THIS video footage IS NOT the BEGINNING of the Body Cam.
The FIRST time the Deputy knocked on the door, he did NOT identify himself. He actually stood off to the side of the door.
    --------------------
The body cam shows this from the beginning:
    0:39-1:00
“I wasn’t sure where it came from…I didn’t want to call the Police”
    * HOW did the Leasing Office determine that the “disturbance” was coming from the Airman’s apartment?
    -----------------------
2:10- Deputy approached the door THEN waited
2:24 - Deputy’s hand went up THEN it came down
2:29-2:31 - Deputy knocked on the door
2:31 - Deputy backed up THEN waited
    * Deputy NEVER identified himself at THIS point
2:36 - Deputy switched sides of the door (L>R)
    * Deputy waited
2:59-3:02 - Deputy knocks THEN says “Sheriffs Office open the door”
3:02-3:09 - Deputy waited; switched sides again (R>L) THEN waited
3:09-3:12 - Deputy standing slightly off to the side & back
Deputy knocks THEN says “Sheriffs Office open the door”
3:13 - Airman opens the door
3:16 -3:18 Deputy was firing shots at the Airman whose weapon was at his side pointed DOWN
3:19 - Deputy yells “Drop the gun, drop the gun” AFTER he’d already shot the Airman

I think he was thinking maybe it’s someone impersonating a cop. If so, check the peep hole. Once you confirmed it’s the cops, put that gun away. It’s hard to disagree with you. Still, holding a gun is one thing vs pointing. Nonetheless, it takes less than 1-2 seconds to switch. I’m not taking sides. I’m just trying to be objective. Cops have a very tough job. I’m not talking about those sorry ones. The best cops can make a mistake. They sometimes have less than 1-2 seconds to make a life and death decision.

Anyone can say "sheriff's dept open the door". It is perfectly legal to hold a gun in your own house. What crime did the deputy shoot this man for? He never raised or pointed the gun at anyone. What if the gut at the apartment had been another cop or a 13 year old with a squirt gun? The deputy freaked out and made a huge mistake and now someone is dead for committing no crime. I would not of done what either of them did. We have training on scenarios exactly like this to prevent this from happening. Clearly this deputy failed. 😡

The Airman probably peeped through the peephole but not seeing anyone there, thought it was going to be a home invasion, thus the gun on his right hand. When the Airman opened the door and saw it was a deputy indeed, the Airman tried to convince the deputy not to shoot. But it was too late. Remember the acorn incident? I'm only going from what my wife said about this. The airman obviously did have a weapon in hand, no argument there. when he opened the door, apparently the officer did see it and raised his service weapon and opened fire, killing the airman. Here's my questions:
Did the officer order the airman to drop his weapon before engaging him?
Did the airman raise his weapon at the officer, creating a life or death situation?
I'm not taking sides here at the moment, but I am questioning the officer's actions. I understand that the situation moves fast and I know this being a former security police officer from the Air Force, a captain and a deputy squadron commander. My SPs are highly, HIGHLY trained to assess a threat and respond in Force as necessary. if what I'm going on as to these circumstances seen, my opinion is that this may be a bad shoot. Undoubtedly, the AFOSI may be asking questions, and they don't relent. If any of my airmen were involved in a shooting resulting in death, im going to be up someone's ass till I get answers.

    2. Photo shows him four years earlier, in Basic Training. No stripe. If the family does not have a more recent photo, they were not very close, and this is just a cash grab.
    3. If he was supposed to be helping his family financially, why not stay in the barracks to save money?
