Hi, Australian fan here! I did grow up with ABC Kids and it was one of my favourite Children's TV blocks/channels in my formative years. The TV situation in Australia isn't as bad as the US from what I know, streaming is big here but TV (especially Freeview/OTA) is still really big here, also, ABC4 wasn't really its own channel, as the airtime was taken up by the ABC4KIDS/ABC Kids block from 5am-7:30pm and the ABC2/ABC Comedy/ABC TV Plus block from 7:30pm till around 2-3am (the rest of the time was basically dead airspace with a card that said "ABC Kids returns at 5am"). Also, back in June, ABC TV Plus rebranded to ABC Family which is a family/teen block which airs shows that were on ABC ME (now ABC Entertains, a general entertainment channel which still has a kids block with older kids/younger teen content from 5-11am, while the rest of the programs are mostly entertainment aimed at older people) aswell as younger skewing shows from TV Plus. I figured you didn't include this because you had already written the script beforehand. Also, regarding their VHS series, they still do it to this day (afaik) in the form of DVDs, as I had quite a few growing up. Also, I really love your history videos, I used to watch them all the time (haven't watched you since the NickMusic video which was about a year ago iirc), but I have to say, this video was really good! I hope you keep up the great work.
i find it funny how abc kids went the exact opposite route as noggin, starting off for preschoolers and including teenagers later in the block’s lifespan
I now want one the Australian Kids WB, with a full list of shows on the network. Additionally, TV in Australia is slowly declining. No one really had Netflix till 2018 and there was always a way to watch most shows for free, except some rare sitcoms and kids shows. As an Australian I wish there was more ways to watch show live.
I watched all kinds of shows on the network like Bananas in pyjamas Sesame Street Thomas and friends The wiggles Zigby Bluey Number blocks And Timmy time
Hello Medora great video! To continue with the Idea of ABC kids Australia, there was a theme park called dreamworld and had an interesting history. They even partnered with the wiggles to make a wiggle area and had the famous Big red car ride. I used to watch Defunct land. Also what about the number one show that was taking the world by storm Bluey that’s definitely 100% an Aussie show.
As an Australian citizen who’s obsessed with the original Thomas And Friends series, ABC For Kids was my main option to catch up with new episodes plus reruns of the previous seasons of the show on cable tv. Nowadays I watch it via my dvd collection plus UA-cam!
1:26 Well I’m offend- *my New Zealander half disappears into the shadow realm* Well then I guess I’m fully Canadian then. And I guess I don’t have a father now.
I have a Confession to make: I am a morning person at would watch ABC Kids Aussie till i have to go to school. I Have a Laundry list of shows i used to watch so i won't list them here. but there is one show that i have nightmares about: Soupe Opera. and trust me it's unnervingly Eerie.
I remember somehow being able to access the ABC4Kids website from America back around 2012-2013, And I do remember a lot from that website, Including this weird “Playground” thing with these cute characters I liked.
