We run legit miles in our shoes and provide honest, no BS reviews of running shoes, running gear, and running races.
Thomas, you should preface your reviews with 'May cause financial ruin' You're really making me wanna buy a $275 shoe I didn't know I needed 😊
THIS!!! Found it!!! Feels like the NB supercomp OG!!
Took me 20 miles to place it… and no I won’t use it for race day ever. But it’s a treat for long runs!
Cielo X1 is really great for any road run. Not sure they'd be my #1 for a PR attempt but I'd trust them for any race and any distance otherwise. My favorite shoe of all time.
Which shoe for a PR?
I find my self gravitating towards the Cielo more and more often, and is my top choice for long runs and workouts. Unbelievable bounce and I’m recovering faster with the extra protection underfoot. My race pick is still the Alphafly 3, but this is an excellent training partner.
Hey, I am a heel striker, and I am looking to change my daily running shoe. Do you think that the Endorphin Pro 4 or Cielo X1 or Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris could work? I use my AP3 as daily trainer, but I've started to do longer runs and I have some pains in my left fibula since so, that's why I am trying to find something with more stability.
They save my calfs and Achilles tendon. Even did a PB on a 10K. After first long run my hips hurt.. But from my second run no pains anywhere. I run long runs in the morning and it's the only shoe that in some afternoon I can't remember if I run in the morning.. Legs just fresh.
Have you tried new balance fuel cell supercomp v1’s ?
I love the Mach X2!! Great daily trainer!! But let me tell you, when you throw on the Cielo X1 it's like a Ferrari for your feet!! That spring and rocker are something else!!!
I love the laces. Gives amazing lock down. ❤
They get a lot of hate, but they don’t move. It just feels wonky when you tie them. I can’t say I hate them.
I love this shoe, $297.13 after taxes from Hoka for me…. And I still think they were worth it.
A “super shoe” that can do short/long/recovery run! That’s incredible… you pay more or similar for other “super shoes” and they are limited to one use case.
The weight in V2 should go down, although I don’t have any issues with that or the laces. Once you tie the shoe the laces never give you an issue again, they are different but that’s it.
Shoe of the year so far for me, and what the NB SC Elite V4 should have been…because I love the look of that shoe soooo much more. But it doesn’t do what the Cielo does for its own $265.xx price tag.
One of my favourites of this year! Love the rocker
love this shoe. put about 70 miles in so far. still fresh. 200+ runner here.
Huge fan of this shoe too, picked it up and ran a PB in my half marathon last weekend. Legs felt fresh throughout and after. Expensive but worth it
you guys should collab with Yowana if you need a guy who does mileage! haha thanks for the great content as always
My Prime X Strung V1 is still my all time favourite.
I always pick Cielo for long run. Very fun to run with. Stable. Safe my feet. ❤
this is crazy for a race day shoe, usually they fall apart like the vaporfly 3 around 30 miles. hoka really has stepped their game up, this and the skyward x are up there for shoes of the year.
I’m loving mine, a unique and fun shoe for sure! A possible marathon shoe for me.
Thank you. This was a mystery shoe for me. Comparing it to the Superblast answered my questions. I still might get this one, not for racing but for training at threshold pace workouts or just long steady runs if they feel good for that.
I use these for my race and train in the superblast. On my third pair of supers now. They are way bouncier and more fun than the superblast. Still love the supers, but these are next level fun to run in.
@@gregdarden726 I guess we are all a bit spoiled. Five years ago these would be considered super super futuristic race shoes.
thanks for being honest, Thomas... yeah, not a race day shoe for me, Rocket X2 remained untouchable for now
I absolutely LOVE these shoes, its taking everything not to use them on every run.
Price is certainly and issue, but just picked up a pair as my local retailer offered a 20% discount on the X1. The discount put the shoe in the range of some supper trainers. Love the shoe and really look forward to putting them on. Laces not an issue for me. Glad I broke down an purchased the X1.
I mean if this can get up to 300-400 miles without the midsole completely dying then it might be the first race day shoe worth $ because of how many races you can squeeze out of them vs something like a vapor fly
I really want to pick this shoe up but I want to know how it compares to the Hoka Skyward X. Been hyped for that shoe but I am wondering if it's the Cielo 1x I actually want now.
Looks like the Skyward X has a (supercritical) EVA midsole, so is heavier and likely will likely not have as much energy return. Still looks an interesting shoe though!
yea i am going to hold on till the superblast 2
With the super blasts I found it made my legs more sore the slower I got throughout the run, is it an issue with this one?
Ran a half marathon PR in them 2 weeks ago and running a marathon, aiming for a sub 3 attempt in 2 weeks. Yes they are heavier compared to the metaspeeds or vaporfly. But the comfort level is next level. And to be honest, once I got to mile 8/9, that extra weight is negligible.
Did you ever do the marathon?
@@ikpenda sure did and my first DNF . Got 21 miles in on track for sub3 but started to throw up and had to call it a day. The shoes though were great! Very comfortable and fast. They did get a little warm compared to other shoes so may not be a good hot summer marathon shoe but overall highly recommend
Hey! I bought them for my first half marathon on November. I already had my first run with them and at first they felt a little bit heavy. Maybe the still need to break in. Do you recommend the Cielo X1 for a half marathon?
I have over 350 miles on these.... best 275.00 I've ever spent....they are still going strong......I've also raced in them.......
Need to do a between two shoes: Skyward X versus Cielo X1; if both pretty much inhabit the super trainer category
I’m still deciding if I should get Cielo or the Alphafly 3 dropping next week.
One of the best ever for me 👌🏻
Adidas Prime X Strung or Hoka Cielo X1 ?
talking about v1 of the Prime X Srung btw ;-)
I love both, and are probably my 2 favourite shoes right now! Both shoes I find myself wanting to wear very often! Cielo is softer/cushier feeling but both have superb energy return and are very leg saving! If you can still pick up Prime X Strung V1 they'll probably represent better value tbh but yeah but both haha
@@RichyWilson78 I currently have about 350 miles in my prime x strung (v1) and they don't feel worn out yet... one of my favorite shoes to run in. Bought a 2nd pair just before v2 came out... but the Hoka Cielo x1 has me curious....
I know it’s impossible with the amount of shoes you all test, but it would be cool to see just how much
you could get out of these or the Superblast before they give out.
1) These Thomas solo reviews are really good, whether it's this one or giving Brooks a Dutch uncle talk about the Hyperion Elite. 2) Cielo X1 is too rich for me but I had the same thought about this shoe: this could be a great competitor to supermax shoes like the PrimeX, Superblast, or SC Trainer.
When are Nike Zoom Fly 6 dropping? They look interesting as they resemble AF-3
I have flat feet and a wide foot would they fit me? Do they provide any stability?
Not stable
Not stable but works for flat/wide feet.
These sound like the OG Prime X/Prime X Strung V1 for me. I was able to buy those for $150/pair. Still don't think this is a marathon race shoe, just too heavy compared to other shoes for that distance. An ounce or more is a ton of weight when you get far into the miles and are trying to turn the legs over.
I’m planning on racing in this shoe. Should I save the mileage for race day or is it fine putting some miles on it?
Like to Thomas. Good job. Cheers.
Recommended replacement laces?
Any recommendation on how to lace the cielo x1? It always loosen up every 5 mins
Shit lacing 🤷🏻♂️
What makes a race day shoe different. If someone is running a 9minute mile they could be racing in there category???
Sounds like how I use the Superblast
Does the upper break in or adjust to your foot? Mine is okay in length but a bit snug on the sides
I didn’t really notice 🤷🏻♂️
Does anyone use inserts for their shoes?
My dad does, but I have not used any in years
Would those sneakers be good for all day walking? I’m a nurse and I need a shoe that’s super comfortable. I saw that on tik tok and I like how it looks. Would you recommend that for walking? I’d also be using it when I travel.
No. Not for walking
How does it compare to the Superblast? Because that is my favorite shoe of all time for daily work!
More bounce, but heavier
Because you are worth it ❤
Would any Peba die at only 100 miles though?
I have an 8 minute race pace goal and these are perfect for that. Faster, and I think Thomas is right, you want another lighter shoe. I have already ran a practice half in them and they are amazing. I have to stop myself from running in them every long run I get. As a heavier runner, 190 lbs, I feel I really get my monies worth from that plate and foam in the rebound. Love this shoe. Also, I have grown to not hate the laces even though I really wanted to.
okay.., so one for us heavier guys.. nice
I would love to try them, but 275 is a bit overpriced I think. For that price most people would probably go Nike, Asics, Adidas. And as a supertrainer I would take the Superblast. 275 is just too much.
It’s a different feeling for sure. This is definitely a racer, just on the heavier side. Their durability is worth the price as they take more pounding than regular racers. But i can somewhat agree with shoes like the alphafly
Alpahafly is 300€ and it's an ugly shoe. Prices are really ridicilous.
@@justoutlaw6423 275-300 same price range. Esthetics should not be important.
I want the Cielo X1B -- this shoe but a couple of ounces lighter, maybe more breathability in the upper, and better laces. It seems like it's nearly perfect.
My heart goes out to Baltimore today and everyone involved in the bridge collapse. ❤
Thomas we know you have the next prototype already!
Stay strong Baltimore community!
Sold 😅
I'm 68 years old & I do hill repeats 4 times a week. I don't jog or run 10-minute miles. What lightweight forward-moving shoe would you recommend? I''m 5'7 150 lbs.
First, love to see that you’re kicking ass. I’d look for a rockered shoe like most of the hoka offerings. Also check out the new balance more v4 or the ASICS superblast. Both are easy on the legs and joints.
Oh! The Hoka skyward X
Great shoe and small asterisk that I'm a trail runner, but the Cielo X1 is awful on wet pavement. Keep the powder dry on this one for wet conditions.
true size or not?
TTS
Looks like a very good IM shoe...
Hope you’re all safe following the tragedy in Baltimore. Prayers to the families involved.
My wife will divorce me if I buy another $200 plus shoes…. Lol But I keep thinking of this one on my head… for daily long runs…specifically coming from Thomas… I might pull it off.. 🤞🏾
Love at first sight?
Not the super shoes that we want. It's the super shoes that we deserved
Man the super shoes keep getting higher and higher in price 😢
So it's basically a SC trainer V1 replacement (because let's be honest, V2 simply doesn't come close)
SC trainer V2 is terrible.
@@i.p2088I love the SC Trainer v2. I run in them every other day. They work so well for me.
RIP 🪦 Nike🤪💀
Daily trainer for $275 😂
Got love it how removed from reality are freebie shoe tubers are 😅😅😅
We review the experience of running in the shoe, not the price. There is space on UA-cam for someone to start a channel “is this shoe too expensive?” Maybe we will put out a video on the topic. From the feedback, anything over $150 will be too much.
