    It would have been helpful if you had compared the physical size to the old G3 flex. Are they the same? I'll rearrange some cameras soon and I came to this video to try and figure out if I needed to replace the mounting where I want to switch a G3 to a G5

      Hi, That is a very good point and sorry I did not cover that, I had just made an assumption. The G3 Flex, G5 Flex, FlexHD, and U6-Mesh are all essentially the same size and can use pretty much the same fittings as it other. They all have a diameter of 48mm and are around 107-109mm tall. So yes the G5 Flex will fit in the G3 ceiling mount etc. I hope this helps.

    Hi, can this camera be wall mounted - so it sticks out horizontally with the "camera ball" pointing downwards? I'm looking for a discreet camera for the front of my house, and the smaller size of this camera looks like it will do the job.

      Good question. The basic bottom plate for the unit has holes in it, so you can certainly fix the baseplate to the wall and then push the device on to it horizontally. You will just need to make sure that the lens will then tilt enough to allow you to cpature what you need, but certainly should be possible.

    Just trying to get some clarification if the G5 Flex has smart detection or not please?

    • @The_Tech_Geeks
      @The_Tech_Geeks  Рік тому

      Good question. It supports motion detection and also person / vehicle just like the G4 range.

    I want to hang the camera upside-down, but I don't want to make a hole large enough for the optional recessed ceiling mount. Is it possible to fasten it securely in that orientation using the included components?

      Good question. Guess in the desk mounting bracket you can run a screw through to fasten. I can't remember off the top of my head if there is already a hole in it, but you can make one if needed. I hope this helps.

      @@The_Tech_Geeks Thank you. I ordered one today. I want to mount this to the soffit above our front door. I would prefer to have a UniFi doorbell camera, but I don't think I would be able to fish an ethernet cable through in place of the existing doorbell wire.

    I was going to build a fake bird house and mount my G3 pro inside it , but after continually removing spider webs on my G4 pros on my house , I’m rethinking this.
    I see that the G3 and G5 flex can be mounted on the tip of a pipe, so I may just install a pipe at the corner of my property line in the front of my yard , and have the flex camera mounted on top of the pipe ,as I doubt anyone would even notice it .
    I’m doing this because I cannot get licence plates on the street with the G4 pros mounted on each end of my house . The IR is also an issue, as it just lights up the license plates and all you see is a white out where the plate is.
    So my idea was to have the flex mounted much closer to the street , and leave the IR’s off . License plates are typically lit up with the vehicles lighting , so at night I believe I should be able to read them , well I’m hoping .
    I noticed the G3 flex has a narrower field of view, which is what I want , and unfortunately the newer G5 flex went a little wider . I was going to purchase the G3 flex because of this, but I found a video on UA-cam that showed a comparison,and the G5 flex certainly looked sharper at night .
    Any recommendations?

      Ok I didn’t realize the G5 has the better sensor, so it looks as though I’ll go with it. Now hopefully it can be exposed to the elements when it’s secured to the end of a pipe
