Dude - - perhaps you've been told this but --- you'd make an awesome teacher. You seem to have a natural talent for explaining complicated information in a way that is digestible to the average person. Loved your speed run and learned a ton from it!
I just picked this up on the Switch. I had no idea the horse riding enemy could be parried. I took on a sanctuary at level 30 as a dexterity build, and that would have made the battle a lot less stressful. Glad I found this video. It was super informative.
I have always loved how easy the unspeakable deep is once you learn the one scary move. It was honestly a better feeling killing it the first time than witch or namless god for me though.
Really liked the commentary thanks man. I wanna learn that ladder clip now cuz you make that look a lot easier to get to the dev island than the only other way I saw. The one using the gravity invert brand, slingshotting yr way halfway across the map and just preying you land on it lol).
Finally finished the game with only a dagger (Midshipman's Dirk) No magic/bows/guns etc. Ending the game with MD VII and Assassin Set VI w/ a Dex build (I didn't know that dex builds suck until i fought kraekan wyrm as i noticed my dmg was too low and just said fk it) Hardest bosses were: - The tree of man (Used around 10 red shards) - The coveted (I only got lucky, the other ghost didn't attack for some reason otherwise it would be close to impossible) The most fun was: - The witch of the Lake (Fast paced dodge, run, jump and slash. Everything I wanted from a boss) The rest were fun and manageable. The Nameless god is easy after knowing how to dodge his projectiles. In fact I used the same hit, run, dodge tactics against gwyn from Dark Souls, pretty weird.
can someone explain how he leaves the menu after the glitch at 10:10 ? i'm trying to learn this speedrun and i can't leave the menu and i can't find a good guide for this part
Been a while since I've played Salt and Sanctuary, so I'm not sure. Might also depend on platform. Your best bet would probably be to read available patch notes if you can find them.
This run proves that the witch is the toughest boss in the game! ;-) Still, I don't agree that the game is harder than DS. For me the witch was the only obstacle in the game!
The Forgotten Kings would've been a cool lore point for me, but I couldn't get past the fact that it was an almost blatant copy of Castlevania SOTN's fake Grant/Sypha/Trevor fight, which I preferred in lore much more.
How do you do the character reset glitch? Great video btw, very entertaining and love how you explained the things you did. Not many speedrunners do so
Thank you :) The reset glitch works be opening two copies of the main menu at once. To do that, you exit the game normally, but during the fadeout animation, open the menu again (the same one where you just selected Exit). After that you'll be on the main menu, but your input will be processed twice, so press up up to load your character. When you load in, you'll see the main menu overlaid on top of the game, so you can delete your character and start a new one. For whatever reason, that resets your current character's level to one.
@@Grimelios Doing this, deleting the character and creating a new one (same name I presume?) keeps all of your currently allocated skills, equipment, etc.? This is a really interesting glitch. Does it effectively let your character stay the same, but with a lower level? (Thus allowing you to have more skills for your level than normal?)
how do you open a secondary new game to reset your character to level 1??? when you are at the tree house?? and why do i always lose all the salt when I try the bell drop?? Hope you are still here to answer me. thx
To be honest, it has been a while since I've actively run Salt and Sanctuary. If you go to the speedrun.com page for S&S, there's a link in the Resources section for a Discord server. I'm sure people there can give you more up-to-date information :)
I love how the jaws of death are so strong that you felt like having to say it was not a dev weapon. When I first aquired most bosses were just gone in a matter of seconds and I still could not tell you a single attack the dragon thingy boss before palace has just because he was dead so quickly.
Hey ! Really good run and commentary here ! Your runs at GDQ were really cool too ! Which version of the game are you running ? Cuz I can't find when the desecrating glitch were patched :/
Oh, that's my bad. I'm running on 1.0.0.7, which is technically a beta branch. To activate that branch (assuming you're on PC), right-click the game in Steam, click Properties, then go to the Betas tab and choose to opt into the beta. 1.0.0.7 reverts some changes from 1.0.0.6, specifically that 1.0.0.6 nerfed weapon buffs (like stained pages), which are vital to the run.
Thanks dude ! Keep up the good work ! I'm gonna train a bit on speedrunning this one :) I just casually ran it for the first time and it's such a great game ! I kinda fall in love with it
30:55 not true man, I'm sure you know you need to generally stay underneath this boss or at least close to her, when she flew off to the left you could have ran underneath her, she wasn't 'outside' of the arena just on the very edge of it. Impressive speedrun none the less, but that was not RNG :P
Commentary great and your skill at the game i superb but man this glitched speed run is bul...t. I wonder where is the line where it is realy a speed run and where it is just bug/glitch-mania exploitation.
I said the same thing. Like how is this even a speed run? My question is though, How on earth do gamers find these game glitches, at those specific points????

Thanks so much! :) Very kind of you to say. Happy you enjoyed the run!

This was a pure pleasure to watch. Great commentary as well. Thank you.
Nice. Commentary was great
DanLearnsGaming Thank you!

This game is hard early on but once you figure out all the enemies and get some powerful DPS you are laughing.
great job!

Nice! Also great Commentary
Thanks Snoopy :)
I hate glitch runs but the superjumping was impressive, as well as learning about all the other glitches.
I got reckt by the first boss because he just hit chained me. Couldn't get up, was just stuck in the corner getting wailed on. It was pretty annoying.
Maybe a bit late but if you start as a pauper you get a weapon that when you hit him 3 times with it it kills him. Birian Firepot I think

aight nigga
Clip It or your just making shit up
Dagger + Shield. You can block all of The Tree of Men's attacks with the right shield. Reaching the men took some effort.
37 minutes well spent.

I realized that I didn't live half of the game, I'll be back again..
Awesome man, can't wait to see your actual live run. Will sub to the twitch, too. GDQ will love you - that is great commentary ! :D
KadiumTV Thank you very much :) I'm really excited about the run.
I am so bad at this game. I cant seem to parry at all either. I just got to the village of smiles and found a good sword
I cant run jump glitch. Was that removed from the game?
Been a while since I've played Salt and Sanctuary, so I'm not sure. Might also depend on platform. Your best bet would probably be to read available patch notes if you can find them.
i found the forgotten king by accident but i didnt even realize they were the three thats sick asf
SEEING THIS TODAY AFTER BEATING THE GAME YEARS AGO AND BRUH, SAME REACTION
This run proves that the witch is the toughest boss in the game! ;-) Still, I don't agree that the game is harder than DS. For me the witch was the only obstacle in the game!
I didn't have anywhere near as much trouble with this game as I had with Dark Souls.
The Forgotten Kings would've been a cool lore point for me, but I couldn't get past the fact that it was an almost blatant copy of Castlevania SOTN's fake Grant/Sypha/Trevor fight, which I preferred in lore much more.

I do the same as you, but the hero is removed and the game starts, what's the problem ?? PLSSS HELP!
You have to press the + or Start Button to leave the menue

@@Grimelios Thx dude. Your commentary is awesome.
The Third Lamb is a boss level higth? I cant pass it e.e
The game is just really hard in general. You can beat it if you keep trying and learn the boss's attack patterns.
keep trying i probably died like 10 times against him
Its really weird read this bc I beat it in my first try but some bosses that are considered easy took me a LOT of attempts to kill them Hahahaha
Good job

No problem! Good luck with your practice.
So you have chosen glitchless I see
bitch of the lake
Is it me or did he skip Mals Floating castle?
When he does that weird ladder glitch until he drops out of the sky directly into a boss fight, that's the end of the floating castle section.
good good good.

Speedruns use glitches and exploits. That's part of what makes them so cool. There are glitchless categories for many games if you prefer those.
You obviously don't know shit about speedruns so nobody cares about your worthless opinion.
I said the same thing. Like how is this even a speed run? My question is though, How on earth do gamers find these game glitches, at those specific points????
