- My first proper video in Unreal Engine 4! This video is meant to show off the models I made in action and what you can expect in future videos.
This took a little bit longer than I expected and it has some glitches here and there but it would take even longer if I tried to fix them. These are similar to the victory animations you would see in games like Mortal Kombat or Injustice or even in smash ultimate!
I have gotten used to unreal and this is the result of putting everything I learned into practice.

This isn’t just really well done, but the scenes fit the characters and the humor of the Mario universe as a whole. Absolutely incredible!

I'm just happy this animator realized the cartoony vibes should be a staple and not too much hyper realism.
Man.....Peach and Daisy looks so amazing, this shows that, a more ""realistic"" Mario graphics would work 100%
Thing is they are still cartoony but the small details like textures, clothing, shading, lighting and all thay is realistic. So it can work but some peeps have the wrong idea of what does it mean to be realistic.

I love Peach’s design. She feels like she’s full of life and animated rather than just smiling and waving and occasionally yelling the same “Mario!” scream clip from the early 2000s.
God that voice clip is so annoying. It has lost its meaning because of how much it's been used.

Peach is so much more alive with proper expressions and the alterations made to her face. I like it, she's gone from an anti-social, pale looking older woman to a youthful, cute, spry, looking younger woman as she should be.

OK, I get what you mean, but Peach is a PRINCESS. And most of the time, they have to keep up their appearance, so extreme emotion isn't appropriate. But I get it, I mean, It works for Daisy just fine.

They don't actually sue anyone. Too much hassle. They just use the DMCA to evoke copyright claims and take the content down. Most don't try contesting because it'd mean arguing your case against Nintendo's team of lawyers.
As for who they aim for? They tend to leave fan projects alone unless they're releasing something similar to the project. For example, a mario-maker style game was left to frolic for quite some time, then got shot down out of the blue a few months before Mario Maker was announced.

I love this man this is animated beautifully and as a mortal kombat fan, a smash fan, and a person who likes new ideas for fighting games and crossovers I can say this feels right foe the characters. I look forward to any future work you do for other characters in other franchises.
The title was changed some time ago- back when it was released it was called something along the lines of “Mario animation tests” - not sure the exact name

The models, especially regarding the hair, look so real. I get it, it’s part of the animation style, and Nintendo probably doesn’t need to animate each strand of hair in photo-realistic resolution, even though they probably could if they wanted. It’s just refreshing seeing the hair not look like a plastic LEGO mini figure hair piece.

Speaking of realistic hair, I wish Nintendo would adopt the more realistic dress design she has in Super Smash Bros. It looks so much better than the pink blob that is her default dress.

Yes the redesign of Peach is better than ever before! This is how she should look like!
*Design: 9/10* Textures are on point, from Yoshi's tongue to the hems of Peach's dress. Only complaint is Luigi's model, which has great textures but not exactly proportionate with his head (compare with the Luigi's Mansion 3 model of Luigi). Still, this is only very minor.
*Animation: 8/10* Superb character movement. Very fluid and didn't feel like there was stagnation. Camera angles are great, but some timing felt a little off, such as Yoshi's demo feeling a little too quick that I couldn't keep up as smoothly. Clipping issues also exist with Daisy's dress.
*Presentation: 10/10* Felt like what a Mario Bros. universe should feel like: bouncy, colorful, fun. Each character was doing something that expressed their character traits. Mario was safe and familiar; Luigi a scaredy cat; Peach a curious, posh, and friendly princess; Daisy a wild card; and Yoshi was just being Yoshi.
*Overall: 9/10* Incredible. Still found some issues, particularly with the animation, but a great demo that shows your incredible skills. Hope to see what's next in your videos.
Cory G. Honestly, I don’t get what you’re talking about with Luigi’s model. This looks perfect to me...
Unless you can give me a few more details, I’m scoring *Design: 10/10*
@@miguelpescado Just do a side by side comparison of the model from Smash Bros or Luigi's Mansion 3 to NDY's model and you will see that there is minor variations (emphasis on minor). For example, in the recent games his scared expression usually has that "comedic lip extension" (such as in 0:42), the chin is slightly longer (more oblong, whereas NDY's is more round as seen in 0:59). The nose (from the front view) is also not entirely round, but rather (for lack of better terms) an "inflated square-ish shape", being more rounded at the bottom and more flattened in between the eyes. The eyes are just a smidge longer at the top.
Don't see what I mean? Take a look at 1:00 and this image of a screenshot from Luigi's Mansion 3: i.ytimg.com/vi/jRlK9Dz3Eqs/maxresdefault.jpg
They are both similar expressions, but look at the slight differences in structure.
Now, you can definitely tell just by looking at NDY's model that it's definitely Luigi, but it's just his head is a bit different from canon. I know that it must be very hard to recreate any model from scratch, and while I applaud NDY's attempts, It's inevitable that he won't get it on the nose in every little detail.
Miguel Mercado luigis design was the best to me.
@Max fast Lightning power awesome It's 10x better than almost any attempt I've seen on UA-cam, I'll give it that. But looking at it from an animator's point of view (no, I'm nowhere near a professional or an animator myself, I just like to study it as a hobby) I can't help but notice some animation issues once you play it frame by frame. That's mostly why I gave it a 9/10 overall. To the general public's eye, yes it seems perfect, but one just needs to play it at 0.25x speed and look closely to see some animation issues, particularly clipping. But overall, as I've stated, it's an incredible demo.
@Mike Oxmall Well, he's doing perhaps the best I've seen out of everyone given with what he has. Remember that he's basically reconstructing these models almost entirely from SCRATCH. That's an accomplishment in and of itself.
Just imagine Smash Bros having these kinds of victory screens. That'd be sick!
If only the next Mario game can have those graphics.

I don't want to be greedy and ask for more, but seeing the remaining mainstay Mario cast in this style would be a treat.
This just inspired me to do the same thing but with the whole Smash Ultimate roster (including the DLC).
Mega Man puts a hand on the opponent to copy their power and the scene ends on his beam-of-light teleport.
Dark Samus grabs the opponent, holds them offscreen by one hand and pumps them full of Phazon.
Pokémon Trainer calls their Pokémon to pitch a tent, and the scene ends on Charizard lighting a stove.
Captain Falcon pulls out a digital bounty list, marks off the opponent and hops in the Blue Falcon, speeding off.
Mewtwo telekinetically lifts the opponent, smashes them to the ground with it’s tail and warps off with the defeated foe.
R.O.B. assembles it’s tops and holder and begins spinning them as the screen gains a CRT filter to it.
Duck Hunt tosses clay pigeons with the duck sprites on them, the shooter misses one as they come down and the dog does the trademark laugh.
Jigglypuff starts showboating, realizes the opponent is out cold and pulls out a marker to draw on them.
Marth and other FE characters assemble their forces and begin giving orders, ending with a team gesture.
Sonic does some acrobatic backflips and cartwheels, wags his finger and dashes off in the camera’s direction.
Ryu meditates, dispels his Hado and takes up his bag, seeking another challenge.
Snake looks around as if searching for enemies who noticed his brawl, and sneaks off to board a helicopter.
Just a few ideas for scenes.
Nintendo should hire this man!

Oh mu god. I was blown away. I love the detail on every single little thing it's incredible! This animation is better that some theatrical movies, and definitely better than most 3D shows! Please take all the time you need to make these pieces of art, and keep up the amazing work!
Peach's showcase had reminded me the "The Gigantic Turnip", the very old Russian tale where a huge turnip was grown, and then grandfather and all his family joined one by one to pull it, even pets: dog, cat, and then once mouse joined to help, the turnip was been finally taken. Peach had to pull it in solo, perfect! :D

I love the small design details on each character, but the most impressive thing about it all is that they’re all made from scratch! Absolutely love it, keep doing what you do!
The animation and details look really really good, also I noticed that Daisy has some freckles, that just makes her even more cute. ☺❤❤❤❤

This is perfect. Too perfect, in fact. Peach was my favorite, her scream is cute. I busted out laughing seeing yoshi eating a goomba one second, then dumping out an egg the next, just to throw it in the air lol
