      After Bd3 play c5 with the point of meeting Bxe4 with Qh4+ fork, if dxc5 then Bxc5 is already much better for black, if Qe2 Qb6. Which means cxd4 is coming no matter what. Put the knights on f6 and c6 and Be7 then try to exchange one of the white bishops with your knights before castling to breathe easier.

    I'm not sure this is a compliment, but I can almost always see the right move when you pause. Either you're asking pretty simple questions, or I've come a long way from the days when a former rated chess player gave me a dusty cardboard box full of old paperback chess books. It used to drive me crazy when the authors casually made moves as a matter of course, as though they were so obvious as to need no explanation.

    • @georgebruh8325
      @georgebruh8325 8 днів тому +2

      I also saw both moves i am only 1500 elo, on the first one i even chose the stockfish move, but then again finding brilliant sacrifices is a lot easier when the video pauses and tells you to look for one, no way I would be playing that in a real game I am just trying to survive and maybe snatch a pawn here and there lol

    Rxe5 at the end is brilliant, but maybe worth mentioning that Black could reply with g6. The best reply I have seen then is Rxe7 gxh5 Rd1-d7, and that battery of White rooks on the 7th rank together with his minor pieces should be a deadly problem for Black.

    As a regular French player this should come with a warning for White - don't try to follow the same line if Black plays c5 after Bd3 (timestamp 0.59). If you capture my 'free' knight, Qh4+ WILL unstitch you.

    • @faznaz7455
      @faznaz7455 8 днів тому

      Yeah this is how i usually deal with this gambit as well. It’s still tricky even then because you should be careful of castling too quickly, so developing the knights then trying to exchange one of the bishops is the solution.

    • @toothlessrpm6177

    6:02 Got i! (But since when is a brilliant move not the best move?)
    I got it because I knew about Popiel--Marco, Monte Carlo, 1902, where Black resigned instead of playing ... Bg1 and winning.
    8:08 No, it's the ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOK! (And I got this one, too.)

    • @faznaz7455
      @faznaz7455 8 днів тому

      Actually it’s not really. There’s only 1 detail here that you have to remember, the rest is very intuitive. After Bd3 is played you can play c5 because if Bxe4 there’s Qh4+ to pick up the piece back. Which means cxd4 is coming regardless with easy development.

    Alapin... was there anything he couldn't do??

  • @williamsquires3070
    @williamsquires3070 9 днів тому

    Weird. I looked at both 1 Bb5 (doesn’t work, 1 … Ke7 letting the rook out which stops both the mate threat and 2 Rd8) and 1 Bg6 (same problem, black simply responds with 1 … Ke7.) Then black wants to move Bd7 letting the other rook out and controlling the a4-e8 diagonal. I didn’t see Qe7 but I think black is better off with the king on e7 as it lets the rook on h8 out to play. After … Bd7, black can bring the other rook to d8 and white’s chances of a back-rank mate evaporate like a snowman in he**.

    • @chess26622
      @chess26622 7 днів тому

      The problem with your idea with Ke7, and so on, is that in chess every player got one move, and they move after each other, so white won't stand there and wait until you develop all your pieces, and only then make their move. The position is in white's favor, and that says the strongest engine of the whole world

    • @chess26622
      @chess26622 7 днів тому

      Also after your move Ke7 the move Nd4+ simply wins your queen.
      Nd4 exd4
      Rhe1+ if you move your king, it's simply checkmate, if you don't sack your queen.
      For example: Kd8
      Rxd5 and black must cover the check with their queen, otherwise they get checkmated. The rest I think is not that hard to figure out

    • @chess26622
      @chess26622 7 днів тому

      So you simply don't get time to develop all your pieces quickly, and get away with it
