I just bought a mavic mini like 3 weeks ago and not going to risk it with modifications like this but it is fun watching other people experimenting with their mavic minis
the top speed in drones is always 100% dependent on the max angle of tilt relative to gravity. And this is what is regulated by the firmware. And the motors do not get hot because of the extra voltage, but rather because the drone is working harder by carrying extra weight. They would also get hotter than usual when you're carrying the same weight regardless if it's batteries or not
Please continue the modification video's of the mavic mini and other drones! You should try to get a custom firmware on the mavic mini and remove the speed restrictions! Keep it up! Also i subscribed 👍👍👍💪💪💪
I am loving these mod videos. You make drone modding look easy (of course it is not easy at all). It would be great to see a 45min -1hr battery mod. :) One day it will happen perhaps.
Only way to do that is install bigger motor change the software on the drone and then add a bigger battery...ud have to really want to do it, to do it. It's more cheap and easy to buy a air 2 and mod thay battery instead. 35 to 40 on a mini 2 is max flight time that's all your gonna get with it being factory.

I have been using a Phantom 4 but wouldn't mind having the Mini 2. Just waiting to see if there will be a Mini 3. I think its so annoying that Drone manufacturers keep producing drone with 28, 32, or similar flights times. Deliberately I might add. As you show, it is possible to give a longer flight time. Wish they would give the crowd what they want.
Yeah! I do understand it from the viewpoint of they have to fool-proof their products. Maybe this flight time deters people to try crazy distance flight? I don´t know. I think they should continue with the same basic setups, BUT optionally make available higher capacity batteries. Proper genuine DJI tech stuff. IDK. I think many people would buy from DJI a fancy full top-of-the-line battery for quite some money. I mean if they really want the best... right? ahhh, just ignore me, I am just rambling... 😂😂😂😂

I was thinking about opening up the top cover over the drone to put the batteries closer to center gravity. A new ,used top cover is pretty cheap to replace if you want to return to stock. I was also considering drilling multiple holes on the entire body for weight reduction. If I could scan or aquire a 3d scan of the top cover, it could easily be possible to create a modified enclosed top cover for more or larger battery assemblies.
The top cover is just an outer shell. The part that limits your ability to install a larger battery like the 21700 is the cage in the fuselage. Watch a Mini / Mini 2 disassembly video to see what I'm talking about. For you to do that you'd have to scan the fuselage, 3D print a version of it with a revamped cage and then replace ALL the component the new body. Way too much work for very little gain. Especially since they sell larger batteries.

How about puttin one of the battery in the battery compartment and one on top ? That should lower the center of gravity improving the overall performance and weight balance
Yes, that is correct. I simply did not want to mess around with more and more cables. 🙂 And as I mention on the end. I do not recommend this mod as it strains the motors more. The way to go is extended capacity 2S battery and drone-hacks.com mod for higher top speed.

Interesting that it works. But I would have reservations about loading components above their specifications. These components do not have to fail immediately, but maybe at some point later. In addition, the Mini gets extraordinarily hot even with 2S.
Yes. That is why I say at the end that I DO NOT recommend this mod. The components of the ESC are rated easily for the 3S. The problem is the motors. They burn up after a while.
@@ZollyD Ok, so you checked the voltage ratings of capacitors, diodes and transistors. The motors are for a are the lesser problem for an experienced user. But electronic components are mean. They die without notice. Gladly when it is most unfavorable. The 2S Mod is very interesting.

I was chasing cars with my M2P and the wind behind me I couldn’t get over75km I think DJI drones must have a setting in it that won’t let you go any faster would that right…Great video 👍
Thanks! There is the software drone-hacks. In that one can set a lot of parameters of the drone. Also the tilt angle. Then the max speed can be changed. I did not go into it, as I am more interested in flight time extension.
Yes I did the same thing with a Mjx Bugs 3 years ago and got the same oscillation, but got expected performance increase. Of course it was a much more simple flight control system. Seemed like it increased the sensitivity of the feedback loop!. Just fyi

I am sure it would be greatly appreciated by the drone community if you could find a way to either save or bypass the batteries for the Autel X Star. They are almost impossible to find and we need to fly.

I though that bms will throw a code if you unplugged the batteries from it. idk but iirc that was the main problem people where having when trying to mod the factory pack in favor of some bigger cells
Could I please put a video of Mavic Air Mod. It looks so complicated, as a LiPo battery would have to fit below and be practically the size of the current one so as not to plug the sensors, I'm already watching so many videos and it only fails so far.
I think 5000mAh could work. Yeah the Li-ion goes easyly to 2.5V but it is a risky business a bit. I tried the Mini2 with 2S Li-ion and when it went to around 5V the ESC turned off and the drone dropped. It was indoors and on the carpet so no problemo, but it turned into a rock and fell... 😂😂😂
Since you already done some modifications to the drone, can you try out something like using mini 2 esc board and motors on mini one flight controller.. I have a drone but I'm currently studying therefore can't afford a drone to do some hacking... I would be much appreciated if you able to try that out. If the communication between esc and the flight controller is different between mini 1 and mini 2, it won't work.
Hi. I haven't done those experiments, but I have a friend who did, and the 2 ESC's are not compatible per his findings. They do not work with the other's flight controller. The motors are however interchangeable. I hope this is the info you are looking for!😊

thanks for the reply, I saw your video tutorial and I tried to do it but it didn't work I used awt battery 3000mah 40a 2s direct to battery connection not on the board, it was parallel to the lipo battery but it didn't work .. and then power up the drone after 15 sec low voltage.. i guess my drone is not for this 😁

🇷🇺👋😁👍 the tilt angle of the drone affects the flight speed. to increase the flight speed, you need to change the values of the flight angle in the drone engineering menu there is a program for this and by connecting to a computer, you can change the settings of the drone. I changed the settings on my Mavic mini and now it flies like a rocket, I also changed the descent speed of the drone and now it descends very quickly like a stone and saves battery power with your three cell battery and a different flight angle, your drone will fly faster

I put an Insta360 on the top of a Mavic Air2 and it oscillated. When I hung it underneath it was ok👍

Switcing to a fpv 3 blade prop with higher pitch would increse the speed but reduce flight time.

You have a low weight on the drone, that’s why it’s shaking. Add more capacity on 3S and it’ll work

21700 was what I wanted to see. If mini is low drain could prob do one the 5000mah or 4500mah. Hate that it force lands at 3v. Li-ion can go to 2.5v.
