I saw Toby in a little bar just outside Beaumont Texas, there was only 6 people there he started to play on stage and he stopped, he said he could not do this, he sent his band home , brought a bar stool off the stage and placed it in the middle of the dance floor, then played his music solo with his guitar, thats one of the coolest guys I ever met, my hats off to you brother!

There was a point where one of his club partners quit to help manage Toby and go out on the road with him. Freddie Cortez died of stomach cancer a few years before Toby was diagnosed. I always have red solo cups on hand and will always think of Toby when I glance at one. My husband will be 90 on his next birthday and we both relate to the “Don’t Let the Old Man In” lyrics. Music lives forever. Toby was an avid Sooner Nation fan. I hope you knew how much we loved you here in Oklahoma. We were so proud of you and when you were diagnosed with cancer our hearts hurt for you and your family. You were taken too soon and one day our tears will be replaced with smiles when we are singing along with you. God Bless ❤
