  • Since its very beginning in 2001, the irish music series 'Other Voices' has brought international musicians to the small town Dingle on Ireland's atlantic coast. Every winter it is held in the old Saint James Church, which has a capacity of roundabout 100 people. For the sixth edition of the series, Amy Winehouse was invited to play on a stormy sunday night on December 3rd 2006. Due to the weather, a number of flights were cancelled around that time, which forced Amy and her musicians to leave some of their bandmates back in England. Only accompanied by her guitarist Robin Banerjee and bass player Dale Davis, this short concert became one of her most intimate and brilliant sets.

A few years ago, when watching the entire concert, seeing her perform in such a small venue, I first realized that performing in front of a small audience is where she thrived. She seemed more natural and relaxed when she wasn't faced with massive crowds.

Absolutely! She was totally in her element during intimate and personal gigs like this one in front of 80-90 people..
