times, I feel hopeless and one of my dogs comes to comfort me, or I notice a beautiful bird outside, or a ray of sunlight peeking out from a cloud, and I know it's the Lord or an angel reminding me (and all of us) that there is good in the world and things will be okay.
Or sometimes it's the kindness of another person that we benefit from - an unexpected mercy, or act of kindness, or even another driver helping you merge. To me, those are all signs of love and communication from the other world through us!
I have been searching for this particular quote for 20 minutes and must move on, so I'm going to paraphrase - Swedenborg wrote that since God cannot communicate with us directly, he does so through each other. So every time we are kind and loving to each other, that is the Lord's love reaching out to us. It feels like it's many levels away from God, but in fact, that's God's love in action - the result of angelic intervention and the Lord's love! We experience it all the time when we are kind and loving, and when others are kind and loving to us.
So I would venture a guess that you speak to angels and spirits CONSTANTLY - but not necessarily in language, not in a visible way, not always in an obvious way. I think they communicate to us in many ways that we don't always recognize as such, and yet once we look back, there they were! So those are some thoughts, how does that resonate with you, Julian?

Thanks for your question, Jordan. I'm not Curtis, just a member of the Community Response Team, but he has said on one of his live Q&A shows that he has not had an experience that he would describe as a real encounter with an angel, or a transformative spiritual experience. That said, he has had some dreams where departed loved ones show up in meaningful ways. And he believes that we are ALWAYS surrounded by angels, and that every feeling of love and every moment of good and positive thoughts or feelings are evidence of the presence of angels!
He is a Professor of comparative religions @ The Uni of California ( Bakersfield ) . There are some interviews with the 77 yr old on www.youtube.com.

Such an important question, Susan. One that most of us wrestle with many times over the course of our lives. Here is a video called Why Bad Things Happen that might speak to this.

I would venture to say that the reason is compassion. When we experience hardship it makes an inroad to understanding someone else's pain. Without it, our ability to feel compassion is pretty shallow. I remember one time I hurt my back. Suddenly all the friends I had who had told me they had back troubles came flooding back, and I sent them compassion, retroactively. Many years ago I was annoyed at handicapped parking spaces. Why do they get that kind of priority? I am in a hurry too. Then I had a child with disabilities, and felt a surge of compassion for the people for whom a closer space makes a big difference.
The deeper truth is that this is why Jesus came to earth, to experience suffering too. Now I know that it is not from the safety of a heavenly throne that he wishes me well in my floundering life.

Is there anything in Swedenborg about constantly learning in order to stay in the spirit? It seems like if you feel like you have ultimate truth locked down it blocks you from it. But if we have the attitude of constantly learning it opens us up - to let God in.
Well, Aa A, Swedenborg says we keep learning and growing to eternity, so I guess that covers it! He says that the angels admit that what they know is like a tiny drop in the bucket compared to what they don't know. I think it's so true that if we "stay curious," it opens us up to learn something new about what we thought we already knew!

Chara here, one of the moderators. I'm sure I have, but I have not been conscious of angels being present, necessarily. Swedenborg says that a prayer can be answered in the form of a kind of inner joy or peace. And any good, loving, true thoughts and feelings we have are flowing into us through angels, says Swedenborg. Not to mention the many, many people in this world that are essentially channeling the goodness of God and the angels every day!

Hi SK -- Thanks for the love! Yes, we're sorry about the ad thing, and no, it's not just in Australia! UA-cam has been recommending our videos less and less over the last couple of years, so whereas before we would quickly get up to 4,000-8,000 views, now the videos have been spreading much more slowly, getting fewer views, reaching fewer viewers. We've been trying all sorts of strategies of keywords in the titles and descriptions, studying effective thumbnails, etc, but we think one of the reasons is that we have not been monetizing the videos -- that is, allowing ads so that UA-cam (not us) makes money. So, we are needing to experiment to see if allowing the ads causes the UA-cam systems to recommend our videos more frequently, allowing them to reach more people.
Becoming a member or subscriber of OTLE doesn't stop the ads, but I'm not sure if the premium YT service would. If you decide to go that route, let us know! Thanks for reaching out, and blessings to you!

Does Swedenborg say why some people that are prayed over recover and live and others that are prayed over pass away ……. When my sister was 2 we all had the flu but she was so sick she went into a coma and the Dr said we medically have done every thing now it’s up to God ……. They said a prayer and my sister spit the tubs out of her mouth and cried ……. She was home by Christmas…….. but why do some die even with prayers ……. Do we choose how long we want to stay on earth and when we want go back home and when our mission here is not over we stay 🤷♀️ what are your feelings on this ?

The timing of our passing is not a small consideration. God orchestrates our death with as much love and wisdom as he does each day of our lives... to eternity. It is not because he was busy, or forgot about us, or we didn't pray enough. One thing that sometimes happens in Near Death Experiences is that people are told this is not your time to go, there is more to be done on earth. Sometimes this is not what the person wants to hear, as a taste of heaven is irresistible.
Praying does many things, for the person praying, for the person being prayed for. It can open us up to God's leading in powerful ways, and yet our prayers do not always come true. Here is what Jesus said before he was crucified.
“O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26.

I always considered these events as metaphors... arnt they? what about the other saviors/masters? Buddha, etc... does the swedenborgian theology believe jesus is the only way to heaven? and do you believe we are all the savior? we are all the son of God- not just jesus. (as I do, from studying ACIM).
We believe in one God, the same Divine Being for all people, everywhere (across the universe in fact!). There are prophets and teachers all over the world, who reach different people through different scriptures, ideas, and religions, but they all are teaching about the same Divine Being, no matter what name we give to God (see this short clip: "What Does God's Name Really Mean?" ua-cam.com/video/R1UvjU0AdoI/v-deo.html for more on that).
Swedenborg wrote, “People born outside the church [in other words, non-Christians] are just as human as people born within it. They come from the same heavenly source. They are equally living and immortal souls. They have religions as well, religions that enable them to believe that God exists and that they should lead good lives; and all of them who do believe in God and lead good lives become spiritual on their own level and are saved” ("Divine Providence," §330:5c).

God loves all humans, and works to connect with all of us in whatever way we can be reached! Swedenborg (1689-1772) was raised in the Lutheran church, and in fact his father was a Lutheran bishop. So he was steeped in Christian doctrine, and familiar with that worldview. He was a Bible scholar and read it devoutly, and so his teachings and his understanding stem from that perspective, but he was ahead of his time in recognizing that salvation is not a limited offering - that conflicts with the idea of an infinite, loving God.

Why was Jesus so important and why was it so necessary for him to die in this manner? Aside from the usual "he died for our sins/ to save humanity" because that contradicts basic logic besides the simple fact that none of it affected much at all because doctrine won in the end and it didn't make people necessarily better for the most part.
Swedenborg learned that Jesus's mission was actually to clean up the *spiritual* world, as the influence of hell was getting too strong and impinging on the spiritual freedom of humanity. Wild and different idea! And there other reasons, too. Maybe this show will give you some more food for thought about it:

@@mickiemontoya8953 at first I thought it was a bright star, but it was in an odd place very low in the southern sky. So I kept staring at it wondering could it be an airplane or helicopter? I quickly ruled that out because it was close enough that I could have heard if it were either of those. This was just after 2am on a Tuesday night, so it was very quiet outside. I kept staring at it and it began to get brighter, and as it got brighter, rays began to form around it. The ray on the top right was sticking out further, that's when I started to see something taking shape. The elongated ray looked like a sword. It was so far away (yet so close) that it was like my mind was completing the image of it. This went on for several minutes, me just watching it get brighter. I could have easily passed it off as my imagination... until the "sword" appeared to slash forward diagonally, and where it struck it produced SPARKS! When I saw those sparks I knew it was real, honest to God it looked like a small, albeit silent, firework going off. I drew a rough sketch when I went inside of what I'd seen. A couple weeks later I was in an old friend's house who passed away in January this year, and I found a deck of ascended master cards I'd given him. I picked up the top card, turned it over, and the design on the back of the cards looks like the rough sketch I made after what I saw. And the design on the backs of the cards is Archangel Michael, the major general of God's army. I figure we have a huge battle ahead.
We are told in the Bible to test the spirits. You may think you’re being guided by angles but it’s most likely fallen angels. What you’re saying is is partly true but partly wrong.
Here's part of 1 John:4 -- "“Dear Friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God."
Swedenborg passes that test with flying colors! But everyone is free to accept or decline the ideas he offers. If ideas lead to goodness, usefulness, hope, love, kindness to others, and trust in God, it doesn't seem that it would be fallen angels inspiring them.

You're right, Narayan -- no mention of Christmas in the Bible. Several pagan festivals were usurped by early Christians, to fit their own celebrations. But it can be valuable to have a yearly reminder to allow Jesus -- God Incarnate -- to be born in our hearts. If we could all make room for that tender birth, the world could be a different place!
