@@XtreemMetalManRedToTheBone But it'll have to be done by someone who actually watches this series or it won't be done well... Just like what happened with the Rogan remake. The closest we've got to a decent remake of this classic series is The Blue Morpho arc of The Venture Bros during the later seasons. In it Malcom Fitzcarraldo returns to the abandoned home of his youth to discover that his deceased father was once the Blue Morpho, a vigilante masquerading as a villain. Initially aghast at the discovery, Malcom eventually dawns the mantle of the Morpho in order to fight super villains.

It's a shame this show didn't go on more than one season. I remember Van Williams saying the producers had plans for a 1968 season where the Green Hornet and Kato would travel to other countries with a more Mission: Impossible type flavor. But the one season is still great and contains some of Bruce Lee's most authentic fight choreography. This scene and the fight where the Green Hornet and Kato raid the police station ("Hornet, Save Thyself") are my two favorites.
I was a teenager in high school when they released the Green Hornet. and I can tell you that everybody in high school was blown away by his level of skill and speed. However though, there will never be another Bruce Lee, just like there won't be another Muhammad Ali or another Steve McQueen.
@Rick O'Shay Even if he could get the choreography down, the show's producers might not have been willing to take the chance. This is series takes place in the same world and time as the Adam West Batman show, which used sound effect words to cover the very safe action choreography. No sense in people risking injury for a kids show, right? With Green Hornet they took a bit more chances, but still kept it as safe as possible for the actors

A personal favorite episode from "The Green Hornet." Bruce was apparently fond of Japanese samurai movies and the way Mako/Dan Inosanto dies at the end (while cutting Bruce in the forehead) is very similar to the ending of the finale to the "Samurai Trilogy," where Mifune Toshiro as "Musashi" gets cut in the head when he kills "Sasaki Kojiro," who also pauses, before falling forward and dying. (The major difference of course, is that here, it takes place in then-contemporary times with bare-handed combat, whereas that movie takes place in Tokugawa Japan, and the opponents are armed with swords.) That is not a criticism, because every artist takes influence from what came befor,e and if you're going to be influenced, be influenced by the best, and Bruce took from the best, and made it his own, and introduced what he loved to the world.
If only he did Japanese movies as a samurai he would have loved every second of it. He would have geeked out at the touch of a ancient Japanese sword with so much history

People seem to forget he is. The entire point of The Green Hornet, is that he's a masked Crime Boss to both cop and criminal alike. Britt Reid is the boss and Kato is the enforcer.
@@Shanethefilmmaker Actually, the role of Kato was the "oriental houseboy ", i.e. a manservant, which was basically the only role an Asian actor could get in those days. The only difference was Kato could kick ass.
Too me, the thing the Hornet brings to this situation is the psychology. He's the one who plays to Lo Sing's pride, verbally backing him into a trap where if he wants to have any hope of maintaining control of his gang, he has to fight Kato. At that point, all Kato has to do is what he does best and the whole thing will collapse (and you can tell that the Hornet doesn't doubt that Kato will win for a second).
I’m so glad Bruce started choreographing his own fights later on, because these fights were lousy and didn’t allow any of the performers to show there abilities well within the story.
Lo Sing played the Sorcerer in the first Conan, starring Arnold. And in the far East, the Green Hornet was known as the Kato Show. What a loss to the world Bruce and Brandon gone way too soon.
Bring this back and do it right this time. Have Guy Ritchie or Cary Fukinaga Direct it. Needs to be or could be cool and smooth at the same time. Characters and story could be endless if done right.
Yes they need to do a serious decent re make, it would be best with using a new Asian upcoming serious martial artist to play Kato, Britt Reid needs to be played by a serious dramatic action actor younglike late 20s early 30s hate to say it but Stephen Amell from the Arrow series would be a good choice. But it has to be a serious crime fighting movie, maybe a story about a corrupt politician who is creating his own private army to take over the city, state?
@@lonknight3197 Good thoughts there. I would have the characters see the world ala' James Bond perspective at the very least. IMO Kato should be cast the way Daniel Craig was for 007. That is the creators wanted a "bulldog in a suit" this time around as I read before DC was chosen i.e., NO BTS Band boy types. In remembrance of watching this back in the '60s when I was a kid (man we was talking about this episode for weeks in school), I always thought this classic television fight scene was much longer. I still like it anyway.
The series was pretty good, but the later episodes became a bunch of whodunnit mysteries. The show may have lasted longer if it hadn't gone in that direction.
Kato known as Bruce Lee was more famous than the Green Hornet! But they did make a good pair. Even before Bruce Lee changed his system to Jeet Kune Do he was still so quick and light on his feet and became more quick, too fast as he developed lighting speed! No one ever was so great, even today after his death !
Yes indeed.. Dan Inosanto was a student of Bruce Lee. What's interesting, Dan was Filipino American, Mako Iwamatsu was an American-Japanese actor and of course Bruce Lee was the real deal Chinese American. I was around 9 years old when this was originally aired in 1966. I started my Karate lessons soon after this big craze of Martial Arts began. Never took the discipline too seriously as a kid. However, at 59 years old, I can pretty much knock the crap out of someone if I wanted too. That training never leaves you..
+MrPolymers....actually Mako was born in Kobe, Japan so he is Japanese-American. On the other hand Bruce was born in San Francisco so he was born as an American, but since his childhood was spent in Kowloon, Hong Kong he is considered Chinese-American.
That's ironic isn't it? Kato, (Ikano Kato) was originally conceived as a Japanese character. However, he was always portrayed by Chinese actors even prior to Bruce Lee.

I use to watch Green Hornet when i was a kid and kato, was the only reason why. Bruce Lee was my dude. Crazy 8's
Mako's voice is a treasure!
And Robin fought KATO to a draw? I bet Bruce was real happy, when they told him, "Your not suppose to win that fight!"
Yeah, well ... like it or not, Robin's a legend, too ... and Nightwing might very well beat Kato.
Awesome...hard to believe this was part of the Adam West/Batman universe which was great also but Green Hornet seemed a bit darker......
RIP Mako & Bruce Lee
This was the best episode of the Green Hornet.
I’m so glad Bruce started choreographing his own fights later on, because these fights were lousy and didn’t allow any of the performers to show there abilities well within the story.
Good work Kato!
In Hong Kong, they called it "The Kato Show"
RIP Mako, RIP Master Bruce Lee, RIP Van Williams
All great in this...!
Whoaaaa... Bruce vs Mako... I Wouldn't Believe It If I Didn't See It... SmH😳😳🙏💯
Bruce fighting Mako...now that's the stuff of legends.
Lo Sing played the Sorcerer in the first Conan, starring Arnold. And in the far East, the Green Hornet was known as the Kato Show. What a loss to the world Bruce and Brandon gone way too soon.
RIP TO THE MASTER KICK ASS BRUCE LEE HE WAS SOMETHING ELSE! I SURE MISS THESE TV SHOWS THEY WERE SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH!
Bring this back and do it right this time. Have Guy Ritchie or Cary Fukinaga Direct it. Needs to be or could be cool and smooth at the same time. Characters and story could be endless if done right.
Phil Pine
I'm thinking more: Quentin Tarantino 😜
@@vincef7487 Actually, Mike Moh would've been great as Kato. My son saw Once Upon a Time and said it was long and pretty bad.
Phil Pine
Good to know. Thanks.
Yes they need to
do a serious decent re make, it would be best with using a new Asian upcoming serious martial artist to play Kato, Britt Reid needs to be played by a serious dramatic action actor younglike late 20s early 30s hate to say it but Stephen Amell from the Arrow series would be a good choice.
I like your choice for Britt Reid but I think the actor Pico Alexander would be a home run. I wish there a way to submit ideas for this because I have quite a few..!
Hollywood didn’t know the Legend they had in Bruce Lee
Does anyone know if Kato killed makos character
@@donaldkelly9040 He just use a paralyzing technique on him. Most of the bad guys in the Green Hornet went to Prison instead of being killed.
OMG Mako looks so cool when he was younger.
Mako was nominated for an academy award for his work in the Sand Pebbles 1968.
two great warriors may they both rest in peice
Still better than most current fight scenes in television today.
At least they gave Kato one good fight scene in the whole series.
ブルース・リーは永遠です。
動画配信、ありがとうございます。
Bruce Lee was so quick he had to slow it down for the camera
This was a waaay underrated TV show! Van Williams was great and I love how Bruce Lee smirks when his adversary says he's going "kill him like a fly".
Never again would there be an interpretation of Kato in which he was a mere manservant.
In remembrance of watching this back in the '60s when I was a kid (man we was talking about this episode for weeks in school), I always thought this classic television fight scene was much longer. I still like it anyway.
One of the greatest fight scenes in TV history
I remember watching the Green Hornet in the 1960's. I look at Kato like me and later took interest in the martial arts and read about him.
The series was pretty good, but the later episodes became a bunch of whodunnit mysteries. The show may have lasted longer if it hadn't gone in that direction.
They jumped the shark with the Two-Parter about Alien Invaders. That was pretty lame.
Nice to see Mako and Bruce Lee so young.
1:48 did he say “backs down like a woman”? Ah, the good ole days.
Evidently Dan Inosanto in place of Mako for a good section of that. Always great to see Bruce.
Dan Inosanto was great in Game of Death. Loved that scene where he had a duel with Nunchucks against Bruce Lee.
That's ironic isn't it? Kato, (Ikano Kato) was originally conceived as a Japanese character. However, he was always portrayed by Chinese actors even prior to Bruce Lee.
this is true master at work little dragon
This was my favorite one!😂😀😀😀
Hornet points to the cut on Katos head. Katos like,"No big. What now?"
If that scene were done today, Hornet would've made a quip about it.
little known fact that the old Pink Panther movies were actually a spoof of the Green Hornet.
The Green Hornet catapult Bruce Lee to the stardom 🇵🇷...
