Dev Bloq #1 is here! We're excited to introduce a new series called 'Dev Bloqs', hosted by our Game Director Josh 'Freeek' Joynes. In Dev Bloqs we will be talking about our most recent updates, invite our team members, answer some of your questions, and share interesting behind the scenes info from the development.

Everyone wants to know about the new sabers, but im thinking about custom song maker or custom songs for beat saber, maybe even mod support. (This is available on pc, but I am talking about standalone headsets.)

@@ScriptVR you can play standalone with mods. the only thing you dont have is an editor, but you can technically use browser-based ones like beatmapper. i'm just not sure if you can save the map you make to your headset or not.

I’m looking forward to more of these, that tease at the end ooooh and I actually hope to see a vocaloid pack someday for DLC
this might just be wishful thinking but if that big thing mentioned at the end is a campaign rework or some other type of progression system with rewards (*cough* new sabers) I'll be over the moon.
Either way, super happy y'all're doing these dev bloqs now, really nice to get more insight into what you're focusing on
Super cool that y'all are doing this! I am deeply appreciative of the amount of time the team has been putting into quality of life changes, overall development, and interacting with the community in such positive and productive ways.
In the vein of remastering content, I have loved the reworked versions of legacy maps (Panic! at the Disco, Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, etc.)! In the long term, are there any plans to remaster other DLCs or early OSTs & Extras? Especially in regards to the OST content, it would be wonderful to see the old tracks get a little love with the modern mapping styles and tools!

It would be really awesome to see a custom saber system similar to that of Halo Reach’s armor customization where the player can earn points and then spend those points on different pieces. For sabers, being able to get new blades, handles, trails, sounds, and other things would be super cool! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to hear about the new things coming to Beat Saber!
Q: Changing controller settings for the better really helps beating Ex and Ex+ maps. Currently, game features only simple sliders for changing rotation and position of the sabers. We would like to see enhancements to the feature:
1. Doing settings independently for each hand, because sometimes hands are not similar.
2. Featuring some in-game or online tutorial of how to get the settings just right.
Finally! Beat Saber is starting to become more transparent and actually respond to their fans!!!

Beat Saber is already 6 years old. I remember when there was 1 OST and the Extra only. Keep going dev team 🎉
My favorite track of OST 7 is The Master. Both the track and visuals are amazing. Very easy to imagine a boss battle. Dev Bloqs are a great thing to see. Any plans to release roadmaps? As a non modder or custom song user I am more interested to know what music packs are in the works and if/when MR is going to be a playable feature.

and as most developers forget to update the community or just stops caring, we have beat games only improving, both the game, and itself.
Will we get any animated cut scenes or a switch between multiple environments mid level in new future OSTs? You have done this before with the BTS pack, with those small doll figures, but when I mean animated cut scenes I mean full on cut scenes that fit the song.

I love this idea of these videos! The additional transparency on new and future updates is very appreciated! My only suggestion would be to release them day-and-date with new updates. It would make for good way to immediately get an idea of what a new update includes.

Do you guys already have ideas for new Block Types that we have to slice through?
For something that you said that the dev team has been working on for a really long time, could it finally be the new sabers (& its possible progression system tied with it) that were announced at Connect 2021? 👀
Woo! I love it when developers want to share what's going on with the game! With that, I have a few questions.
1. Is there a chance that we could see a road map of updates? Not necessarily DLC but new features to be added? (I.E Changes to the lighting system, engine level stuff, and bug fixes)
2. Will 360 and 90 degree levels return? Those are some of my favorite levels in the whole game and they're super fun. It would be great to see some of the newer packs adapted to have those levels.
I would continue to love more Lindsey Sterling soundtracks in the game. And maybe an update on artist colabs. Love the new dev bloqs!

Can y’all PLEASE have Julian Calor in OST 7? His style perfectly matched the game with EDM and almost dumbstep!
I’m sure the whole community would like to see custom sabers and trails in standalone beat saber. Maybe even a progression system and a shop with sabers and trails that can be slowly earned though free in game currency and not a paid currency.

Please, may you explain technically why it is sometimes difficult to release updates or features for different platforms?
What are the main challenges for you guys when you start developing? Do you think you might reach a point where older platforms (like PS4) would need to be dropped or skipped for content or features?

Best track from OST 7 has to be lustre. Having a tribute to something as iconic as crystallized was just such an awesome surprise, the song itself is actually just amazing, and the map was very fun, clean, and actually had some nice representation too! Also wanna say as a beat saber player who’s more invested in the game than most, the controller settings update mentioned at 7:21 is gonna be REALLY nice. (And I think it goes without saying what i’m most excited for lol)
Is there a MR mode planned? And is it possible to get better graphics on Quest, like Laser reflections?
Im curious if we're going to be getting a song from Kurokotei? I'm a big fan of the Songs Kurokotei makes, especially the 2 most popular songs, Scattered Faith and Galaxy Collapse.

Now here are some questions to future dev bloqs
- are we gonna perhaps remaster the campaign to add the newer osts that weren't there
- are the white light events (primary & boost) going to be editable in the custom color selection
- is the hip hop mixtape going to have a censored version of all the songs in the future
- how do you normally find color sets for a specific artist accurately well?
- are we perhaps going to get voice chat within multiplayer
- are you going to add more achievements to beat saber

I hope a future update is a remaster of OST 1 and 2
Q: Game has a Jump Distance static slider. Currently, it only allows 100ms precision. For some hard maps, it is not ideal, because the difference between 400 and 500ms can be huge. Could we see more enhanced precision, like for 50ms? So we could set it to 350 or 450ms.
Will you be in future episodes?
I kinda read „Deev Bloqs“ but only half of my mind did. If you’re in every episode it should be called „Deev“ or „Deeev“ + „Bloqs“.
