- Did you know as the Sun moves across the sky, it also rotates?
However, this rotation is caused by our view of the Sun from a revolving planet.
This short video demonstrates the rotation of the Sun as seen from Earth over 8 hours.

The Sun is actually white in real life ⚪
Surely it's the earth that moves and not the sun. Your eyes deceive you.
Thanks for your interest. The video does say the sun 'appears' to rotate and I do say in the description it's caused by earth's rotation. Cheers
No I don't think so. The Earth orbits the sun once a year so our view of the surface of the sun ought to be fairly static. The sun actually rotates on it's axis once every 24.5 days so an 8 hour view will show 5% of rotation. The video above is about 30% of rotation which is 48 hours, not 8 per the OP.
Edit: it's worth noting too that the view of the sun from the Earth is side on, not at the poles as this video shows. I think this was captured by the NASA Ulysses mission
At end of April I am releasing a video showing sunspot activity for the month. In the daily photos, the sun's rotation is seen by the changing position of sunspots
Yes, it's the Earth that moves, and don't call me Shirley.
All stars rotate!
