Wasn’t expecting 4Him to make the list! But I totally agree both with your Cure and SF59 takes. Americana is my fav, and Wish is entirely under appreciated outside of their big singles
This was a fun listen. I was definitely caught by surprise to hear a few artists mentioned like Five O’clock People and All Star United that I don’t recall getting a whole lot of traction outside of me and my weird circle of friends at the time. The mention of 4Him REALLY took me back, because I was SUPER into them before I got into the whole alternative music boom of the mid-90s. I was supposed to see them at a Christian music festival in the summer of ‘94, then a timing snafu led to them getting bumped when everything ran late and there was only time left for them or Petra (the Saturday headliner) to play that night. I was LIVID, and I held a mis-aimed grudge against Petra for the longest time! A lot of 4Him’s stuff didn’t age well for me going back to it all these years later, but The Ride and especially The Message were still reasonably solid. Anyway, here’s my Top 10 from my blog: 10 Caedmon’s Call - Caedmon’s Call 9 dc Talk - Supernatural 8 Jars of Clay - Jars of Clay 7 Iona - Journey into the Morn 6 Out of the Grey - Out of the Grey 5 Radiohead - OK Computer 4 Iona - Beyond These Shores 3 No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom 2 Chasing Furies - With Abandon 1 Jars of Clay - Much Afraid
What a great decade! So many that I continue to listen to regularly to this day. - Josh
