- Discover this beautiful replica of a Nieuport 23 C-1 built according to the original plans, equipped with a magnificent and very rare rotary engine from the era of the pioneers of aviation.
Seen during the 90th anniversary of Grenchen airport in September 2021, this stunning fighter is piloted by Isidor von Arx.
Note the difficulty of managing the rolling on the ground of this machine equipped with a wooden skid and no brake at all.

Feel free to like and comment my video ! 👍
Merci les amis suisses de faire voler ce magnifique avion ! Les chasseurs Nieuport sont de merveilleux petits avions de chasse, ils ont permis la supériorité aérienne au-dessus de Verdun ! Thank you Swizerland for keeping flying this gorgeous Nieuport ! The 11, 17, 23, what a great serie of fighters ! The pilot is great, this Nieuport is like a toy in his hands, a 110 years old toy...
Always wonderful to see aviation history on display. Beautiful little aircraft, beautifully flown!
Indeed very nice plane/pilot team!
Wunderschön und vielen Dank, Erinnerung an diesen Tag

Excellent camera work. The pilot is also outstanding.
Thanks ! 👍 Yes, he is unlimited aerobatics pilot so he has a little flying experience... 😂
It would be a bear to fly as the overall means of control; the motor has no current equivalent. Thanks@@chaviationvideos2602
Still hard to believe that switching the mag on and off is the throttle. 🤯 The pilot did a perfect text book flight! 👍😎👍🛩
Indeed it must be something special to fly this plane
Wonderful! Thanks for uploading this.

sehr schöner Clip! Danke!!
Thank you !
Notice the prop and cylinders turning. It all turned around the crankshaft that was stationary. The torque and centrifugal forces are immense.
The reason you hear the engine gunning up and down in taxi is because there is no throttle. Just turning the ignition on and off full fuel.
Thank you for your comment I appreciate it!
Yep, all of we nerds know that! No need to explain, dude.
Thank you so much for this clip, love your camera work!! Cheers Isi
You're welcome ! I hope to meet you soon at a meeting or an aerobatics competition, who knows 😀 Best regards!
Terrible landing, should have kept the stick forward until tail was ready to unload.
If I understand correctly what you are suggesting is a wheel landing ?
There's always some know-it-all with some worthless comment. How many times have YOU actually landed a Nieuport 23?
@@giovannimorrisone483 Yes unfortunately there will always be people who think they know everything better than others. Piloting tailwheel planes myself, I can assure you that this landing is close to perfection: 3-point attitude and stalls a few centimeters above the ground, you can't do better. 👍
Hi, I'm the pilot. Come and try! :-)
@@isitheaviator You flew fantastic! In WWI they lost more pilots in training than combat. A wheel landing would have put the propeller tips very close to the ground and these planes tend to nose over. Besides, there isn't enough rudder authority on these old planes at slow speed. Keeping the tail in the air could result in a ground loop.
