Great video! Doing metal ductwork is slow, brain-intensive work, but it's rewarding when it looks nice at the end. Definitely wear gloves if you're giving this a whirl. I admit to going barehanded more often than not, but you're always just a slip away from getting a nasty cut if you don't have gloves. My last cut almost needed stiches, and probably should've had them if I wasn't such a hardheaded dope.
Running the fan continuously does a much better job cleaning the air as well as balancing the temperature from room to room. Much easier on the motor as well.
wow! i literally just saw a post not hours ago on the FB hvac group asking if a 4" can be put in to replace the 1". so many replies saying hire a professional or no, it'll cause air restriction.
Having just been troubleshooting a family members furnace, I've always wondered how much restriction those AC evaporators put on the system especially as an add in.
My filter goes into my return grille in my living space.. I buy the filter from filterbuy that is made to fit a 1inch depth grille but the filter is 4 inches thick. So much easier since my furnace is In my crawlspace.
How would you add a 4 inch filter to an airhandler in the attic in horizontal configuration? My set up fs 18 inch flex from air handler to 1 inch return grill. No room for nothing up there.. 3 ton rheem handler and bosch IDS condenser unit..
You kinda remind me of my dads telling me stuff when I was 12. It was or is interesting but too high level at that Or this point. But at least I can apprieaite him trying to teach me back then differently. I hadn’t seen this in that way so I have to thanks to you and him on this day I should do that.
all I can say to you is the unit needs to be outside. It takes the out side air to heat your home and takes the air from inside to the outside when you are cooling the home it wouldn't work if you put it inside. hope that helps.
not really, except heat rises. if you are trying to cool your house you are simultaneously heating your basement. if heating your house, this would probably work quite well, but your basement will get really cold and with no insulation between the basement and the 1st floor the temperature difference will certainly have an effect on the COP. and it's probably beneficial under certain circumstances but i think it would have to be very cold outside for it to be, and if it's that cold you best be digging for ground loops >5ft or get some natural gas.
And that’s why you have the option to hire someone. Now for those like myself, being a skilled tradesman. These videos are priceless. Most people couldn’t be bothered to show you how to do their job.
Great guide on upgrading your HVAC filter! This simple change will definitely improve air quality and efficiency.
Good video. The large surface area is why it can work.
Keep up the fine work mister. Thanks again. Tin work is an art I’ve yet to master.

Cool trick adding the offset after transferring square measurements.
Awesome! This means you can now have HEPA filters

Never seen that done…. Nice job!
Hey excellent tutorial
I like to raise the furnace off the floor about a 4” brick height.

Great video, love the channel. Could you provide some comments or a review video on electrostatic filters? Are they work the money? Thx. 👍
Hey Dave, I need to do this for sure so as a homeowner/diy'er where do I find the sheet metal piece (is it 26 gauge) to work with?

I need help and answer, please
I bought a mini split. Is there a problem with putting the unit inside an unfinished basement instead of outside?

I cant do it to mine. The filter is literally in the wall vent 😫
What you charge for this job ?
Northern IL: I had a quote for this job come in about $600, including the $150 filter box.

No offense, but I think very few people would feel comfortable or competent enough to do a job like that.
