- Welcome, or welcome back, to Wanderlust Walks! Thank you for being here.
Today, we are exploring the beautiful Cotswold town, Cirencester. Known as ‘The Capital of the Cotswolds’, Cirencester has a population of just under 20,000, making it one of the biggest small towns in England. In 1549, King Henry VIII ordered that Cirencester Abbey (which at the time was 400 years old) was to be pulled down - the King sold the site but kept the valuable assets such as jewels, ornaments and the lead from the roof for himself. Cirencester is also known as the home of England’s tallest hedge (the 300-year-old yew hedge surrounds the Bathurst Estate). We hope that you enjoy this walk as much as we did!

Should’ve gone on a day when the market was actually on
Unfortunately we weren’t in the area on market day, but hopefully we’ll be able to visit again when the markets are on! Thank you for the suggestion
