I love the "new" TW channels i have been bumping into for the last couple of months: Happycompy,Inmersaholic,Gudea and you Terminator are true jewels. Hope you all keep growing
Great review thanks. I want to address a few issues. The Battle AI can't really be modded, and CA decided for Attila's setting to make it much more aggressive, we can't change that so it just is more suicidal than in Rome 2. It works well for some factions like barbarians, less well for others. Regarding the AI running its troops, we added a hidden fatigue buff to the AI to compensate for it, essentially they fatigue slower but it equalises out because they run everywhere. You mentioned small factions producing many armies, this is true but it depends on the difficulty setting you chose, we added a mode called "Decisive" where the AI has the same unit production capacity as the player, whereas the other modes are more of an onslaught, as some players like that. Still, it's important to remember that 3 stacks of shitty barbarian spearmen isn't much more unit upkeep or fighting power than one stack of roman or greek units, it's not all about raw army size. I think a lot of players forget that when they see large AI forces, but their legions or pikemen can actually hold out very well against those weaker stacks. Work is ongoing on the mod with bug fixes and liberatable factions coming back, but also an Alexander the Great campaign in the works, where you will be able to play as Alexander (Set up using the attila horde mechanics) rampaging through the Persian empire, or play as the Persian empire dealing with a maniac Alexander AI which will be built over the Attila Hun AI, so essentially you'll have to kill Alexander 3 times etc, imagine it like facing the huns as the western roman empire, except they're Macedonians with pike phalanxes... The units for this are already finished and will be available in custom battle in the next update.
Imagine if the Rise of Mordor suceeds in altering the map and then releases the tools so everyone can do so. This mod and 1212 will become absolute masterpieces
There's so much cool fan content for Attila(it's not on the level of Med 2, but still), even if we don't count the flagships like 1212,ROM and this mod the ammount of stuff left to cover is incredible: -Terminus, Tetrarchy, the Age of Justinian duology,The Long Night and 642 for the grand campaign. -Age of Majoran and Aetius for Last Roman. -Age of Vikings and Martell and the upcoming 1529 and 1051 for Age of Charlemagne.
I love how the have done a very good job with designing the special cities in history like Jerusalem, Tyre and a Few others they make it look like the actual city did.
Lovely video! I like that you also pointed out that the mod is not perfect yet and has its flaws here and there. Didn't play for a couple of weeks but you definitely ignited that desire again!
I love AE. But I really do hope that they address the bugs, add a population system, allow you to liberate cities, and add more naval conflicts in the future. It's so close to being a true successor to DEI.
I haven't played Ancient Empire but as far as i know one of the differences to DEI is the supply system, i kinda prefer the DEI system, especially in terms of rectuitable baggage train unit, which add much immersion and realistic bonus to my army composition. I hope they can make such a submod for AE in the future. Guess i'll wait for more AE update for now.
Great stuff, liked and subbed :) The scenes in your video look great, i'm sure i saw dust on some of the units armour and shields, what graphics mods were you using ?
Altho I prefer DEI in general, I gotta say (specially after the big update) that I really enjoy the possibility of formations due to the Attila engine, the buildings and ofc, the FPS! Really cannot get over 30-50 on R2 (RTX 2070super) but if I play Attila, I get over 100fps. Gotta ad tho, that I cannot play Attila on borderless windows cause my main screen is 1440p, wich is possible on R2, wich also makes it better for me as I can easily switch videos/discord on my other screens. :)
I just started my first DEI campaign as Parthia! So far it's pretty cool, I have the difficulty set to hard so I'm having a TON of public order issues and it looks like I'll be mostly dealing with rebels for the first dozen or so turns. It's slow going but so is my Attila campaign so I'm gonna try and not hold that against the mod.
The start date is unique indeed, it's rare to see a campaign in which rome is already stablished, have to go back to Roma surrectum to see a mod that represents such a start date (or was it Invasio Barbarorum?)
One thing that sucks about using the Attila map for this time period, is that the Achaia (Greece) and Macedonia provinces of the Rome 2 map, are represented by 4 regions in Attila, rather than 6. That's a really bad area to lose that level of detail for the Hellenic Era.
Here are some suggestions for future videos because I love modded total war just as much and hope more players will feel the immersion and extend of these brilliant mods: Rome 2: Divide et Impera with Data Venia, Testudo or Realism (many smaller submods available too, that you could present in a mod collection video) Age of Bronze (when the campaign gets released) Rise of Mordor (when the campaign gets released) Haegemonia Pax Romana Constantine: Rise of Christianity Alexander the Great Campaign DeI Para Bellum Cyrus the Great Campaign Wars of the Gods - Ancient Wars Hellenika Attila: Medieval Kingdoms Age of Justinian Terminus Total War - Ageless Empires with Radious (very fun start positions and campaigns) Fall of the Eagles Age of Vikings Rise of the North mod collection Seven Kingdoms: Total War/Total War - A Game of Ice and Fire Beginning of an End: 622 AD? Shogun 2: Total FotS Last Alliance: Total War (not in the current state) Master of Strategy Rise of the three Kingdoms ROTK V2 (not fleshed out but lovely music) Morning Sun 2.8 (long term campaign but brilliant) Napoleon The Great War Mod (when version 6.0 gets released)

Loving the content, please keep it going! That's a cool idea re the battlemaps in particular i really liked the maps in Thrones even if i didn't rate the rest of the game so much. Do you know if there are any mods for Thrones battle maps in the vanilla version of Attila?
has anyone figured out how to get around the multi bug that makes the Marian Reforms impossible due to the inability to both build the buildings and research the technologies that are inner dependant on one other?
Having played and modded both of them before, rome 2 dei doesn't really have any fancy scripts and stuff, but is more stable and much more devloped, as you will feel. Although Attila has more factions, I wouldn't say most of them are polished, many lack units, many have of them have very questionable units especially the more east you go the less polished the faction feels which kind of makes sense. Another is lack of population system. But I would say, give the mod some more time, say like 1 or 2 more years and it would definately be better than dei and as Attila has more modding possibilities, it's accurate to assume that it will surpass dei with time. Currently would say to stick to dei
We had 40 unit armies for the battle originally, but the winner was left with a huge doomstack right at the start of the campaign, it was too overpowered.

This is a great mod - and it is seriously under-rated. It's achieved what new total war mods can't do at all these days.

More mods to the people!
Pretty smart of them to port maps from other TW. Attila is my fav one but the amount of siege maps in that game is insultingly low
downloading now...thanks for the advice..

How does the AI deal with the Rome mechanics?
Please make a video about how to instal this mode...
