The idea is simply, if you square the result, no negative values will be produced. Therefore you can defined a single Threshold for detection.

I have two images of 1.7gb each and when I perform image differencing using pillow it's say out of pixel range.. what's the solution to that? And will this method work for such large images of Tiff format

To use machine learning in some cases you need to indicate samples (change and no change pixels) for an algorithm which can try to find the thresholds automatically.
