thanks! but it's the patreon supporters that make no-ads possible. the only downside is the handful of youtube features we can't use because the channels aren't monetized. still, i think no-ads is definitely a good choice right now.
Okay, that was a great episode and the guys from William Chris (Chris and Joshua) were awesome in their thinking along, comments on camera and general vibe. Make sure to pass on tribe appreciation
Yeah, this video has me genuinely excited for the future of the distillery. All the INSANE serendipitous networking going on is truly incredible to behold. Your choice of winery to collaborate with looks like a perfect fit- those folks are definitely your "peebuhl"! And I say do 3 barrels- why leave yourself asking "...but what if we had"?...just do them ALL.
Fantastic episode. May have been light on shenanigans but the information was very interesting. Also loved the offsite shooting. I’m gonna have to watch it again! Bravo guys!
Wow ... the possibilities are endless. If you aren't already doing it, you need to start keeping a video for each barrel you are creating - from birth till empty. Can you imagine looking back on that 20-30 years from now. Interesting video, good job.
As a certified Sommelier with previous experience in wine production I find Whiskies finished in wine casks (such as Longrow) fascinating. I hope this makes your whisky really interesting. By the way, I sampled the Eleanor at the Scotch Test Dummies 5th Anniversary celebration, it was REALLY tasty!
Erik Wait In that case, you should try Penderyn Madeira. It’s produced in Wales and, as the name suggests, is finished in Madeira wine casks. It’s currently one of my favourites
@@Fidgottio In 2016 I got into whisky while studying for the Unit 4 exam on spirits for the Wine & Spirited Educational trust (WSET). I wasn't expecting to fall in love with whisky, but while tasting The Macallan 12 I caught the whisky bug. So, I ordered 104 minis from the UK which included the Penderyn. Afterwards I became a certified Whisky Ambassador and then traveled to Kentucky to visit 6 distilleries and then Scotland to study whisky and tour 20 distilleries. I can't say that I was overly impressed with the Penderyn, BUT it was very early in my whisky journey. To give a more accurate assessment, I'd need to taste it again as my understanding and appreciation of whisky has definitely progressed over the past two years.
Thanks, Erik! It's good news for us and Eleanor that MGP makes kickass whiskey :-) And it turns out, spending 6 months in the Texas heat really does dramatically change it from the other MGP's I've tried.
Definitely one of my favorite Whiskey Tribe episodes. I really enjoy listening to Daniel and Chris making such a grounded and relative side by side comparison. Golf Claps all around for the magical video man Rex! Such a great episode! Well done guys!
I was thinking how they are doing in this video. Drinking wine and whisky together. I will look for that Glenfiddich though. I have a particular affinity for wine-casked whiskies.
There is an understated beauty in letting a whiskey nerd and a wine nerd off the leash to play together. Great work on this video - one of my favorites to date! You guys have been an inspiration for me to expand my whiskey palate beyond bourbon (although it'll always be my first love).
Has this experiment seen the light of day yet? I searched through the channel videos and didn't see a follow-up episode. I am very interested to see how it turned-out.
You mb just keep getting better , very entertaining and informative . I've always wondered what a good whiskey finished in a muskatel barrel would taste like. Cheers to all the mb everywhere may your roads be smooth and your whiskey magnificent.
Standing in front of about 300 barrels “1 of our 12 barrels” hahaha guess you gotta start somewhere. Love what you’re doing super interesting can’t wait to see the outcome.
My buddy owners a vineyard in NY. Borghese vineyards and I’m trying to find the right barrels to buy from him to make my own legacy barrel. It’s to be filled on my wedding day with my choice of un-aged whiskey and we are going to pull from it on milestone dates. Anniversary. Kid gratuations. Weddings. That climate up here in New England really always the wine to soak into these barrels. It’s such cold dry winters and hot humid summers. I wish you luck my friends.
Been waiting for this video! Appreciate the technical explanation of whiskey and wine aging and finishing. Perhaps in the future, there could be an episode on whiskey and wine pairing?
There's a distillery in Portland Oregon called Bull Run that has a 10 year bourbon that is finished in Pino Noir casks and the flavor is freaking awesome! Try that with yours
So just started appreciating bourbon/whiskey... curious if anyone has ever tried a western red cedar barrel? I work with cedar alot and it has a strong aroma that could potentially taste good aswell... love the channel! Keep it up
Maybe when they bottle the wine from the barrel you end up choosing, you could reserve a few cases to be available. Or even do some mini bottles and sell them together.
I used to drink Canadian club mixed with homemade wine in about 30 70 mix and i can remember it being good but after a couple glasses you don't remember much
What could we do with the 'Glass of wine', 'Dram of whisky' pairing idea...? Daniel, could you suggest for the viewers, a few basic pairings? I don't know wine, but I think of it as very accessible. State laws differ, but here when I go to the grocery store there also are aisles of wine, so it would be very easy to pick up a bottle or two. It's not so easy with whisky, here. We have state liquor stores. What would I buy in order to have some sort of similar experience as you have shown in this video? Perhaps a Whiskey Tribe video could be dedicated to the idea... Cheers!
Super intriguing episode. Love the content of two experts of seperate worlds talking through the possibilities of marrying the two profiles. (If I had a vote, I'd vote for the first barrel after driving to the holding wharehouse.)
Starting 7:34 and after elaborate description he responds "so you're looking for more sweetness in mid-palate?" At this moment I realize how much I have to learn in tasting vocabulary..
I loved this episode! That's super cool and interesting. S/o to Camera Man Rex! Question - You can wine-finish a whiskey, but does anyone whiskey finish wine?? Could get cool and funky.
Very cool episode. I'm excited to see how this all plays out and it gives me some ideas for my homemade whisk... Err..."Beer". Sure let's go with wine finished "beer". 😉
“I am the dump glass...” spoken like a true master mooch👌🏻
Don't just drink the dump glass, BE the dump glass. Only then will you truly understand true magnificence.
Master Mooch indeed
I can here to literally say this 😂😂
really appreciate the fact that there still no ads on the tribe and vault video's. Love the choice
thanks! but it's the patreon supporters that make no-ads possible. the only downside is the handful of youtube features we can't use because the channels aren't monetized. still, i think no-ads is definitely a good choice right now.
also, if you ever see an ad here - a 3rd party made a copyright claim. most likely music. most likely bogus. we just don't have time to challenge it.
I’m signing up in their patron and it says they get 20,000 a month from patrons so they’ll doing well form loyal tribesman and deservedly so.
@@danlepine9761 , thanks! the wine barrel vote gets posted this afternoon.
Okay, that was a great episode and the guys from William Chris (Chris and Joshua) were awesome in their thinking along, comments on camera and general vibe. Make sure to pass on tribe appreciation
I love how approachable and non snobby that all was. It was welcoming and encouraging which we need to see more of in food and drink culture.
I thought it was a little bit snobby at first, but Daniel quickly won Wine Guy's respect. 👍
This was, by far, my favorite episode to date.
agreed
Me too, very cool

Fantastic episode. May have been light on shenanigans but the information was very interesting. Also loved the offsite shooting. I’m gonna have to watch it again! Bravo guys!
Lads I know these episodes are a lot of work. But I love it! More I say!!
Thank you for your work
I swear, you guys are some of the best hosts on any show. Please don't stop doing what you do.
I love how an artist is honestly appreciating an other artist's art :)
Wow ... the possibilities are endless. If you aren't already doing it, you need to start keeping a video for each barrel you are creating - from birth till empty. Can you imagine looking back on that 20-30 years from now. Interesting video, good job.
I'm glad they decided to leave the original green paint on the door frame. Great vids and good luck with the flavors!!!
Rex I think your bromance with Daniel has gotten severely challenged on the trip. To be honest, they look great together....and I think will do well

@@Fidgottio Thanks for the tip but I've reviewed it twice.
Erik Wait Fair enough. I wasn’t sure how widely known it was, considering it’s not from one of the “big” whisky countries. What did you think of it?

Favorite whiskey tribe episode ever! I love wine and I love whiskey and I especially love wine finished whiskey.
Definitely one of my favorite Whiskey Tribe episodes. I really enjoy listening to Daniel and Chris making such a grounded and relative side by side comparison. Golf Claps all around for the magical video man Rex! Such a great episode! Well done guys!
Bro the camera work and editing in these videos is superb thumbs up to Chad and Rex for the great work
Man, I love the idea of a whisky and wine pairing...
Then I would recommend the Glenfiddich 19 years old Age of Discovery Red Wine cask. That is an amazing whisky.
I was thinking how they are doing in this video. Drinking wine and whisky together. I will look for that Glenfiddich though. I have a particular affinity for wine-casked whiskies.
Starward have done this in Melbourne Australia.
Tipperary red wine finish is a great choice
Whatever you say randy marsh
It was like -
"Daniel and Rex are here. Someone clean the window in the front door!!!"

You guys hit if off with William Chris Vineyards. Hope to see more collaboration efforts with them in the future.
I wish Tribe videos were more frequent than vault videos. These videos are absolutely awesome.
wow - that day didn't suck!
Awesome video. The best capper was the story of the man remembering painting the door with his daddy. Production genius!
7:52
Pretty cool to see the Rosetta Stone moment joining the language of wine and the language of whisky.
😊
One of the best Tribe episodes to date. Top notch stuff Rex..I mean guys
I lived in Fredericksburg for about 5 years and loved it. The town has really exploded with it's little wine boom Industry. Awesome!
My in laws have a subscription with this winery. What a small world (Texas)!
Really cool. Can’t wait to pick up this expression when it’s available.
Has this experiment seen the light of day yet? I searched through the channel videos and didn't see a follow-up episode. I am very interested to see how it turned-out.
Rex.... Your camerawork is amazing. Love it! The last 30 seconds are pure art!
Thanks! I’m definitely more comfortable editing than shooting. Usually just trying to make the shots passable.

What a pleasant video, simply enjoyable. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with all of us. The was so educational and I hope both of you work together in the future
Now I'm really interested to see the results. Great episode.
Awesome video guys. Thank you so much for sharing!
Very cool "behind the curtain" vid. It's exciting to hear about your progress and the thinking behind it. Home run, keep it up!
"I am the dump glass." LOL. My favorite part of the video. I enjoyed the entire video, but that line, did make me laugh.
Standing in front of about 300 barrels “1 of our 12 barrels” hahaha guess you gotta start somewhere. Love what you’re doing super interesting can’t wait to see the outcome.
would like to see more of you guys on the road at different distilleries, Daniel seemed to be having the time of his life
Whiskey + wine = "Texas Martini" Sounds amazing to me...

I love wine and I love whiskey. The crossover is excellent here.

I like the transformation Rex goes through between Friday and Saturday from the mooch to a human being 😆
The closing pour spouts on the wine bottle at the end look interesting.
I love the silhouette shot at the very end, nice work Rex!
