      It’s a solid question though. These videos aren’t for researching vacation spots. In the US you can get charges for your city, county, state, and federal. Considering Canada is a different country, it makes sense to understand their different levels of legal shit too. I think that’s where he was going when he asked what the cities were called. Like how we have felonies and misdemeanors and they don’t.
      I know the question was a dud but it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t an appropriate one regarding its context.

      We have no City prison, only holding facilities. In Canada, we have a 2 tier correctional system. Provincial, which have a sentence of less then 2yrs, and sentencing over 2 yrs is served Federally. I served time in Federal Penitentiary in Cowansville in the Biker war era of the 90's between Hell's and Rock Machine. Time Provincially is actual harder time then Federal. Provincial is a parking, Federal facilities in Canada don't compare to U.S. Each cell in the Pen up here is allowed a TV with cable and much more. Served time with some U.S citizen serving time up here, and they all said Canadian Penitentiary are nothing like you guys.

    In Canada, Felony = Indictable offence, Misdemeanor = Summary conviction offense. There are also many so-called "hybrid offenses" in which the prosecutor decides whether to proceed via indictment or summary conviction, depending on the circumstances of the case and offender. If you end up being sentenced for 2 years or more on your indictable offense(s), you go into the federal prison system. That's why judges will often sentence someone to two years less a day.

Kitchen is the best job. My gig in there was selling these little origami boxes to the natives and they used them to put moccasins in them and sell them on the street. I did a couple brews, but I got out and never went back. You should do more canadian content. We got stories... and some haunted prisons up here. It would boost your channel. The counties/municipality thing is indeed tricky in Canada because it depends on the province and it's different in every province/territory in Canada. As a rule of thumb, counties in Canada don't run local prisons/jails and outside lockup in police stations, it's usually the province/territory which runs jails. Ontario has a dozen of mega-cities or municipalities which are as big as a county in the US. Québec has municipalities and Regional County Municipalities in some areas. For example, my city (Ottawa) is huge in size having both urban areas and some rural areas. It's as big as a county in the US but it doesn't have any other level of local government unlike most places in the US.
    For cops it's even more complicated, most big cities in Canada have their own police department and sometimes the police force is regional. Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland have their own provincial police force patrolling highways, towns and rural areas and other provinces have the RCMP doing the policing in small cities/urban areas. Interestingly, the RCMP also does the job of the FBI in the US.

    • @vovin8132
      @vovin8132 7 місяців тому

      Well, all it is is a level of government between municipal and province. In Ontario, they call them counties, and here in BC, they are regional districts. They don't have anything to do with the law aside from bylaws, at least here in BC.

Other crimes were called misdemeanors.
