I was 9 months old in December, 1955. Mom had just purchased the very same Brownie outfit, mostly to document ME! She used it for years and years, all three of us, Verichrome pan because it cost less. Yup. I bought one almost new in the yellow box. Just. Like. Mom's.
This is a coincidence! I have the same model Brownie Hawkeye that also had a half used roll of film in it. I shot off what was left and developed it. Any existing shots didn’t survive, but the ones I shot sort of came out. But the best undeveloped old film experience I’ve had was with a thrift store camera that had shots from the 1965 worlds fair. There were several shots of that iconic globe fountain and the people in the shots were clearly dressed from the mid-1960s.
I bought a digital camera from an estate sale once and the SD card that was left in the camera was filled with pictures of mutilated cats. I returned the SD card and told the kids it had family pictures on it and that it should be kept with the family. They were very grateful.
I found a digital camera with sd card in a triftshop and witnessed a complete birth of someone's child including everything you don't want to see still no idee who it belongs to
Great video. I'll have to check that BBQ place out on my next drive up 25. Looks like some great photo ops there too. Pretty amazing the film that old could still capture images.

I came across a junior six-16 series II at an antique shop recently and loaded into the fresh side was a role of verichrome that seems to have been exposed, but the seal was torn off. Confusing circumstances to me. I'm pretty excited to get it developed and see if there are any viewable images.
You got some great photo from that film, almost a double exposure effect. I have the same boxed set but mine didn't come with film in it, but, I've been buying a few 6-10 megapixel old digital cameras lately and got one with some family photos still in its memory.

Very nice video! I'm a huge fan of Verichrome Pan and shoot it whenever I get my hands on a roll or two. One thing to note, Verichrome Pan was first introduced in 1956 (the "Pan" version being a panchromatic update to the venerable "Verichrome" film), so if your roll was indeed originally sold with a camera that was made in late 1955, this is likely some of the very first Verichrome Pan produced!
I'm not so certain the film he found in the camera was the actual film that came in the kit when the camera was new; the older Verichrome Pan films used a different tan-colored paper backing strip before switching to the familiar red and yellow colors which they used right up to the end of production. I don't know when the changeover happened but I tend to think it was about 1960 or so. But its equally possible the film he found in the camera could have been manufactured and loaded in, say 1970 or 1980 or whatever (Verichrome Pan was the "go to" film for simple box cameras like this one because it gave good results with the slow shutters of those cameras). With that said, however, Verichrome Pan was an extremely durable and long-lasting film and I can't resist buying old exposed rolls of it and developing it just to see what is on it. I almost always get some results from it and often they are quite nice.
A few years ago I purchased a mid 50s Agfa Isolette Camera from a vintage camera seller. It had a roll of exposed Kodak film in it. Had it developed and there was one image in it along with what looked like multiple exposures on another frame. I am a Mason and the photo was of a group of men setting up a Masonic Lodge. I know it was from the 50s due to the way they were dressed.
got a similar deal myself at an estate sale a few weeks back(hawkeye + flash, roll of verichrome) although my roll was completely sealed and unexposed, been incredibly sparing with shooting it lol
Yes it is. Good eye! I sold all my photography stuff in 1990. This tank and reel was sent to me by a great old friend a year or two ago. I would guess this is vintage early 1970’s. I’m thinking of getting a stainless steel tank to take on the road when we transition to full time RV living. Is is crazy to think about developing film in an Airstream?

@@VintageInsightPhotography Photo finishing in a trailer has been a thing. I saw it in the darkroom chapter of "Graphic Graflex Photography", and there are several other floor plans too. That featured "traveling darkroom" was designed by William G. Houch. From what I can find, it was originally published in U.S. Camera Magazine, No 6, 1939 but I've never seen inside one. It seems a bit pricey---perhaps due to the cover art.
The most amazing thing is that someone would pull a big airstream like that with a Rambler. 😁😇 Do you know what the speed rating of the old Verichrome was?
While a Cadillac had a top speed of 120, Verichrome pan was 125. Now, we're doing a hundred and twenty As fast as I could go The Rambler pulled alongside of me As if we were going slow The fellow rolled down his window And yelled for me to hear "Hey, Buddy, how can I get this car Out of second gear!" I just purchased a kodak brownie 2a model c with a unused roll of this in it, the glue on the sticker to keep it up undid. Do you think it's still ok, or would it be a waste to even try it. It's still rolled up but 🤷♂️ idk
