"This was our very first release. Release in February 2012 we toured on it twice.We recorded this with one SM58 microphone in Sergio's garage, and vocals at Jason's apartment with a couch up against the wall to create a sound booth. The computer was a 2001 Dell Computer, and we always feared it shutting down and losing everything."

Why they removed those vocal harmonies from the "Distract me from the world ending around me" line I will never understand. They were literally perfect, pure pain. This version is superior just for this reason.

Jason Butler of Letlive / Fever333 was in studio sorta guiding the vocal parts for Living Creatures, so that may be why they got cut

Stolas' vocalist/guitarist (Jason Weiche) may have designed it. He did some design work for Living Creatures and Allomaternal.
This is just speculation though
