      Astral Chain 2 is probably being made as we speak. in a Bayonetta 3 trailer, they put the dog mascot for a few seconds. I got baited hard because I was more hyped for Astral Chain 2 than bayo 3 but ...I'm sure it was to let us know they're doing something with it.

    Magical Starsign! That was a hidden gem back during my DS days. Always chose the dark powers. Probably because of my emo phase.
    The Valkyria Chronicles was perfection during its first inception. But then the devs lost their way, creating one spinoff after spinoff. Even becoming a dating sim for one
    before they finally came back to their roots.
    I never had a chance to play the Xenoblade series. Only came at 3 when I got it from a friend. I fell in love with the characters, especially Eunie. She was just such
    a darling, that you can't help but adore. Even with her foul mouth.

    9:52 - Just a warning about anyone interested in Relayer: the publisher, Red Art Games, is a small time company in France who sell their games online, so you're not likely to find this out in the wild. Most eBay listings of this game were for brand new copies from sellers in the US or France (mostly the latter).

    I thought Star Ocean: The Second Story just wasn't my game, then I played almost straight through to the end last week and now consider it a certified classic. I had to learn that a) skills were useful in combat and gave you beneficial RNG triggered effects b) if you are playing melee you have to give them a more ranged special as well as a high damage close-up special. Alas, I got stuck at the end boss because I missed the Easter egg earlier in the game that makes him fair.

    • @valkrieknights
      @valkrieknights Рік тому +2

      It's been about 5+ years since I last played it, but if you're talking about the limiter remover side-quest that opens up the secret dungeon, that actually makes him harder. I don't remember there being something that made him easier. But then again, maybe I just missed it too lol

    • @jayrobitaille2402
      @jayrobitaille2402 Рік тому +2

      @@valkrieknights After having trouble with the boss being busted in the second half of the fight, I consulted a walkthrough and found that I should have done more "Private Actions" as those are for fun and bonuses in SC1 but much more crucial in SC2 as they deliberately made the game more for hardcore players (that like to explore everywhere, find everything and basically turn over every stone in a game). It is just like Suikoden for players who have to get all 108 characters as opposed to myself who are happy with about half from just a streamlined run through the story.

    • @jayrobitaille2402
      @jayrobitaille2402 Рік тому

      @@Blernster The crafting is just RNG that you can adjust more in your favour with Skill Points. The Skill system reminds me of D&D where depending on your DM, you may be using more skills outside of combat and depending on your characters stats and specializations, you have a better or worse chance of success.

    • @valkrieknights
      @valkrieknights Рік тому

      @@jayrobitaille2402 I suppose we're the same in that regard. While I would love to recruit every character in the suikoden games, it's just too easy to miss some and they're mostly just for fun anyway. While I do enjoy the private actions quite a bit, I also did not see the need to go out of my way to do them.

    From day one I thought Digimon seemed terribly derivative of Pokemon, but over time it began to set itself apart by having more in-depth/darker stories. The Dark Masters arc of Adventure 1 was what caught my young self's attention; a stretch where our heroes are facing a group of memorable new enemies so powerful that some of them want to just give up the fight or blame their leader.

Still a ridiculous amount to do in it though. Only got about half the depths mapped out and a ton of side quests and the last bit of the main to do. am a fan of digimon anime franchise but i never liked the games aside from Cyber Sleuth, Survive though, that was really good, especially considering it did something Pokemon never did (or will ever do), there is a story, characters and they can and will die depending on which route you take which leads to different endings.
    NGL i also like a lot of Compile Heart games and i must say Death End Re-quest took it to a whole new level. Heck Neptunia series is good too, weird and funny, but good.
    Also am not sure if it was recommended before but you should really try the Trails series, that is the best JRPG series i have ever played starting from Trails in the Sky Trilogy to Zero and most recent Azure and finally Cold Steel 1-4 with Reverie coming soon.
    Oh Scralet Nexus is also a really good game to try out.

    I’m just tired of them using fan service as a crutch in rpgs. Xenoblade 2 and Ryza being two examples. If they think it won’t go well then they do a bunch of fan service. Then if it works out they give us games that we should have gotten. The drastic change from xbc2 to xbc3 makes you think none of the same people were involved in the game and they shouldn’t be the same series. It’s pathetic and they should be called out for it. Just make good games and stop rely on fan service when unsure.

    Digimon Survive was so good. Was it what I expected? No, but it was still amazing.
    Unlike most others I wasn't even expecting anything crazy. I was thinking it would be more like Devil Survivor. While it was different in how it went about things, I wasn't actually all that far off. I would have wanted it more like Devil Survivor but what it was was great.
    It's rare for me to go through a game that quickly. It's even more rare for me to go through every story the game has back to back to back. I just blew through everything in that game in one go. For reference, I only did one playthrough of Three Houses and Ys Origin. Yet I did everything in Digimon Survive. So I have three (four including the DLC?) playthroughs of Three Houses to go and two more of Ys Origin.

    Two things that i disagree in this list.
    1- Astral Chain is not a JRPG. It's a action/hack slash with RPG elements and a heavy inspiration from anime (the gameplay resembles a lot Chaos Legion, a PS2 game published by Capcom). RPG elements are present in almost every game today, having skill trees is not enough to call a game a RPG. Just because a game has anime-like vibes and progression system, doesn't make it a JRPG.
    2- Digimon is not a pokémon clone. The two franchises were launched almost at the same time with completely different niches. Pokémon never truly changed, it was a monster capture/taming game from start; Digimon started as a virtual pet/tamagotchi brand. Totally different ways of distribution, playing and audience.

      @@maroXUprising I actually got all the rare blades. The funny thing is that I got the last 2 by using rare crystals. I bond with rare crystals then release the common blades to get boosters to use with legendary crystals. And repeat. Somehow, it was the rare crystals that got me the last 2 rare blades.
      Anyway, I don't think I'm going to do the new game+. Knowing myself, if I start, I'm going to have to finish it. That could be another 150 extra hours. I don't think I have the energy for that.

    About Digimon, while I'm not saying anything about your lack of interest in the series; that's absolutely fine, of course, even as a fan of primarily Pokemon, though I'd always wanted to get into Digimon, as well; I'm just here to correct you on something. It's really not a Pokemon clone at all; much more of a Tamagotchi clone; far more of a virtual pet than any Pokemon game. If the name makes it seem like a clone, that's simply because Japan loves to portmanteau words; in this case, "pocket" and "monster" for Pokemon and "Digital" and "monster" for Digimon.
    While it does have a lot of cute creatures that change form just like Pokemon, it's more about the particular way you raise your single Digimon to evolve it and usually about it dying and reincarnating in order to become the different Digimon rather than just catching an entire team. Digimon World 1, Re:Digitize/Decode, and Next Order are far more along their tradition than the likes of Digimon Cyber Sleuth I know of. And since one does usually have only 1 Digimon, or, rarely, 2, Survive and the various seasons of the anime are more like their usual, as well.
    Heck, Shin Megami Tensei is more of a "Pokemon clone" than Digimon is, with how you negotiate with the demons in the middle of battle to, usually, try to get them on your side and how you usually have an entire team of them!

      Honestly, "X clone" and "X like" really just need to be removed from the gamer/reviewer lexicon because 9 out of 10 times the comparison is completely wrong, or technically accurate but extremely reductive. It shows a very shallow level of analysis.

      Pokemon is SMT clone (precisely Last Bible 3), not SMT is Pokemon clone. First Megami Tensei game was released in 1987 on Famicom, when first Pokemon was released in 1996. Digimon is clone of first two Devil Summoner games (spin-off SMT).

    Valkyria Chronicles is such a cheating franchise with such weird design decisions, but the first one still stands as a great game because of the story.
