Controlling area can be assigned to multiple company codes, but if we want to change the controlling area then it's a very rare case in real time scenario. Why because mostly if company has different product line and using other chart of accounts then only it is recommended to use seperate controlling area. It is totally not recommended to change the controlling area as per SAP standards.
