Drivers should not have to sit there trying to estimate where the 20 foot line is, from inside a car or SUV, while other drivers are waiting for you to hurry up. And what if you guess wrong and it turns out to be 19.5 feet? You get a ticket? And what if you did estimate correctly and it was 20 feet, but a cop makes a mistake and thinks you parked 19.5 feet from the curb and gives you a ticket? Do you pull out a tape measure? How does this hold up if you decide to go to court over it? This is ripe for abuse. The California legislature wants to create a law, fine. But then the California legislature should make the law actually functional.
This is a non issue. San Diego does not enforce parking. There are hundreds of cars parked illegally on sidewalks around Clairemont but the city deliberately refuses to enforce state law or city municipal code. They just don’t. We have tried to get “Dr” Jen Campbell to get our legal pedestrian sidewalk back but she refuses. So don’t worry about parking near a crosswalk. You likely will not get cited.

If the bus routes ran 24/7 I would be okay taking the bus. But no, last bus is 11:00 p.m. That doesn't work from my job.

The California legislature wants to create a law, fine. But then the California legislature should make the law actually functional.

This is a non issue. San Diego does not enforce parking. There are hundreds of cars parked illegally on sidewalks around Clairemont but the city deliberately refuses to enforce state law or city municipal code. They just don’t. We have tried to get “Dr” Jen Campbell to get our legal pedestrian sidewalk back but she refuses. So don’t worry about parking near a crosswalk. You likely will not get cited.

@ Go drive on Idlewild way, Jemez and several other streets on both sides of Clairemont Mesa. It is a huge problem that the city refuses to deal with. See for yourself. Or use opendsd and click on the map. You will see dozens of entries.
Want change? Get rid of the legislators who put this law into effect! Stop voting for fools or it will only get worse.

Why not change rules for bicyclist they love causing accidents and new dumb bicycle lanes and they don't use them as much

Does a crosswalk have to be painted or is it every intersection with a sidewalk? Or does there not even have to be sidewalk, simply an intersection?
