You could easily set up working buttons. Google search arcade buttons kit. Usually USB connection to the pc or raspberry pi.

You can see the difference in the link I sent between a board for a raspberry pi and a pc. The pc one has all the pins for a keyboard. It's just a case of knowing what buttons you want. It's really that easy.
