Heh. This is actually a takedown. You drop while holding the opponent and hopefully headbutt them. Then the slapping and holding the head are headbutt and elbow attacks to an opponent wrestling with you. It's training how to root and make power without standing.
Thank you for this wonderful resource. I have seen kicking backwards like at 0:23 in a few Chinese styles. It has always confused me, as in other arts such as taekwondo that style of back kick is absent. Is the purpose of the movement truly a kick, or is it meant to generate more power in the fists here? When I do the movement, it is hard for me to tell how I should push my weight.
In this movement " rapid wind and strong grass" you are mainly generating force into your hands. After you grab the opponents arm in the move before. Then pulling them in you split the entire body hands to foot to hit them away.
@@neilripski thank you, and so quick to respond! I can definitely feel the difference focusing on the forward force there. I am following along with your compendium of drunken boxing on kindle. Do you have a full video of the first form too? I see some video tutorials for it on your channel but they end around the outside crescent kick (figure 15 in the book).
great content
So cool! I wonder what the applications of 0:48 might possibly be...I cannot fathom them. Anyway, beautiful form!

@@neilripski I could have never guessed! Very cool and funny how the application was disguised!
