      When you have other credit cards that gives you 5% back in other categories then the 2% is good for the categories that the cards don’t for example the hair store that’s definitely not a 5% back category on your card so the 2% is definitely good for it

    No contest, Chase any day of the week. Chase cash back can be redeemed into any linked bank account or banked for travel. WF can only be redeemed in a WF checking account, or statement credit, but only in $25 increments.

      Would you recommend it even if a person does not have a 2% but only a 1.5% card? The benefit is no foreign fee, and I know someone with the chase FLEX who has 20% back on a lot of big stores right now… so the WF portal should be able to compete

    I have the active cash with a 14k limit. They should offer their customers more than 2%. It’s still a good utility card though for misc purchases that your other cards don’t have a category for. Their rewards program is solid. I’d take it over the freedom unlimited. That 1.5% cash back is weaker. I’d say skip the CFU unless you plan on using chase rewards for travel, then pair it with the CSP or CSR.

      When you finish up paying down your entire balance and want to get rewards out of the slate card, you can product change it to a freedom unlimited/flex. I’m suggesting this because usually balance transfer focused cards don’t usually have any reward/ advantages after you’ve finished the 0 apr period. This way, you get the best bang for your buck(hard pull).

    Like you said, it comes to strategy vs practicality. I think if you wanted to run a lean set up, 3 cards or less, then the Wells Fargo active cash wins. My set up (cfu, cff, discover-it, and Amex bce downgraded from bcp) just doesn’t warrant the active cash.
    That being said, I bank with Wells Fargo and have their visa signature card with a large credit limit. My hope is that with the new card lineup coming out this Winter/Spring they’ll have a new card that combines the best of both the propel and the visa signature. If so, then the goal will be to product change the visa signature to that.

    People that care about cashback and ONLY WANT 1 CARD, should just get a flat 2% card. either Citi double cash or the Wells Fargo active cash. Otherwise you’re gonna end up being like one of these UA-camrs and have to have seven credit cards in your pocket to try to finesse the system. too much work, I’d rather just have one card

    • @JimBobe
      @JimBobe 2 роки тому +7

      I dont think so. Chase freedom unlimited is better than a 2% card. While its only 1.5% on all purchases (only 0.5% less),
      3% on dinning is nice, and will more than make up for that loss in the 0.5% difference.
      The 5% on groceries for first year is the cherry on top

    • @ImYoutubing247
      @ImYoutubing247 2 роки тому +2

      @@JimBobe Hey Jim I already did the math on this. After the first year and even in the first year depending on how much you spend it’s still beneficial to just get a flat 2% percent card if that’s your only card . I mean how often are you going out to eat each month ? Not enough to offset the half a percent

    • @JimBobe
      @JimBobe 2 роки тому +1

      @@ImYoutubing247 its not just restaurants. It includes delivery services as well (its in the fine print)
      The average person spends $232 every month eating out. Getting 3% cashback on that is much more valuable than a 0.5% loss on everyday purchases.
      Obviously if you dont eat out at all then this doesnt apply to you. But for the average person, chase freedom brings more value

    • @ImYoutubing247
      @ImYoutubing247 2 роки тому +1

      @@JimBobe again the math speaks for itself you’d have to spend an absurd amount of money for that to make sense I’ll give you an example my average dining this year I spent approximately $610 a month on dining (which is way more then the average person you are claiming). I would need to spend double that to break even with that card compared to just a flat 2%.
      So unless you’re spending over $1200 a month in dining and take out, this card is not for you.

    • @ImYoutubing247
      @ImYoutubing247 2 роки тому +1

      @@JimBobe The only thing I’ll add is if you use this card only for dining and another card for other categories this would be beneficial, however that is not what my original comment was about. I’m talking about if the only card you have is a 2% cash back, thats still more beneficial

    • @mikegoodwin2386
      @mikegoodwin2386 2 роки тому

      Different banks do it differently. With Chase you can transfer those points from one card to another. If you have one of the Chase Sapphire cards and a Freedom Unlimited and/or Freedom Flex, you can transfer the points earned on the Freedom card(s) to the Sapphire card to get the points multiplier from the Sapphire. I think with American Express, they're just all in one pool, so no transfer is necessary.

    • @junito2498
      @junito2498 2 роки тому +5

      The Freedom Flex. 5% on rotating categories on common things like: gas, internet, streaming services, Walmart, PayPal, home improvement, wholesale clubs etc... is better than 1.5% on those exact same things, and if your purchase didn't fall in one of those categories, you're still getting 1%, and 1.5% isn't so much ahead of it; but 5% is more than 3x 1.5%. I got the CFU first and I regret it (I have both now), because the best strategy is to get a 2% card (that has a welcome bonus) with the CFF.

    Honestly 2 cards is a great simple set up. Custom Cash for 5% on biggest category and any flat 2% card for everything else. Any category that you spend less than $3k on a year will not make a big difference at the end of the year if you try to get 5% on those categories. About $7.5 a month over just using a 2% flat card. Is it worth having 5-10 cards for every category just to make a few extra dollars? Probably not. If it’s a card you only use online and don’t carry in your wallet than sure it’s worth it. But it’s not really worth remembering which card to pull out of your wallet everywhere you go.

    Both of these cards sounds stupid. What average Joe is spending 12,000 dollars a year on groceries not coming from Walmart? I`m single, I may spend 150 dollars a month on groceries. Tell me, on The Year of Our Lord 11/05/2021, what card to have. I have poor credit, trying to rebuild, I don`t care about APR I carry 7& utilization. Why apply for either of these cards? Or is it just for a select few? Just wondering cause I thought Wells Fargo wasn`t giving credit cards anymore
