After review of the footage, 741 definitely placed the square down at least part of the time (seen around 13:55) but on that occasion she did in fact enter the elevator. 954 also had the square and placed it down some of the times and would often stand right outside of the elevator rather than actually enter it. A possible reason it didn't work at 15:07 when he escorted 741, was because 078 (bright red hair) placed down the square and then walked away. Although, she may have been beaten to it by 084, who did enter the elevator. At around 16:00, this one was difficult to tell why it didn't work because the identity of the heart placer was unverifiable. Either 331 (who did enter the elevator) or 401 (who didn't enter the elevator), placed the heart. It could have also possibly failed because marty, who didn't place the relic, entered the elevator.

A lightyear is a distance not an amount of time but I agree with you. I found it quite hard to watch with how long the pauses were.
