Just caught up with this story today, Alfie, and I was really sorry to hear it. I enjoyed your UA-cam videos and wish you well in whatever you choose to do in the future.
What I can't understand is if you have 20kBHT and the cost of a ticket to fly out why didn't you get a Visa??? And please don't say that's not enough as an agency would have got you a Visa for around 15k BHT. A tip for anyone thinking of coming here is to have loads of cash. If you're going to a tourist resort you will have to double whatever you think is loads.
Thanks for sharing, great information for those of us looking to head out to Thailand for an extended stay! Good luck on your new start in Jersey. At least you gave it a good go and no doubt had some great times!
Interesting post must be a common situation coming back broke from a long term stay in Pattaya but rarely talked about. Can i ask how are you intending on making a living now or do you still have a pension or other funds?
Hi, yes I was broke when I got home but as it's my place of residence I was able to quickly sort myself out with a job and things are looking good. Next mission is to find a live-a-board boat then I will be really happy. Cheers
thanks for sharing and your honesty, i can truly believe pattaya is no place to be without funds for fun, look forward to your future vloggs on boat life and adventures of maintaining and restoring it, best of luck.
Jesus Alfie mate , you really have landed on your knees haven't you. Don't worry mate , you're not the first and you certainly won't be the last. Chin up old boy and hang in there 👍🏼🍻🇦🇺🇹🇭
I understand your intention is to stay where you are, but I wondered if you had thought about Cambodia. Being 55 yrs of age is the only requirement for the retirement visa there. Dave Does Cambodia channel is a good go to for this info, and how to live cheaply in Siem Reap. All the best.
@@alfiedoespattaya ok mate. In case this is of interest, Dave is paying US$50 per month for his place. He shows it in his recent video 'How to travel in Cambodia!'. scroll to 09:00 on the video. God bless.
Thanks for the update Alfie. I was wondering what happened to you. Im sorry to hear that your time in Pattaya ended with a bad taste in the mouth. I am looking forward to seeing those videos on corruption.
Interesting take, may I ask if you had the money for a ticket and the 20,000 baht for the fine, which isn't much at all, why did you not simply get a extension in when you could ? Did you not know the rules? I mean situations arise but the extension process is not that difficult, literally 25mins of your day or you can even outsource it.
Hi, yes I did have the money a few days before I left, b. So my 90 days ended on the 30 of March. I then had the next 90 days to sort things out but I was never able to do and at the end of that 90 days that's when you get flagged up. Now, I know many have been saying I should have paid BUT when you don't have the funds at hand and it is not that easy to find the money. So it is what it is and to be honest, my time in Thailand had come to an end. Sadly I will not be seeing my friends anymore as I will not be going back not even for a holiday. Cheers
@@alfiedoespattaya Fair enough, life is an adventure, and your living on a boat will be your next one, never been to jersey, and I am sure your friends if they find themselves in that part of the world will see you again. onward and upwards.
Well I appreciate the honesty, but honestly you have been an idiot. The risk of overstay and falling out of sight is a serious and real one. The fine is not much more than you need to pay an agent for a one year retirement visa! You have been living with a noose over your head every day for a relatively small investment! I don't know what you expected of the embassy? You knowingly and willingly broke the system, not for a short time but for over a year! Honestly, I'm surprised they even came to see you. If you ever do try to re-enter Thailand, expect a lot of questions on entry and likely asking for proof of funds. You also have to remember entry is at the whim of the individual officer, if he/she thinks you are a risk of overstaying again, they will deny entry, this has happened to an acquaintance I know at BKK airport two months ago. It's a salutatory lesson, you can bend and play around the rules, but to break them there will be only a harsh outcome. Also, if you don't have the funds for long stay, go home! Sadly I don't think we will see you back in Thailand, I wish you luck and hope some lessons were learnt.
Exactly right..how can you enjoy your time with that risk over your head?..your allowed 2x90 day re-entries in any given year which are 3.5 k baht on organised runs..plus you can get a year visa for about 350 quid..through an agent ...or 15k for a year visa..youve got no chance of getting back in now...unless you win the lottery mate...very silly move imo..😢..you obviously went skint...so that was surely the time to leave the kingdom because you obviously know cash is the real king there.
Unless I've missed something, why didn't you just do visa runs? Cheap return flights or buses out then in, small visa fee, sorted! You could obviously afford food and accommodation for 15 months so you could afford these cheap visa runs, I don't get it? 🤔🤔
@@alfiedoespattaya That's what I'm saying, if you did visa runs every 3 months, you wouldn't have overstayed by 15 months. The 20,000b you paid for the fine would've covered 15 months of visa runs and you wouldn't have been banned. I'm from the UK living in Thailand and Vietnam so I know the system, that's why I am confused why you didn't just do same day visa runs from the start or even got an education visa to stay longer term! 🤔👍

Jersey don't seem a bad place to live. Sadly, I'm in England and I'd swap places in a heartbeat. 😁
have you got yer boat yet?
3 years will fly over alfie boy !! Save some cash up and go back 😊
Why didn't you just do the visa runs?
You should of got a Fighter visa like a Mui Thai

555. 15 months.
Jesus man. I know a guy will lose he's mind in this place but not to that point.
good luck fell take no notice of the haters
Don't go to Thailand if you have not got the funds to keep you . Your lucky you've not been banned for life with 15 months over stay.
You don't get a life ban for any length of over stay, the max is 10 years unless you commit murder.
Your wish is your COMMAND.

Once you are over 90 days you will get a ban for 1 year and then only you can come back into Thailand. I had 15 months so 3 year ban it was. Cheers
he was not able to get a retirement visa that costs 1900b, the border run is around 3000b

I just dont get why people break the law? really how old are you?
lol no clue why people think its ok to stay a visa.

No sympathy. You know the rules.
You broke them hence the ban.
Yes, I did and not asking for sympathy just saying what happens when you fuck up.
