Wonderful! I adore this piece and never grow tired of hearing it. Ms Needleman brings her own verve and obvious enjoyment of the music. Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the concert and to its presence here on youtube.
Wow, really beautiful and imaginative playing! Interesting she plays several of the infamous misprints in the Boosey and Hawkes score--but makes them sound convincing nonetheless!
The most noticeable misprint is at 1:59, in the sixth note of the line of triplets. She plays an A, which is what is in the Boosey and Hawkes edition, but the more accepted note is a B.
+Jane Walker one of them is at 2:01 (the upper figure should be BCB not BCA, just as at 2:10 and elsewhere). There are other differences too. Listen to Small/LPO or Alex Klein (youtube).
Sombody must be resbonsibel for all the soloconsert for woodwind instrument coming into UA-cam the last 6 months. V Williams is at the moment a consert many try to play. But many of this recordings are played by oboist with very bad ugly sound. This one for ex. I ask UA-cam to stopp this recording, only 2 of them are in topp class.
For me this is the most miraculous, glorious piece of music in all the world.
At least, in my little corner of it..

Katherine's sound is magnificent. As an oboist I look up to
her in awe.
This might be my favorite performance of this. Gorgeously played.
spectacular

Which are the infamous misprints , anyone?

Nice playing but don't care for the sound.
Superb playing. The best possible sound.
The audio is not professional, that makes a big difference.
I profoundly disagree.. her sound is wonderful. It's not distorted by the ugly, pitch-distorting excessive vibrato that most oboists use.
@@genialhorn just another tasteless apple fallen from the tabuteau tree. Marcel should have stayed in France.
@@marcusjuniusbrutus7001 I don't agree with you, but, OK, hey, we can both 'agree to disagree'!
