My favorite part to start off the tension of the film: Operator: "Are you alone in the house?" Rose: "Yes" Operator: "Are you sure?" That part made every one in the theater gasp
In Trevor and Holly's defense, if they can't physically see someone/something stalking Rose, they're gonna think she losing it mentally. Rose initially did the same thing with Laura after meeting her.
Exactly, Rose was acting like she was gone, Trevor tried to understand what what’s going with her, but with something they can’t see, well everyone will be cautious. She was standing with a knife while being out of it.
@@Kenny-ep2nf lets be honest, if this was real life would you honestly hands on heart believe someone who said this was happening to them? Most people would struggle to believe such a thing. It's completely surreal. Trevor and Holly's responses while seeming heartless to the viewer, are very realistic reactions.
As someone from a highly toxic and dysfunctional family, I feel for Rose. I don't even want to go into what happened to my mom and how it effected me and my sister, but it broke us in the long run too. She always treated me like I chose to have issues from how we were raised and what happened to our mom, like I could be happy if I just let it all go. Truth is she hadn't let it go either, she just suppressed it all and drank a lot. I feel for Rose. I wish she'd lived.
I had a horrible reaction to a med a while back. The performance from Laura is an example of how much horror went on in my head that was intent on killing me. I'm not crazy, this really happened. I became my own attempted murderer that I couldn't control. The serotonin levels were completely fried because of that pill . This movie definitely resonates with me. Mental health matters. Ask questions about what you're being prescribed.
I found this more to be a psychological horror/thriller, with commentary on how ppl treat ppl with mental illness and showing signs of suicide. Family members etc just ignore and tell you to smile as you fall deeper into depression. And then after it happens, ppl always say 'There weren't any signs!' 'I had no idea!' When ppl reach out for help, listen.
If you didn’t catch it, the actress who plays the therapist in this (Robin Weigert) was also in AHS! She was briefly in Asylum as the mother of the possessed boy who went to Briarcliff to later be exorcised and the demon/devil passed into Sister Mary Eunice, Roanoke as the real Mama Polk in the “Return to Roanoke” second half of the season, and also briefly in Red Tide as the lady who shows the house to the Gardener family when they first arrive in Provincetown. Nice to see her in a horror movie!🤩😍
As I said on Twitter that rose audio jumpscare got me so good like the car scene in haunting of hill house. This score, tension, violence everything was so effective. I hated it follows so when people compared it I almost skipped this. So glad I didn't. I loved this film. This reaction was again so good. Yall and zzavid had me dying. Can't wait for the next reaction ❤
I think the funniest scene in the movie upon rewatch is when Rose enters the party and the demon pretending to be a party guest leads her away to get drinks. The demon says: "Can I ask you advice?" then it cuts to a match strike lighting the birthday candle
She really was a party guest, she hallucinated her smiling at her, just the way she hallucinated Karl smiling and shouting at her. When the staff ran in to restrain him, he was lying on the bed doing nothing.
The lady wasn’t a demon. Remember how Laura says in the beginning “it pretends to be people. Sometimes it’s a stranger. Sometimes it’s someone I know. It wears their faces. It smiles at me”. The lady was a real party guest. The “thing” just wore her face later, for the smiling bit.
This movie was great but when she didn’t escape her childhood trauma and was ultimately defeated I was PISSED !! I didn’t want y’all to have to experience tht heartbreak 😮💨
Tbh these people’s smiles are what I feel like I’m doing when I make myself smile in social situations. I’m autistic, and don’t emote what I’m feeling as much as neurotypical people, so I have to consciously act out eyebrow movements, smiles, gestures, etc. when having literally any interaction with someone who doesn’t know me well. Being smiled at by other people and having to look at their face while they do it feels EXACTLY how it’s depicted in this movie. Watching this made me feel like, “Good, now all of you can see the horror of smiles, too.”
I saw this movie in the theatres purely for Kyle Gallner. Then posted my review including my thirst for Kyle on twitter and Kyle liked my tweets. This movie added new trauma when it included my sheer humiliation at Kyle seeing my thirst. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Yes it is! She’s so good. One of my favorite Kevin Bacon movie (so many to choose from lol!) is Stir of Echoes. Maybe ya’ll can react to that. It’s a psychological mystery that’s spooky. It’s so good!
22:25 made me laugh so much!! It Shows a creepy evil lady sitting on chair and smiling like a lunatic! And your reaction is "OMG... I love her blouse " 😁😁😆😆
I can't speak for a man, but if I was with a woman who I believed may have killed our cat (or even just found him dead and gave his coprse to her 7-year-old nephew at his birthday party), I wouldn't be able to sleep under the same roof. Even if she was very gentle and tender with the cat. In fact, that would make it worse because how could you trust that person if she can be so loving with something and then kill it? Especially if she couldn't remember it. Whether it was due to a mental condition or a demon, I would be uncomfortable around her. And as far as her boss asking if she's seeing a therapist, I'm actually surprised that there isn't a hospital policy mandating that employees be cleared by a therapist before returning to work after a traumatic event. It happened all the time in Grey's Anatomy. Given her line of work, her apparent mental state, and the trauma she experienced on the job, I think her employer has more of a responsibility to check in with her than what we saw in the movie.
I mean, so they definitely need to make a second one where we follow the detective around while he tries not to die, right?! Honestly though I know a lot of horror mimics or copies other horror but I feel like this took a lot from It Follows. The passing on person to person vibe and the demon thing turning into a giant person. Still it did have it's own rules and story. I want more back story as to where it came from or how it started, that would be dope. As usual, fantastic reaction
I feel like a prequel would work best because if they were to make a sequel and follow the detective, the most obvious answer would be he would just shoot a criminal and be done with it.
My roommate and I saw this in Seattle on its 2nd weekend thinking it was going to be an empty theater. We arrive, get our snacks and got our back seats reserved. We get in to the theater and it was packed! Not one empty seat. It added to the atmosphere! It was the first time since before the pandemic that we went to a movie for a horror film with a full house. Last time before this was The Nun. It was so worth it! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time that I forgot I had snacks to munch on. Favorite movie of 2022.
I love this movie so much and it creeped me out when seeing it in the theaters as specialy the part where the face came ut of the darkness yelling her name that one made my heart pound for a while even after it passed. The actress of Rose is the real life daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Segwick which is always interesting
When Joel put his arm on Rose's in the car, I immediately started tearing up because I know they're both going to die. I hope Smile has its sequel because it would be about Joel now.
Absolutely loved this movie. I hated It Follows and this movie is what I wanted that movie to be. I love the way they talked about trauma, they used scares perfectly (both brooding horror and jumpscares), kept you on the edge of your seat, the acting was amazing, so much fun.
This movie is so brilliant and effective!I watched it in cinema and I love horror but at the same time I must admit I did spend half the movie with my fingers over my ears- It really makes you feel your own sense of paranoia with the constant anxiety of the next threat and moustache is what sent me over the edge RIFKNP lil dude ;-;
If you guys haven't seen Strange Darling yet, I highly recommend it. I think you'd enjoy it. Interesting idea, even more interesting execution, and great cast, including Kyle Gallner.
ik im like 5 months late on this but the social media marketing on this movie was insane. the sending people to public places to smile to get media coverage, and on tiktok making it seem kind of cringe so people went in expecting to kind of laugh at it just for it to be terrifying? genuinely some of my favorite marketing I’ve seen lately
I don't know if you guys watched the scream tv series, but rose played in the first season. The one who was dating the girl and they're video ended up online.
I have to say that I found you guys about two weeks ago and I absolutely adore you two. I am so excited to see y’all’s reaction on this movie. Have fun guys. Love you both!!! 😘😘😘😘an adoring new sub
I have not seen many movies in a while that scared the shit out of me like this movie. The only other movie was Terrified. You two should react to it if you haven't. That movie was so good.
I do have to say that this will be a long comment. So, enjoy reading. I’ve avoided watching this movie for 2 reasons ever since it came out but I am very curious as to what this movie is. But I might as well give it a chance. Anyway, the first reason is because I am not a big fan of people staring at you creepily and having someone smiling while either chasing you or just being down right creepy and doing weird stuff, if that makes sense. Also, including in the first reason it will ruin the one thing that makes me happy, which is smiling and brightening up peoples day. Which leads me into the second reason. The second reason is because I like smiling. I’ve been told that my smile brightens people’s day. So, it became part of my personality and I smile at people whenever I can like; walking down the street or checking out at store or something, just to brighten someone else day or night. So, without smiling I don’t know who I am. Smiling is a big part of my life and like I said without it, I wouldn’t know who I am. So, if I watch this movie, it would make me not want to smile or see a smile ever again. So, let’s hope that doesn’t happen cause if it does then I’m going to stop watching it. But I would still like the video even though I don’t like the movie. Also, I have one pet peeve about mental patients is when people call them freaks, crazies, mad, or any of those insults or whatever. That upsets me a lot. Because I have ADHD, I know that’s different from what they are talking about but it’s still a mental illness. Anyway, I can already tell I will not like this movie. But like I said I will give this movie a chance. Also, I already had to cover my screen just because of the smiles.
The husband reaction is reasonable cant see anything cant hear it but see your wife literally going crazy jumpy, cat died and it goes to her nephew as a present etc. Would make anybody think their partner having some kind of breakdown
this is one of my favorite movies of all time, honestly. I love any movie that can give me that deep, nauseous anxious feeling, and I love when there's parts where you realize what's ABOUT to happen, and then all that's left is that helpless feeling that you don't WANT it to, but all you can do is watch. I watched this last night and got scared but surprised I didn't get scared by waking up at 2AM like i did with Terrifier 2 but it's a good horror movie! MAYBE scarier than The Conjuring love the reaction
@oynxerrr Are you kidding me??🤣 It’s not scary than Conjuring The Conjuring scariest movie and based on the true story Why are you compared to The Conjuring film ? Two movies very different : cinematography, scariest moments and a lot.. The Conjuring Scariest movie all time , and Smile it’s like so many scariest and traumatised DON’T COMPARE ALL FILMS FOR THE CONJURING MOVIE SMILE DONT SCARY THAN THE CONJURING MOVIE 😒😏
My mum and I had this theory that they played lollipop at the end to get everyone in the cinema to start smiling/laughing at the end... fits with the theme, no?
If no one’s around followed by the “does it go back to the person before” when we’re talking about how everyone beforehand has killed themselves 😭 they’re already gone who is it going back to
Sooo... do you think there's gonna be a part 2? She was burning & we saw the reflection of that in his eye, but wasn't there something about making it dramatic or messy (the cat) for effect in order for it to be passed on? So is he next? Love you both 😍
I was like stay outside man don't come in here lol. Like in that movie don't think it don't say it lol that something man lol don't come in there lol. I knew it was going to end like that lol. Like in drag me to he'll lol. Loved that lollipop song happy song after what we seen lol. Love how that title came flashing on at the beginning lol. I'm always smiling lol. After watching this was posting smiling pictures on Facebook saying I watched this lol😀😁😄😃😊😆😋😍😎you guys get all the smiling faces lol
I ain't gonna lie. This movie the smiling and stuff reminds me of a supposedly true story that this man told on a show. I believe was called Haunted. How true the stories were I can not say however the story the man spoke of was his belief he was born cursed. And how he was tormented by an entity with a horrific smile constantly on it's face. I can't really go on and on explaining the entire episode. The show is on Netflix though. As I said I can not say with 100% certainty the stories are true however even if they aren't they are terrifying. (The show itself has the people and a group talk and recall these stories while playing a recreation of sorts.) Would definitely recommend. But yeah this movie reminds me of that episode. Also I think this movie has given me fricken trauma. Guess who's definitely not sleeping today. That would be me. Yay-
My favorite part to start off the tension of the film:
Operator: "Are you alone in the house?"
Rose: "Yes"
Operator: "Are you sure?"
That part made every one in the theater gasp
"Are you alone in the house?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"Well, I mean, if you count the voices-"

The Conjuring Scariest movie all time , and Smile it’s like so many scariest and traumatised
DON’T COMPARE ALL FILMS FOR THE CONJURING MOVIE
SMILE DONT SCARY THAN THE CONJURING MOVIE 😒😏
I love you guys so much.
My mum and I had this theory that they played lollipop at the end to get everyone in the cinema to start smiling/laughing at the end... fits with the theme, no?
at 15:55 you just predicted a scene in Smile 2. i hope you'll watch the sequel.
The most horrifying thing in the movie... flip-flops and socks
If no one’s around followed by the “does it go back to the person before” when we’re talking about how everyone beforehand has killed themselves 😭 they’re already gone who is it going back to
A great question! 😩
Sooo... do you think there's gonna be a part 2? She was burning & we saw the reflection of that in his eye, but wasn't there something about making it dramatic or messy (the cat) for effect in order for it to be passed on? So is he next? Love you both 😍

Kal said he's getting all of the coins in 2022.
41:22 How the fuck is Trevor going to ask Rose if she's home but he's not? He is an unbelievable partner. I swear, I hope he learned a lesson.
Kyle Gallner distracted me most of this movie 😍 he is so finneeeee.
😂😂😂 "Talk about a deep throat baby . . . The deepest"

Looks like they made at least 2 versions
This movie reminds me of "jscobs ladder" which IMO is even more disturbing then this movie despite being made 34 years ago
Yay-
Trauma makes trauma
Whataburger killed me 💀
11:37 😂😂😂
